Like most proud fathers of a new baby, David Beckham felt the need to splash out.
In his case, an astonishing ￡93,000 ($150,000) a month to rent Steven Spielberg's Californian beachside home in Malibu for the summer.
Although they own an ￡11million mansion 30 miles away in Beverly Hills, and 'Beckingham Palace' back in England, he and wife Victoria could not resist when they heard the ￡25million Spielberg residence was available.

Most men would find it hard to look after three young boys and a newborn girl whilst holding down their day job - but superdad David Beckham is no ordinary man.
Despite all of his parental commitments - and not to mention the commercial ones - the L.A. Galaxy football player still found time to cook a delicious-looking risotto whilst his wife Victoria took a break after recently giving birth to daughter Harper Seven - and then posted up a picture of the feast on Facebook.
Domestic dad David, 36, first started taking an interest in becoming a culinary king while playing for Real Madrid between 2003 and 2007. |

With the arrival of a new baby, some older siblings can feel left out as friends and family members coo and gush over the newborn.
But not the Beckham boys, who have been getting just as much attention affections as their little sister Harper Seven.
And they even got to spend some quality time with their Auntie Joanne, who lavished lots of love and fun on them at the football yesterday. |

A hard act to swallow! David Beckham feasts on a plate of bugs (but it is all in the name of family fun)
With an estimated fortune of ￡165milllion, you wouldn't expect David Beckham to dine on anything for a mere tenner dare.
But daredevil David Beckham shocked onlookers when he recently feasted on a plate of nasty bugs.
The courageous act all went down on animated talk show 'Take Two With Phineas and Ferb', and of course the fly-ridden plate of creepy crawlies were just animation.
