14 May 2024 | 851.18 MB Dub Reggae is the sequel to Splice Sessions' Island Reggae pack, created during our time at Anguilla Music Academy. Originating as a subgenre of reggae, dub music is known for remixes that heavily manipulate the original recording by removing vocal parts, emphasizing the rhythm section (the stripped-down drum-and-bass track known as a riddim), and using studio effects like echo and reverb. It sometimes includes vocal or instrumental snippets from other pieces. Pioneered in the late 1960s and early 1970s by artists like King Tubby, Scientist, and Lee "Scratch" Perry, dub reggae has influenced music worldwide.
To celebrate this influential genre, we collaborated with some of Anguilla’s top musicians to create essential dub reggae components and song-starters straight from the Caribbean.
