Orci and Kurtzman explained the dilemma for the sequel was whether to pit the crew against another villain, or to have an "exploration sci-fi plot where the unknown and nature itself is somehow an adversary".[175][176]
On October 2, 2011 it was confirmed by screenwriter Roberto Orci that location scouting was underway.[177] Zachary Quinto, while in an interview for his film Margin Call, stated "Star Trek 2 is on the imminent horizon, I go back to L.A. after this trip to start to prep for it" – "everyone is gearing up".
In the interview, he also confirmed that he had yet to read the script.[178]Benicio del Toro was reportedly being considered as Khan, the villain of the film, but ultimately passed on the role.[179]
The sequel, originally scheduled for a release date of June 29, 2012, had to be pushed back 11 months by Paramount for undisclosed reasons. The film is currently scheduled for release on May 17, 2013.[180]
It was reported in January 2012 that British actor Benedict Cumberbatch is to play the unnamed villain in the next Star Trek movie. The new movie also has cast fellow Brits Alice Eve and Noel Clarke.[181]

J.J Abrams jugaklah yg berjaya mengubah persepsi aku berkenaan cerita Star Trek sebagaimana Christopher Nolan berjaya menarik aku utk menonton cerita Batman....
Tak sabar utk menantikan sequel of Star Trek..

Star Trek into Darkness is an upcoming United States science fiction film directed by J. J. Abrams, written by Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof and Roberto Orci, and produced by Abrams, Kurtzman, Lindelof, Orci, Bryan Burk.
It is the twelfth film in the Star Trek franchise and the sequel to 2009's Star Trek. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg and John Cho return to reprise their roles from the previous film. It is set to be released on May 17, 2013.
Earth appears to be under threat and some of the footage in the minute-long clip looks like scenes out of a disaster flick.Fans are no closer to figuring out who the villain is as played by Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch. The film's synopsis says he is "an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organisation (who) has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis".
Benedict's character does provide a rather chilling voiceover in the teaser:
"You think your world is safe. It is an illusion. A comforting lie told to protect you. Enjoy these final moments of peace for I have returned to have my vengeance."
The Japanese edition has a few seconds extra footage which brings to mind Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan though. Check out both versions below. Star Trek Into Darkness flies into cinemas 17 May, 2013.
