Toma Ikuta stars in new TOKIO music video
Johnny’s Jr.’s Tohma Ikuta (25) will make his music video debut with TOKIO for their upcoming single “NaNaNa (太陽なんていらねぇ (Taiyo nante irane))”, it has been revealed yesterday reports Sanspo.com.
The music video will focus on Ikuta, who plays a man dumped by his girlfriend for being too unreliable, but is cheered on by TOKIO’s song to try and propose to her again. TOKIO members appear throughout the video, including group leader Shigeru Joshima (39) dressed in a pink bathrobe, and Taichi Kokubun (35) on a rope ladder hanging from the ceiling.
Ikuta has been reported to have said he was excited to have worked on this project.
“To me, TOKIO have been great big brothers for years.
“I’m really happy to be able to work with them in this way,” he said.
The popstar also said he was happy with the finished video.
“If you relax a little, it’s enough to grab your heart and make you cry,” he said.

PART 1
Close Talk between two Male Close Friends ~ The Bond.
Oguri Shun who directed his first film, "Surely Someday". Ikuta Toma who acted in the much talked about movie, "Hanamizuki" The two of them who are gathering much attention are actually close friends! Because they frequently went out for drinks together, they know each other's private and natural self. We managed to get the two of them to talk about "Guy Friendship"
Oguri: When Toma is drunk, he is really cute. I wonder if it's because going home alone will be lonely but he always doesn't want to go home.
Ikuta: If I have to say whether Shun cries or sleep when he is drunk... lately he's the former. (laugh)
We drank together yesterday too!
On the day of the interview, Oguri-kun and Ikuta-kun greeted each other with "It's been a few hours. (laugh)" It seems that the two of them were drinking together last night.
Oguri: I was with Jun (Arashi's Matsumoto-san) last night. We were talking and somehow the conversation led to "Let's call Toma over too". When I called him, he was a little hesitant and said, "There's work early tomorrow. I'll call you later." But no call came from him and after 20 mins....
Ikuta: I nonchalantly appeared. (laugh)
Oguri: His face was almost like, "I'm been here all along though?" After that, the 3 of us were drinking and it gradually becoming enjoyable. When we were coming out from the second bar, it was almost time for us to go home. Toma started acting pampered and said to me, " Shun-chan, let's go to one more bar~ <3"
Ikuta: And this person grabbed his bag and ran away. (laugh)
Oguri: When Jun was paying, I thought, "If I'm going to escape, it's now or never." But in the end, I got caught. Then I forced the pampered Toma into the taxi and sent him home. And that's what happened last night. (laugh)
First impression was "He became an adult"
There were times when Ikuta-kun went over to Oguri-kun's parents' home and during New Year, Oguri-kun went to visit Ikuta-kun's parents' home and made New Year food with his family. The two of them are really close, whether in private or work.
Ikuta: The first time we met was during "Hana Yori Dango~Returns~" Rather than saying we were on bad terms, we were just acquaintances. (laugh)
Oguri: My first impression was, "Somehow, he's become an adult." (laugh) Because I've been watching Toma when he was active as a Johnny's Junior.
Ikuta: My impression was that "The show-off came, hey!" (laugh)
Oguri: The first time we met, we didn't manage to mingle much. The first time we managed to properly talk was during then, right? After drinking with the staff, we went to Jun's house and drank. And Jun made Soumen for us.
Ikuta: Yes yes. It was there where we exchanged contacts....
Oguri: We didn't contact each for quite a while. When it was decided that we were to act together in "Hanazakari no Kimitachi e~ Ikemen Paradise", I called him.
The distance between the two of them decreased because of "Hanazakari~"
Ikuta: During the time, I travelled by train. The filming site was really far. And then, when we were leaving, Shun-chan sent me home with his car. During the car-ride, we discussed about a lot of things such as, "From here on, how we are going to act in the drama", "What kind of drama we want it to become."
Oguri: After that, seriously, we went drinking almost everyday. (laugh)
Ikuta: We went to the Sukiyaki place near Shun's place that he likes. (laugh)
They are hooked on TV games.
After drinking outside, they went to Oguri-kun's house. At his house, they would play TV games. That's the course the two of them decided recently.
Oguri: Speaking of which, that day, we drank at this amazing place, didn't we?
Ikuta: This guy, despite how he kept saying that he hates having his pictures taken by mobile phones when he's in the middle of a drinking session. The moment he saw this cart-like bar, where they place the chairs along the road, he said, "Let's drink here!"
Oguri: The passer-bys, the passer-bys, when they saw us, for a moment, their expression was one of surprise. Because we were drunk, we looked funny. (laugh) And we started to enjoy ourselves even more. "I'm feeling great! Let's walk!!" We went for a walk aimlessly and then went home.

A passionate guy but sometimes an idiot.
They know each other very well. In Oguri-kun's eyes, how is "Ikuta Toma" reflected?
Oguri: The Toma that I know is a very lively person. At any rate, he is a passionate person and sometimes he's unexpectedly an idiot. Do you wanna know Toma's idiotic episodes? Well, let's share it, shall we? A long while back, we were drinking till early morning and while we were walking back home, we walked past a small pond where carp fish were swimming in it. When he saw that, he immediately said, "Let's catch some carp fish!"
Ikuta: And I jumped noisily into the pond just like that. (laugh)
Oguri: I guess all of a sudden, he must have wanted to catch carp fish with his bare hands? He has such an idiotic and innocent side. We talked about this the day after. That day, we went back to my house and he stayed over just like that.....
Ikuta: When I woke up, I said, "Somehow, I reek of fish~!!"
Oguri: It was so smelly that if you were to trace the culprit by smell, you will be able to find us. (laugh)
A guy who "loves himself."
What kind of guy is "Oguri Shun" in Ikuta-kun's eyes? We're curious about that too.
Ikuta: Oguri Shun..... is someone who loves himself. (laugh)
Oguri: I like myself and I also love others!
Ikuta: First of all, he's the type who wants to know his own works to others. If you go to Shun's house to visit, he will bring out his dramas, movies, and of course, his CM for your viewing. At first he would say, "I'll just show you the first 5 mins." but in the end, you will be shown the whole thing. He does it so often that no one believes him anymore. (laugh) And, the timing when he brings out his works is so perfect!! Just right after everyone was having fun and getting excited, he'll ask discreetly, "do you wanna see it?" (laugh)
There were many times where we would drink together, just the two of us. But lately, there were also many times where we would drink together in a big group. There were many times the group gathered with Oguri-kun as the center link. Isn't that an unexpected side!?
Oguri: For me, I really love introducing my friends to my other friends. Seriously, when I meet a guy who I think is a really good person, I'll want my friends to be friends with him. (laugh) I'll always go, "let's interact with each other!"
Ikuta: This guy here, even though he says it like that. When I go drinking with the friends whom I've made through Shun-chan, he will sulk. "You guys got to know each other because of me. Why didn't you call me along!!" (laugh)
Oguri: But.... isn't it lonely? <3
The reason why they're pulled to each other.
Oguri: Toma is a kind person. When we are together, even if I'm no good at something, Toma will somehow do it for me.... That sort of sense of security. To put it simply, someone who takes care of me. (*He literally said my "Babysitter" or "Assistant". But both sounds weird. So I changed that.)
The relationship between the two of them is that Toma-kun is the "Elder Brother" and Oguri-kun is the "Younger brother"?
Oguri: When I tricked Toma into coming over to help when I was moving house by simply saying, "come over and play", Toma didn't get angry and still helped me with the moving.
Ikuta: When I went there, he suddenly said, "is it okay if you helped me move my stuffs?" But I don't dislike this part of Shun-chan. (laugh) When I met Shun-chan, I'm able to think, "it's okay to act as an idiot again." If I were to put it as the youthful time during my high school days, I feel that"Hanzakari" is my second youth! Somehow, it was extremely fun!
Oguri: When we first met, Toma was really diligent. That hasn't changed at all but he was more diligent in the way that, "Going to the filming site without any sleep is unbelievable!" That changed when we were filming "Hanazakari~". We talked a lot through the night and went straight to the site just like that.
Ikuta: There were many times when we stayed all night and went to the site, feeling all excited. (laugh)
The challenging distance that they have put behind
They have formed a strong bond but in the past, such a time also existed.
Oguri: It was about 2008, I think. I was so busy. I kept running, running and continued running. It was like I got the "burnt till my limits syndrome". Nothing would go well and my work weren't interesting at all. Even when I drank, after getting all fired up, I'll be frustrated and started crying. Those were the times. We didn't meet up at all.
Ikuta: That's right. For a period, there was a huge gap in our friendship. The reason? It's just simply because we didn't feel like drinking together.
Oguri: This is what I heard after that. Toma was thinking that "I can't drink someone this depressed."
Ikuta: Yeah. And then, after a long while, we contacted each other and went drinking together. He seemed really happy and said "Right now, out of those actors, I feel that I am really the worst. That's why, every morning, I practised with (Yoshida) Kotaro-san. (I have no idea who is this. If you know, please share!) " And I thought, "he's back."
Oguri: The one sentence I said was, 'Oguri Shun has returned!" (laugh)
Ikuta: That was the moment. "Shun-chan, Welcome back!" (laugh)
About the fact that both of them are "actors"
Oguri-kun's first directed film "Surely Someday" is currently in theatres. In August, Ikuta-kun's movie, "Hanamizuki" will be in theatres. As both actors with overflowing talents, do they not view each other as rivals?
Ikuta: Rather than saying we see each as rivals, I would think "I do not want to do an embarassing work." I want to do a work that would make Oguri Shun think, "That's a good piece of work, isn't it?"
Oguri: I don't see him as a rival but, there were times when I watched Toma's acting and feel that "he got me!" Which piece of work? The one where I felt this most strongly is expectedly "Hanazakari~"'s Nakatsu Shuichi. I can't do the monologue that Nakatsu did. He did quite a bit of ad-lib monologue. It wasn't just me, but during that time, everyone was looking forward to his monologue filming. Whenever it was Nakatsu's scene, everyone on the site will be like, 'I've waited for this!!" From the test to the real filming, this guy's acting was perfect.
Ikuta: For me, the time when I thought, "he's got me!!" was when I saw "Crows Zero." I feel that every guy who watched will think that Oguri Shun is cool. I can't do that kind of role like Genji Takiya.
They are so close to the extent that they would definitely check out each other's works.
Ikuta: I got to read "Surely Someday"'s script from when they started writing it. I was purely happy when I heard that he was going to direct a film. Because I saw him working hard to make his dream come true.
Oguri: I have not seen "Hanamizuki" but I've heard about the movie from Toma and will definitely watch it.
Ikuta: I've called him from the filming site in Hokkaido.
Oguri: Takahashi Tsutomu (also acted in Crows Zero) also appeared in the movie, isn't it? He came back from the filming and made a face that said, "I'm close friends with Toma" And I said to him, "I'm sorry but I'm definitely much closer to Toma than you, so can you stop giving me that kind of look?" (laugh)
Oguri-kun & Ikuta-kun built a friendship where they motivate each other whether in work or private. What are they aiming for from here on?
Ikuta: For me, as expected, I want to act together again. To do a piece of work with all our might.
Oguri: For me, firstly with Toma, I want to gather a bunch of talented actors our age and film a movie together. We talked about this yesterday too. I don't know what kind of work it would turn out to be but I want to do a film that struggles against society. We are still considered "youth" and that's why, I want to try filming a movie about passionate "youth" with Ikuta Toma.

Toma Ikuta to star in "The Tale of Genji"
Actor Toma Ikutahas been chosen to star as Hikaru Genji in a new movie adaptation of"The Tale of Genji." The film, tentatively titled "Genji Monogatari,"is being directed by Yasuo Tsuruhashi ("Ai no Rukeichi") and reportedly has a budget of more than 1 billion yen.
"The Tale of Genji," generally believed to have been writtern bynoblewoman Murasaki Shikibu during the 11th century, is considered aclassic piece of Japanese literature. The story has appeared incountless forms throughout the centuries, including theater, opera, andfilm.
Ikuta was reportedly chosen for the role by executive producerTsuguhiko Kadokawa while filming was in progress for "Ningen Shikkaku,"which opened in February. Actors who have previously played the role onthe big screen include Kazuo Hasegawa in 1951 and Raizo Ichikawa in1961. On television, the part has also been played by singer Kenji Sawada (62) and Shonentai's Noriyuki Higashiyama (43).
"Genji Monogatari" is scheduled for release in 2011.
