Laporan satu kumpulan Islam di Amerika Syarikat (AS) yang mendedahkan lebih 98 peratus nama dalam senarai pemantauan FBI terdiri daripada nama orang Islam turut mendapat perhatian alan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.


Menurutnya, menuduh individu yang mempunyai nama Islam sebagai pengganas adalah isu salah tafsiran dan prasangka.

"Saya berpandangan persepsi dan tafsiran yang menjejaskan agama Islam itu perlu dibuang," katanya dalam sidang media selepas merasmikan Persidangan Pertubuhan Akademi Kebangsaan Biro Siasatan Persekutuan (FBINAA) Bahagian Asia Pasifik ke-23 di sini, hari ini.


Turut hadir Presiden FBINAA Antarabangsa, Tim Braniff dan Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.


Hadir sama Penolong Pengarah Divisyen Operasi Antarabangsa FBI, Raymond P Duda; Duta Besar AS ke Malaysia, Brian D McFeeters dan Timbalan Yang Di-Pertua Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor.


Laporan bertajuk "Twenty Years Too Many, A Call to Stop the Secret Watchlist FBI," memperincikan FBI menggunakan Pangkalan Data Saringan Keganasan, yang dikatakan mensasarkan umat Islam.


Ia dikeluarkan oleh Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) pada Isnin, lapor Agensi Anadolu.


Selepas diberikan senarai FBI versi 2019 oleh penggodam Switzerland yang menemukannya dalam talian berikutan penyiarannya secara tidak sengaja oleh syarikat penerbangan serantau, CAIR menjalankan analisis komprehensif terhadap lebih 1.5 juta nama yang tersenarai.


Menurut laporan, lebih 350,000 nama termasuk beberapa transliterasi Mohamed atau Ali atau Mahmoud dengan 50 nama yang paling kerap muncul membabitkan nama orang Islam.


Daripada entri senarai pantau yang disemak, menganggarkan lebih 1.47 juta daripada nama itu membabitkan orang Islam-lebih 98 peratus daripada jumlah keseluruhan.


Sementara itu, ditanya sama ada kerajaan mengadakan perbincangan bersama FBI bagi mengesan keberadaan ahli perniagaan dalam buruan Low Taek Jho atau Jho Low, beliau berkata, ia tidak sesuai dibincangkan ketika ini.
