with a degree i think the suitable post u can try applying for is Technical Services Engineer if u want to join Airline or MRO company but u can also apply Mechanical Engineer in aviation manufacturing company such as SME Aerospace, Spirit Aerosystem or CTRM....to be an LAE u need to have a licence which i'm pursuing it (still a long journey to go even has passed LWTR written exam)...u can refer previous post (i guess lot of info has been discussed here) if u want to know how to be an LAE... |

how91, i think it's better if i explain for ur enquiry here rather than pm coz anyone else also can have the knowledge too...and maybe other experienced person or established LAE can add some more if my explanation got anything to add...
so regarding ur question, what i can say is LAE is a professional job which u need to have a valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's License from Civil Aviation Authority or Department of Civil Aviation who is the governed body concerning civil aviation of a country...With that license then u got the privilege to carry on the job ensuring the maintenance and airworthiness of an aircraft...
Me myself also already have a degree in electrical but must start from below to earn a license...Degree and license are different thing, they are not interchangeable...There are steps need to be followed before can be acknowledge as LAE...
so if u want to be an LAE u have to join any aviation training centre or higher education institute who offer licensing course such as for example in Malaysia; APR-Aviation Training Centre, Nilai University College, or u can apply Trainee Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (TAME) program under MAS or AirAsia whenever they advertise for new intake...or u can go for oversea where there are universities who offers Degree+Licensing course such as Glamorgan University...during the courses, u will be exposed with theory and the most important hands-on practical on aircraft maintenance....before sitting for licensing exam, u need to collect enough work schedule pertaining the aircraft maintenance jobs...
But dont worry u still can using ur engineering degree for applying other post such Technical Service Engineer or Design Engineer... |

klu lulus exam tu baru dpt basic license, lom layak digelar LAE lg...
nak jd LAE kene ada type rating on certain aircraft lak...yg ni biasanya company (airline atau MRO) yg kite keje tu lah yg akan endorse, hantar pi kursus...
pastu bila dah lulus exam kursus type rating tu baru lah layak digelar LAE dlm trade (bidang) masing2 dan type rating (jenis) kapal terbang tertentu...
btw, klu nak tny specific sal Glamorgan tu aku x taulah ada type rating sekali ke tak tp rasanya x kot, sure dpt basic license je kot issued by CAA UK..lesen EASA... |

leh je apply direct kat MAS, AirAsia, Firefly, Transmile or airline2 lain kalo ada vacancy utk position ni...
Tech Services Engineer ni kire cam org tgh la between maintenance guys especially LAE dgn manufacturer...
dorang ni lah kene updatekan LAE kalo ada apa2 perubahan dari segi technical drawing samada maintenance manual ke, pastu make sure maintenance comply with service bulletin or Airworthiness Directive dari DCA...pendek kata kalo paper2 work ni dorang lah buat...
maybe kupay leh tambah lg klu dia berkesempatan...dia tech service engineer... |
