Cue the earthquake and clear the platform. "High top!" is shouted from the foreman's trailer and the rich, black liquid focus point of this movie comes into full view. "Oil !", by Upton Sinclair, is what director Paul Thomas Anderson uses for his muse and translates it onto the screen with key players Daniel Day-Lewis and Paul Dano. Day-Lewis quickly takes control of the audience's attention as an amoral oil businessman. The first 15 minutes of the movie are quiet, but losing interest is a mistake. Walking about untouched land with his son H.W. (Dillon Freasier) for his cover as an honest family man, Daniel Plainview gets a hot tip from a greedy passerby about earthquake oil in the middle of nowhere. Upon confirming the tip and bending the local population with his hollow promise of money for the town, Plainview meets his contender. Dressed in well-tailored religious uniform, Eli Sunday (Paul Dano) seizes hold of the townsfolk while Plainview focuses on his wells. With extremely charismatic sermons bordering on mysticism, Eli starts to rally the newly-religious locals against Plainview. Other problems are presented and conquered for Daniel Plainview, taking it as it comes and dealing with delays swiftly before anyone has a chance to notice. Tensions rise to a point that Reverend Sunday and Mr. Plainview are just spitting acid and threatening to erupt. Paul Thomas Anderson's reportedly hands-off direction shines here as Day-Lewis and Dano bounce their characters off each other. Pivotal scenes are handled with a loose and slow-paced delivery of dialogue that makes audiences cheer for the winner, even if the winner of the fight is the nihilistic Daniel Plainview. The message is conveyed that the opposing key characters, Eli and Daniel, are cut from the same greedy power-hungry cloth. When it all comes down to it, Plainview is a lonely oil baron and Eli has lost his sheep. One doesn't have to do the math while watching the movie to see the final moments coming, or to put together their conclusion. "I'm finished !"

storyline/plot, nk kate best sgt, bg aku beser je...mengenai peneroka minyak (day lewis) bersame anak die yg merantau dr 1 tmpt ke 1 tmpt (dlm US) utk mencari sumber minyak dlm tanah penduduk kt tempat yg die pergi...die jumpe sumber minyak, die beli hak utk drill tanah tu, die baya royalti kt landlord, die sedot minyak tu ngan bantuan pekerja2 die...
title film ne "there will be blood" reflect kpd pertumpahan darah kt mane2 tmpat die gali minyak tuh, same ade sbb accident pekerja mati mase drilling, or begadoh ngan tuan tanah or ngan penduduk setempat...
acting day lewis mmg la x dinafikan deserve oscar..so mmg suprise kalu die x menang 24 feb kang...:handshake: :handshake:
