KUALA LUMPUR: After a temporary respite, the dreaded haze has made its appearance again.

The reason: A change in wind direction.

Malaysian Meteorological Services Department principal assistant director Wong Teck Kiong said drier weather and reduced visibility could be expected until next week.

This, he said, was because of the change in wind direction from south-easterly to south-westerly.

Three tropical storms in the Western Pacific had also contributed to the wind change.

"This is rare as there is usually only one storm present at any one time," he said.

"We have also issued strong winds and rough seas warning for all coastal areas in the country for the whole week."

Wong said as of 3pm yesterday, there were 320 hotspots in Sumatra, 120 in Borneo and three in the peninsula.

Visibility at 6pm yesterday was at 6km in Butterworth, 4km in Alor Star, 4km in Sitiawan and 4km in Ipoh.

Wong said the rest of the areas recorded visibility levels of more than 6km.

There were no unhealthy air pollution index readings in any State yesterday.

In Penang, visibility improved yesterday afternoon after a midday downpour.

A spokesman for the State Meteorological Services Department said the visibility reading at ground level at 4pm was more than 10km in Bayan Lepas and 8km in Prai.

This situation was much better than the 8km visibility reading for Bayan Lepas and 5km for Prai recorded at 8am yesterday.

The spokesman said the rain, which started at 1.30pm and lasted for more than an hour in several areas in Bayan Lepas and Prai, had reduced the haze.

He said the haze conditions were considered moderate and the readings at 4pm were considered as "normal".

adoi, jerebu balik tahun ni... (ada tertgk kat luar, ada la nampak jerebu sikit2)...

teringat last year(lebih kurang waktu yg sama, dalam awal ogos gak), mmg teruk la jerebu... sampai pergi mana2 cam takde orang sgt... ada satu hari tu,masa nak naik bas intrakota(sekarang rapid KL atau mmg dah tukar pun time tu, maybe aku tak perasan) dari 1 Utama ke KL(nak g pudu, amik bas ke JB), time tu rasa cam aku sorang je yg conquer bas tu sbb takde orang sedangkan kebiasaannye ada la gak org sampai separuh at least... masa kat 1 Utama tu pun lengang je berbanding hari2 kebiasaan...

Near unhealthy air in two areas

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KUALA LUMPUR: Two areas in Selangor recorded air pollutant index readings that were close to the "unhealthy" level.

Data released by the Department of Environment showed Kuala Selangor抯 was 95 while Port Klang was 91.

Levels of between 101 and 200 are deemed unhealthy.

Kuala Lumpur was 69, despite a brief shower in the afternoon while Tanjung Malim, which recorded an unhealthy 108 on Sunday evening, improved to a moderate reading of 77 yesterday evening.

Malaysian Meteorological Services Department principal assistant director Wong Teck Kiong said Malaysians should expect drier weather and reduced visibility until next week because of the change in wind direction from south-easterly to south-westerly.

Visibility in Langkawi, Butterworth, Alor Star and Sepang was recorded at more than 10km yesterday.

Indonesia nafi punca jerebu

JAKARTA 9 Ogos ?

Jerebu mula landa Sarawak

PANDANGAN KABUR: Gambar menunjukkan kawasan Satok,

just depend pada Satellit, ianya tak sepenuhnya represent keadaan sbonar...faktor soil, jenis pembakaran mempengaruhi satellit punya observation... pakai otak skit la..
