torrent is not the reason for hard drive failure. when it's time, it's time. kalau torrent is the reason for hard drive failure, kayalah orang jual hard drive kat malaysia.

ada gak terbaca pasal nih....mungkin jugak kot coz masa menorrent banyak xtvt read and write to hdd....kalo tgh menorrent mcm 10 torrent serentak mungkin kot......nanti aku carik kat mana aku penah terbaca |

semua aktiviti yang membuatkan hard drive berpusing memang akan contribute to its aging process. but, torrent is not the main cause. if you aggressively do it on daily basis, of course it will cause your hard drive to fail. same theory when you use the hard drive to host a website, especially with database in the background, and being visited and written by millions of people. you can say then accessing website causes the hard drive to fail.
everything has age limit. for hard drive, usually 5 years (that's why most warranty are for 5 years). in 5 years, if you don't experience any significant issue with your hard drive, then it's good. after 5 years, if the hard drive is still working great, those are bonus.
