TM moving toward LTE?

Telekom Malaysia looks to be the next contender in the 4G LTE market, according to a report from The Edge.

The publication cites a report by Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB) that notes that Telekom’s LTE trials took place in Kedah with 10 sites and was deemed successful enough to be rolled-out as a commercial service.

Hong Leong’s reports say the first phase is expected to be introduced as early as first quarter of 2014 starting with 250 sites.

The report also suggests TM’s LTE network is leveraging on the company’s CDMA frequency. It notes that CDMA is preferred because of its low frequency which allows for wider coverage and improved indoor quality.

Telekom may eventually expand its LTE service to a nationwide mobile network, with as many as 500 sites deployed in clusters. The company will be able to offer high-speed Internet to folks who don’t have access to fibre-optic networks within the country.

If true, Telekom Malaysia will be the ninth player in the country awarded with an LTE license. Current players include Celcom, Digi, Maxis, Celcom, AMAX, P1, REDtone and YTL.

Malaysia is currently assigned the 2600MHz frequency, however Maxis is also leveraging on its 1800MHz frequency to provide 4G LTE network to the iPhone 5. Telekom’s LTE network is said to be using the 850MHz band, currently used by the likes Japan’s KDDI, and US’ Sprint.

betul .. sangat la setuju

cuma masalahnya
kalau kawasan setempat tu .. dah memang had untuk 3G sekian2 sahaja
memang sesak jugak .. hehe

macam kawasan rumah ambo
ambo je yg dok bangunan bertingkat
yg lain semua hok setingkat
semua unifi cover .. bangunan ambo je idok
tension pun tension jugak

tu yg dok opis je
lagi bagus .. tapi memang layan la dah de lte dekat sesetengah kawasan untuk maxis dan celcom
kalau lalu kawasan tu .. lajus betol

yela..kadang2 geram la sbb TH on 3G sebab nk laju..kdg2 guna edge lagi ok
