Frank Yang, a 27-year-old bodybuilder was captured on video removing his shirt and flexing his muscles to a nun after she repeatedly complained that he and Vivian were being disrespectful and rude on a train.
The controversy began when the couple were shooting a video on the one-day diet of Frank. For his fifth meal, he bought four tea eggs–cooked with spices and tea leaves–and a packet of iron eggs–a Taiwan delicacy–before boarding a train. When he couldn't find a seat, Frank sat on the walkway and ate his food, which is not an offence in Taiwan, while Vivian continued to shoot the video on their journey from Taoyuan to Taipei.
Halfway through eating, Frank played around with the eggs, juggling them and even bounced them on the floor. A nun seated nearby asked him not to block the walkway and cause inconvience to other pessagers. Vivian turned to film the nun, who blocked the lens with her hand while saying: "Although I'm not a star, you all can't shoot me (without my permission)."
An argument ensued. The girlfriend stressed that there was no signs saying they couldn't sit on the ground while the nun repeatedly said the couple were disrespectful towards others and that Vivian couldn't film her. Frank stayed away from the dispute, folded his legs on top, pretending to meditate and invited the Buddhist clergy to join him. Nearly a minute later, he said the nun "was deprived of some muscular man", removed his shirt and performed the rude act on the nun.
"She has surpressed her desire for far too long, so I'm showing her a man’s body," said the Taiwan-born American. He came under fire with netizens describing him as "retarded brain" and "immoral" for humiliating the nun in a grey robe. Some netizens also let off steam on the commuters, whom they criticised for not helping the nun, who was merely "disciplining" the young couple.
A male newscaster of a Taiwan TV station was speechless as he was reading out the news. He kept repeating: "Let us look at Taipei, this is too ridiculous, ridiculous, ridiculous, really ridiculous, how ridiculous? Take a look at it yourself."
Later, Frank apologised for his rude behaviour on the train. He told Apple Daily that he had lost his mind, saying the nun was hostile towards them and that she hit the camera first.
