An Islamic Response to Pope Benedict XVI

Muslims all around the world were upset and outraged at the recent incident involving Pope Benedict XVI. The controversy began on 12 September 2006, when he presented a lecture entitled ?aith, Reason and the University ? Memories and Reflections? at the University of Regensburg in Germany, where he was previously a professor of theology. Without refuting or repudiating it, he had quoted from the Byzantine emperor Manuel II Pleologus who was reported to have said thus:

Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.

Certainly there is no reason why a Muslim who knows his religion would not be outraged at the words cited from a medievel emperor, and it is justifiably so. What we would like to know is, how could Pope Benedict XVI have quoted from a power-crazy emperor whose hostility towards Islam was well-known? As the person considered as the ?icar of Christ? leading a majority of the world? Christian population who ascribe to the Catholic faith, the Pope should be promoting peace and harmony between the two faiths.

none Christians going around like mad dogs in street shouting here and there because we now that Bible is truth. only those feel guilty behave like mad in street.

it doesnt matter, personally i too dont feel that muslims should go rampaging everywhere just because of a statement. Sure.. the pen is mightier than the sword, but just what can we do really? its his mouth not ours, whatever we do by turning violent is not going to change anything. Cant you see the pattern? first the cartoon publications and thn the flushing down the Quran down the toilet bowl, and yes  Muslims rampaged...and  now this? see? this is a perfect example why violence never works, i admit Gandhi and the Prophet Muhammad ( S.A.W) are clear cut examples of how Muslims should behave.  I'm sure if the Prophet is still alive today, he wouldnt even tolerate such amount of hate and violence to spread like wildfire amongst Muslims ,  and what next? this is what they want Menj , cant you see? they want Muslims to behave indiscriminately and by flaming more Muslims they can accuse us of all sorts of things...

Agree... that pope fella is just proving one thing.. that like other Christians (the best examples can be found in this forum) he is  always lurking in the shadow, looking for every excuse  to bash Islam

If u Muslims do not want give respect to other faith than do not ask Pope Apology. The main culprit is Islam themselves is causing so much problem to this planet. If you think you religion 100% prefect why must condemn other faith by calling other holy book porno. Look around your Koran and hadith which full of distorted which do not makes sense.  How could a different hadith have grade? How could Koran the so call holy book can inject hatred and racist remarks ?? Do we still want to acknowledge such boo as holy???


To us the Holy Bible do not sound porno but if one read the Koran one might wonder is  not inspired from true God.

Why are you demanding apology and at the same time guilty of the same offence. Thats hypocritical.

The existing Pope himself has a very fascist history. Unlike the previous late pope.  He kicked out vaticans who are in good terms with muslims. Is he doing this deliberately to incite more hatred in the world? His apology is fine but the damage is done.
