I have monitored the arguments in this thread for quite sometime. My kudos to both sides for the info and pasionate debates.
However i do notice that to get any information and facts, especially scholarly unbiased views from any subject is very hard to get online. Questions of whether such arguments are based on facts, the truth and so on has always sidetrack good debates even before it reach climax. Thus ending such debates with mud slinging, names calling and other acts inappropriate for a civilized person.
As world events are mostly entertwined with American foreign policy, it is therefor essential for us to get similar news as what the Americans get. Mainstream American media is available online, but not many realises the availability of other Alternative online news which for the past few years have accumalated vast American audience just like our own local MalaysiaKini, MalaysiaToday, JeffOoi's Blog and the late MGG Pillai's website.
The best so far to me is Democracy Now!, with its main reporter Amy Goodman. You can read about her biography here;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Goodman
The website address is here;
http://www.democracynow.org
True to an extent to the American Free Speech policy, this online news is surprisingly available on most American Public Radio, Local Tele Broadcast and Cable TV. Please do be aware however that this site only updates itself on weekdays and not on weekends. And if possible, any donation to the site is welcomed.
Another good news source, especially for those interested in Conspiracy Theories, is Alex Jones Prison Planet. A passionate journalist, filmmaker and writer, Alex Jones gained reputation in America via his Radio Show which he leased the broadcast line via World Wide Christian Radio. His most prophetic news yet were his predictions in middle of 2001 that America is going to be attacked, and the CIA will eventually blamed it all on Osama Bin Laden. You can read about Alex Jones here;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Jones
While his website URL is here;
http://prisonplanet.com/
Before 2003, some of Alex Jones movies and news can be downloaded for free. But financial constraint have restrict such freebies, though you can still stream the contents. But for all who missed such opportunities, you can try and download it via p2p. My copy? Well lets just say it is in a safe box somewhere for my personal reference only.
Another source of alternative media in America, is the famous Michael Moore website. i believe most of us have known him via his independent movies. I still laugh when recalled him reading out the Patriot Act in the Ice Creamvan over a loud speaker while driving around congress, after most congressman reluctantly admits they didnt even read the act when it was passed. Hahaha.

The last alternative news site is AlterNet. Their reporting is good and focus. Here's the add if you plan to drop by,
http://www.alternet.org/
So now you see, there are other credible online news site besides CNN and BBC.
Just for the record, there are news from these sites that i myself disagree with. I just hope the debates here will be much more 'colourful' with these sites as our alternative information library.
Remember, there are always two sides to a coin.
TQ and Happy Foruming.

I have participated in internet forums in Singapore, UK, US, China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia and of course, Malaysia.
This forum is the MOST open and liberal I've ever seen. The only drawback it has is it lacks mature intellectual contributions.
In other boards, I talk less. I read comments made by professors, school headmasters, a rocket scientist (lost contact with him), businessmen, housewives, pensioners,... Here, its residents are mostly youngsters. In order to communicate effective with them, you have to speak their language... |
