song: ghanam rangi
artist: rahim shah

I think ghanam is pashtun word... damn, I can't understand it. I had checked with my ex-neighbors whom are the Pakistani Pashtun guys. They said ghanam rangi in urdu means mere gandumi rangat vali. gandum means wheat, rangat means orange to brownish color and vali means it refers the girl who posses the skin tone color. it's a kind of title to call for a girl you're crazy about, I guess.

A typical song, but I still love it.... because rahim shah and fariha sing it

song: dil hai ke maanta nahin (my heart doesn't accept)
artist: rahim shah and fariha parvin

maanta means accept. dil means heart.

song: kitna pyaar karte hain (how much that I love)
artist: himesh reshameya
movie: banaras
starring: urmilla matondkar n ashmit patel

movie synopsis

The sheer beauty of Varanasi—the temples, the river banks, the aroma ofincense—floods you as Pankaj Parasher—the man who'd have been 'kink'(remember Jalwa and Chalbaaz) goes into a heady but steady spiritualquest.

Banaras works on several levels. As a film that takes usright into the heart of the holy city, it's a splendid occasion forsights and sounds seldom heard in contemporary cinema.

Full and irrevocable marks to cinematographer Nirav Shah, musiccomposer Himesh Reshammiya and background scorer Surinder Sodhi foradding a luminous layer to this mellow-drama of some lyrical beauty.

Thesetechnicians are at their best, creating a world of optical andspiritual salvation without hampering the flow of the romantic talethat takes hold of the director's vision and guides him into asoul-searching exercise of considerable sensitivity and compassion.

Admittedly director Parasher's quest to fuse spirituality with romanceruns into some road-blocks. Often you feel the ambience threatens tooverpower the characters….or maybe that's what the underlying theme ismeant to be.

You can't take away from the endeavour's sincerity of purpose, itsgenuine desire to cross the boundaries between mass entertainment andintellectual discursion without making a song and dance of theunorthodox leap into the lyrical.

Of the song and dance, there's no dearth. Urmila Matondkar, stillglamorous and chic in her diligently acquired reputation for deliverycontrolled power-house performances, lends a glorious graph of growthpain and acceptance to her character. Put her in London or Banaras, hersmooth effort to get under the skin of her character is a pleasure tobehold.

Two themes that emerge from Urmila's fascinating picaresque characterare the indescribable pain of losing love and how to sublimate it intoareas of existence where the individual ceases to matter to herself.

The strong central performance is constantly aided by a knowledgablesupporting cast. Raj Babbar and Dimple Kapadia as Urmila's parentsbring a certain fresh raw emotionalism to their clichéd parts. Dimplerips the screen apart in her moment of reckoning with her screendaughter when the older woman must confess to a crime so terrible, itmakes Lady Macbeth appear akin to Mother Teresa.

But the mood of forgiveness and the sheer lightness of discarding theheavy mantle of pain and guilt, run across this prettily crafted pieceof cinema where the anxieties of going beyond convention are constantlydiverted into debates on the quality of life and death.

The polemics are never allowed to get excessive. Parasher suffuses thespiritual canvas with interludes that caress divinity. But theweightiness of the theme is occasionally undermined by sudden plungesinto banality.

What you carry home is Urmila's pain after her low-caste beloved(Ashmit Patel, with the long hair suiting the part, and never mind theheart) is murdered. Scenes where she re-visits her romantic blisswrench your heart with their sincerity.

Thedying moments between Urmila and Dimple create a raging storm of rebukeand forgiveness. And how can you forget Aakash Khuarana as rationalpsychiatrist experiencing the mysticism of Varanasi with sudden andswift results.

Banaras is a film that could easily have fallen into the trap ofover-mystifying the theme and appearing phoney in its spirituality.Providentially you cannot miss the bona fide intentions of the peoplebehind this film…Not even Naseeruddin Shah whose cameo as 'God' is donewith such contagious warmth it converts you into a realm of religiositywithout compromising your state of supreme cynicism.

It doesn't really matter whether Banaras clicks at the boxoffice ornot. For its tenacity of purpose and sensitivity of vision, and for itsgenuineness of expression you have to grant the film the space to haveits say.

song: bakhude tumhi ho
artist: atif aslam n alka yagnik
movie: qismat konnection
starring: shaheed kapoor n vidya balan

Qismat Konnection Info

This movie was previously titled Lucky Charm. Shaheed Kapoor and Vidya Balan started their shooting for the movie in Toronto, Canada. Later they continued their shooting in Mumbai. Juhi Chawla too played the role in the movie as a gypsy fortune-teller dressed in typical colorful bright attire. The movie is said being inspired by a hollywood movie "Just My Luck" with the actors Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine as the leading role.

Qismat Konnection is a story about an architect Raj Malhotra played by Shaheed Kapoor. While he was a topstudent in his school and college days, he is not having much luckfinding work, clients or projects.

All he does seems to go wrong. Rajgoes to a gypsy named Haseena Bano Jann played by Juhi Chawla who advises him that his luckis not good and he needs a lucky charm or a person who can change hislife.

Afterwards, he meets Priya (Vidya Balan) who is ready to help others by tryingto save a community center. Although they do not get along at first,Raj eventually realizes that she is his lucky charm. Priya ends uphelping Raj through sticky situations and Raj eventually figures outthat she is, in fact, changing his life.

Knowing that, Raj lies toPriya by telling her that he will help her save the community center, but instead he is trying to build a shopping mall there so he canfinally be recognised as an architect. Later Priya finds out the truthand is really upset.

To make up for his lie, Raj sells everything hehas and not caring about his job he proposes a plan to save thecommunity center and ends up winning Priya's love and admiration. AfterPriya and Raj get together, Raj's life changes and he becomesprosperous.

owh yeah, Qismat means something which had been destined and yeah it's Urdu word. Now, you learned an Urdu word from this movie title. Qismat Konnection means the connection of both guy and girl had been destined. that's why you can see a fortune-teller being involved in the movie.

song: manwa re (o friend)
artist: noori

some brief info about the singers of the song, this band is from Lahore, Pakistan. their genre of music are generally pop rock and alternative rock. the members of the band are two brothers who are Ali Noor and Ali Hamza.

Ali Noor, is a trained lawyer, while Ali Hamza, is an Economics graduate from the top business school in Pakistan. By moving away from the typical professional paths which societyexpected from ‘well educated Pakistanis’ like them, the two brothersdecided to follow their passion for music. What they ended up doing wasto set a precedent for so many others like them, who would usually noteven consider pursuing their passion professionally.

Noori had won the Award for the Best Rock Song for "Do Dil" at MTV music awards in 2009, and was selected as "Picked Artist Of The Month" on the Pakistani music channel called "The Musick" in June 2006. Noori too has won the Best Rock Song Category Award for "Nishaan" in Indus Music Awars in 2006.
