Yup, that's the main reason. The craving for sexual plessure is hard to resists. Even with Teh Tarik and plain roti kosong a Bohjan can get laid!

Teringat ada satu berita pasal penangkapan pelacur kat dalam newspaper...10 years back kot...

Dah ada study on this ke? I would not jump into any conclussion yet.........Perhaps khairul may have some info on this....you know from your experience working with them...

There may be many reasons as is the case of any social issues.

Actually, sexual craving is differ between gender.

For a male, sexual plessure came from the sensation from the physical activities itself.

Whereas for a female, it is more on emotional feelings such as a feeling of being in love and taken care of by the boyfriend, not from the physical activities per se.

I will follow up with recent studies on this matter.

I am not so much into the difference in the perception of sexuality between sexes at this point but rather on what is it that drive these so called bohsia/bojan  do what they do. Do they do it togather or with other "normal" ppl ...like they provide the "service" of say,  a one night stand for those who seek them..?

My main concern is also whether could such an activity be a front or a manifestation of a much deeper emotional feeling or hurt...? I am on the premise that ppl always do things for a reason.

some pelacur are being cheated by certain syndicate.... some they are normal and innocent girl who are searching for better life, but the sysndicate cheat them
and force them into prostitution....such scene always portrayed in tv.....
so, some are very pitty........

Nevertheless, here are some of my general opinion on the issue of bohsia and bohjan if I understand what they are.....
Barangkali ada suatu kekosongan dalam hidup mereka di rumah. Yang perempuan ingin mencari sesuatu yang dia tak dapat dari suasana rumahnya seperti perhatian atau kasih sayang. Mungkin juga suatu manifestasi dari apa yang berlaku di rumah. Yang lelaki pula mungkin bagi menutup sesuatu yang berlaku di rumah atau untuk membuktikan sesuatu. Untuk menentukan apa sebenarnya yang mendorong mereka, perlu ada kajian......interview/counselling dgn diorang. Khairul...dari experience sendiri bekerja dgn diorang, adakah khairil dapat tujukan kpd satu2 punca tabiat itu....off hand?

Thanks Syd for the postings. I am filled with great sadness after reading the news but applaud the reporters for their efforts. It is perhaps the first true attempt I have read that tries to find out the underlying problems/issues that drive this age old profession.

Here we find reasons going a mile long as to why the existence of prostitution ............poverty, betrayal, little or no education, lack of support system.........and for the clients(menlah tu) ....marriage breakdown, wife failure(gee 80%!), long separation, fantasies..............a host of personal and social issues. I reckon if a thorough study is made there may be even more reasons.

Hisham said it was high time that the existence of sex workers was acknowledged and regulated.

Now that is one sensible statement but alas am very disappointed to note that it's existence had not been acknowledge (by government?) I always believe the best way to handle a situation is to acknowledge it's presence (as opposed to being in a state of denial , pretend it isn't there or rather sweep it under the carepet) and study it. Granted you cannot stop it overnight as the underlying factors  are complex but at least try to regulate it to arrest the first thing first like the spread of diseases or some  support system for marriage issues.................

I see this more of a social problem rather then an individu problem...the why of the matter have to be tackled in order for us to be able to shed some light into the matter. Bohsia or whatever you want to give name to this moral issues has always been part and parcel of a society...how well oiled a society is there are bound to be ppl like them..and what is more surprising is that they are a few of them that comes from a well placed background...I used to think that its got to be like a plagued that is only  reserved for the 'poor people = little education = do not know better..'

If you want to blame for lack of religious knowledge..DANG~ sorry to dissappoint you again that...there are cases of ppl from religious background being led astray by this 'FENOMENA' yes I do call it a fenomena coz its a worrying trend alright....what with most of them are so poor in their knowledge abt sexual intercourse ( they do know the act of course) but the implication of what after is what worried me most...

Most of them are going after the sexual pleasures sans the knowledge abt sexual disease..

Like what Hami said is it to fill a void in their life..a sort of looking for other forms of act to cover for the void...I don't know...I guess it got also to do with monkey see monkey do attitude...most of them are under the age of 20..where the peers pressure into belonging to a group is what matters most...that they choose to belong to such a group is a shame...more survey has to be carried out in order for us to understand them more...some of them have been abused previously by ex boyfriends - lost of virginity/ being raped by family members, being in a society where being a VIRGIN is highly regarded as a LIFE OR DEATH issue..this lead them to have a 'what the heck attitute'..

that is my take on bohsia / bohjan

will continue later abt Pelacur < I do not look down on them..whatever some of you may think of their profession as being the lowest that there is ..there are always issues pertaining to this matter that more than meet the eyes>
