Maxwell Fancies Juve Move

Ajax抯 Brazilian defender Maxwell has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Juventus.
"It would appeal to me to play in the greatest clubs in Europe: Juve are one of these," he said.
"I will meet the leaders and we will look at the situation. To change team is one possibility. In the past, Inter have tried for me: my agent had met the nerazzurri leaders in order to understand their intentions, but then Ajax blocked my move."

Cesar To Inter Deal Not Dead

Cesar抯 aborted move to Inter could be revived in the January transfer window.
The two clubs could not agree a fee this summer, but the Brazilian is still thought to be keen on a move to the San Siro.
The Biancocelesti may decide to cut their losses, and sell the wing-back in the hope of getting a more motivated player in part-exchange.
Cesar was one of Lazio抯 most impressive performers last season.

Serie A Preview: Chievo-Inter

The first match of the Italian season kicks-off on Saturday afternoon, when Chievo Verona host title contenders Inter.
Background
A new season, but more of the same in the transfer market from Massimo Moratti. A summer where the club has seen players leave and also the arrival of some fresh and exciting faces. Despite the usual criticism that Inter buy too many players, the summer has been tipped as a very good one with the arrivals of Davids, Cambiasso and Veron to bolster what has been a lacklustre midfield among other players such as Ze Maria and Burdisso have arrived. Despite the loss of Cannavaro, the Inter fans may well feel that they could be in for a much more admirable display of attacking football under Roberto Mancini who has also arrived this summer. For so long Inter are the under-achievers of Italian football not winning the scudetto since 1989. Some people now believe that this could be their best year yet since they won the title back then, but it will be a great achievement for them to take the championship away from city rivals AC Milan. Their only problem could be that the amount of changes will once again not allow the tam to gel and for them to only hope for a Champions League place again.
Chievo will not be easy for Inter despite the fact it seems to be a new era for the club. This is their first season in Serie A without Del Neri as trainer. The man given that tough job of following in Del Neri抯 footsteps is Mario Berretta who is inexperienced at this level. Their better players since their first year in Serie A have now left and so it could be a tough year unless some of their players pull out more surprises like in previous years.
The last time the two teams met Inter got held to a stalemate at the San Siro with Chievo putting on great defence. A similar result here in Verona could see more worries from the Inter faithful for the New Year.

For Chievo it is a team which looks very much the same as last year, but with their 2 most important players leaving. Barzagli and Perrotta seem to have gone onto better things. Moro and Luciano may also be unavailable so the pressure will be on new boys Brighi and Cesar to perform.
Inter
Mancini will have a tough choice as ever to pick a team from his squad for the first match. Cordoba, Cristiano Zanetti and Burdisso may not be available and Vieri is probably going to be on the bench for the start.

Matteo Brighi
The player of 2001/02 seems to have disappeared, but for Chievo to have any inspiration in this match they need Brighi to play near the level he showed three seasons back.

Coming from a great Copa America, Adriano is clearly in some great form and will be looking to add more goals in this match.

Inter Suffer In Chievo Draw

Adriano saved Inter a few opening season blushes as his second half wonder strike secured the Nerazzurri a draw against an impressive Chievo Verona.
Things looked good for Roberto Mancini抯 side early on in the match as Dejan Stankovic took advantage of a defensive blunder by Chievo抯 Cesar to put Inter in-front on 15 minutes.
Then the off-form Christian Vieri, who Mancini surprisingly started next to Adriano, wasted an easy chance to double his team抯 lead.
This mistake marked a switch in the tide as Chievo began pushing Inter into their own half of the field, and began to reveal the defensive flaws of Mancini抯 team.
On 31 mintues Semioli beat Mihajlovic to the ball to even the score, and just six minutes later Pellissier cut through the Inter defense as if it was butter to successfully finalize a combination with Franceschini and give Chievo the surprise lead.
After the break, Inter quickly put things back in order as Adriano picked up a Vieri invitation and beat Chievo keeper Marchegiani with a low and powerful drive. Simply a fantastic shot.
But the following minutes did not feature a dominant Inter as one would have expected. Instead, Chievo were the ones who came closest to the new lead as Franceschini hit the post.
Mancio tried the Recoba card too late in the game, but this gave the Inter fans the chance to boo a once again disappointing Vieri as he was being replaced by Il Chino.
In the end, the point can be considered a good result for the Nerazzurri as a loss would have thrown the team into a crisis.
Now Mancio has a lot of work to do, especially on the defensive side of things, if he wants his side to be truely competitive this year.
