Andre the Giant
![](http://doubledeckerbuses.org/pastyme/media/andrethegiant.jpg)
André René Roussimoff (May 19, 1946–January 27, 1993), best known as André the Giant, was a French professional wrestler and actor. His great size was a result of acromegaly, and led to his being dubbed "The Eighth Wonder of the World." In the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), Roussimoff briefly held the WWF Championship. In 1993, he was the first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Death
André died in his sleep on January 27, 1993, in a Paris hotel room. He was in Paris to attend the funeral for his father. It was later concluded that he died of congestive heart failure, a by-product of the growth hormone-secreting pituitary tumor he had much of his life and chose not to have treated. André's body was cremated in accordance with his wishes and his ashes scattered at his ranch in Ellerbe, North Carolina. According to his A&E Biography, André's wish to be cremated was almost not carried out because a crematorium in France could not be found that could handle his large frame |

HOUSTON (AP)—Former pro wrestler Edward Fatu, who performed under the name “Umaga,” has died at 36.
World Wrestling Entertainment spokesman Robert Zimmerman says he died Friday at a Houston hospital.
Family friend Dawn Marie Psaltis said Saturday that Fatu was found unresponsive at home by family and never regained consciousness. She said doctors indicated he died of a heart attack.
The Wrestlers Rescue advocacy group says Fatu was born in American Samoa and was part of a wrestling family that included cousin Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Fatu had two uncles who wrestled in the 1980s as The Wild Samoans.
Fatu was released in June by WWE. |

amek kt wiki:
"After the double-murder suicide, former wrestler Christopher Nowinski contacted Michael Benoit, father of Chris Benoit, suggesting that years of traumato his son's brain may have led to his actions. Tests were conducted onBenoit's brain by Julian Bailes, the head of neurosurgery at West Virginia University, and results showed that "Benoit's brain was so severely damaged it resembled the brain of an 85-year-old Alzheimer's patient."[134]He was reported to have had an advanced form of dementia, similar tothe brains of four retired NFL players who had suffered multipleconcussions, sank into depression, and harmed themselves or others.Bailes and his colleagues concluded that repeated concussions can leadto dementia, which can contribute to severe behavioral problems.[135] Benoit's father suggests that brain damage may have been the leading cause of the crime."
