KLIA beats Changi Airport to be more 'instagrammable', says surveyPETALING JAYA: The KL International Airport in Sepang has overtaken Changi Airport in Singapore - in the ranking with the most photogenic facilities.
According to a study conducted by travel site Miss Tourist, KLIA is ranked fourth in the list of airports with the most photogenic facilities, with 600,336 posts on Instagram.
"It features a unique modern design mixed with nature. KLIA is famous for its indoor lush greenery called the Jungle Boardwalk, and it received 47 million passengers in 2023," it said.
The study used an initial seed list of the top fifty busiest airports in the world based on passenger traffic and then identified the most popular hashtag for each of these airports.
Instagram was then used to determine the number of times each hashtag had been used, revealing the most Instagrammable airports worldwide.
Los Angeles International Airport is the most Instagrammable airport in the world, with an astounding 3,393,690 Instagram hashtags, while the San Francisco International Airport comes in second with 1,047,624 Instagram posts.
In third place is London Heathrow Airport with 762,904 Instagram hashtags. Changi Airport has taken the fifth spot with 581,993 Instagram posts.
Other airports in the top 10 list are Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam with 478,744 Instagram hashtags, Dubai International Airport with 451,229 Instagram hashtags, Tokyo Haneda Airport with 448,039 Instagram posts and Frankfurt Airport with 326,069 Instagram posts. Who needs an indoor waterfall anyway?
