About Leverage Former superstar insurance investigator Nate Ford had recovered millions for his former employer. Then his son got sick, and his own company wouldn’t pay the medical bills. Now his son is dead, his marriage is over and Ford’s a drunk. He’s boozing at a bar when aeronautics company exec Victor Dubenich offers him a job: Steal back an airplane design that was stolen by a rival company, a company that is insured by Ford’s former employer. With vengeance on his mind, Ford accepts the job and puts together a team of scam artists and thieves who all have their own talents.

The thief of the Leverage crew is Parker, played by Beth Riesgraf. She doesn't have the best social skills, which stems from a bad childhood. She loves to figure out how to crack safes and escape buildings.
Parker isn't one to share about her past, and the crew finds out she has a dead brother when a "psychic" on a job reveals it based on her tells. She grew up in the foster system, and when she met Archie Leach, he became her father figure and mentor in the world of thievery. When he enlisted her help after she had joined up with Nate's crew, it was her new friends who came to her rescue and whom she sided with. However, Archie did approve of Nate and the others in the end.
Parker is an exceptional thief, and she has been known to love jumping off buildings and is so comfortable hanging upside in elevator shafts that she has fallen asleep doing so. She loves money and can tell if it's counterfeit just by touching it. When she's bored, she steals something, such as the Hope Diamond (though she put it back). With the help of Eliot, she has improved her fighting skills to the point that she can take down Hardison (though, since he's a computer guy, he's not the strongest). Her social skills are definitely a weak point, but she's working on those, with the help of Sophie.
Parker's most complicated relationship is with Hardison because there is the possibility of something more there, but she's not ready to take that final step yet.

The leader of the Leverage team is Nathan "Nate" Ford, played by Timothy Hutton. He was a stand-up guy who worked for IYS Insurance as an investigator until the company turned on him when his son got sick. When they refused to pay for the treatment his son, Sam, needed to survive, he and his wife, Maggie, lost their son. Even while he was working with IYS, he didn't get along with Jim Sterling, something that continues every time they meet up.
Victor Dubenich contacted him to take charge of the others because he was an honest man, but along the way, he himself admits he is also one of the bad guys, a thief. He brings the brains to the table in the crew, and except for the few rare times that Sophie runs the con, he's the man-in-charge. He has had problems with alcohol, and the team has expressed their concerns about him working a con drunk.
He learned about conning others from his father, Jimmy Ford, a well-known thief, when he was younger in the same bar, John McRory's Place, that the Leverage crew winds up working out of after their first office is destroyed (by Hardison, facing off against Sterling).
Nate remained somewhat civil with Maggie, though she doesn't quite trust him. He kept what IYS did a secret from her until they crossed paths while the crew was working a con that involved the insurance company. They also crossed paths (and got a bit caught up in the danger) when Maggie was set up in Kiev and his team saved her.
Nate chose Sophie for the team himself, while the others stuck around after Dubenich had put them together. Nate and Sophie have a past, and though he kept refusing to own up to how he really feels about her (something that had driven a wedge between them and drove her away), they woke up together in San Lorenzo after finally taking down Damian Moreau.

The grifter of the Leverage crew is Sophie Devereaux, played by Gina Bellman. Though she's able to fool anyone when she's running a con, the same cannot be said when she attempts to act onstage. Sophie is not her real name, and though she apparently revealed it to the others while Nate was in jail, she has yet to tell him – despite all the times he has tried to find out.
Sophie can take on whatever role the con calls for (but she cannot sing) and can speak multiple languages in multiple accents. However, because of this ability, no one knows much about her past, and there was speculation that her alias in London as the 18th Duchess of Hanover, Charlotte Prentiss, was her real identity. She is quite the thief and has stolen notable pieces of art, including The Second David from the Vatican.
Sophie has taken on the maternal role with the crew (except Nate). Even when she left after a disagreement with Nate when he couldn't reveal his feelings, the others called her and looked to her for her guidance. She has run a con or two instead of Nate and proved herself worthy of leading the others. Her most complicated relationship is with Nate. The two have a past, and she's the only member of the crew that he himself chose. After taking down Damian Moreau in San Lorenzo, the two woke up in bed together, with the implication that they did take that step in their relationship.

The hitter and muscle of the Leverage crew is Eliot Spencer, played by Christian Kane. He's not one to share information from his past, especially what he did while working for Damian Moreau, which he calls "the worst thing" he ever did.
Eliot fights best with his hands or even a baseball bat, but he's not one to use guns. He knows how to use them and will if he absolutely has to, but he doesn't like them. He also has a softer side, which he has shown off on cons when acting as a chef or singing on stage while playing the guitar.
Though he is a ladies' man, he did have a serious relationship with Aimee Martin, whom he encountered once again while the crew was working a con. He did give her a promise ring, and on another con, he told another girl, whom he also grew close to, that he made the mistake of making a promise to a woman and to the United States Government, and he couldn't keep both.
Eliot is wanted in multiple countries, and he insists that he's not paranoid when he doesn't want his picture out there for the world to see because of that fact.
Eliot generally gets along with the other members of the crew. Though he and Hardison very much have a relationship akin to a sibling rivalry, where they tease one another constantly and Eliot loves to pick on him, but they do respect each other's talents.

The hacker of the Leverage crew is Alec Hardison, played by Aldis Hodge. He is their go-to man for anything in the field of computers and technology, and he's the one tasked with modifying their earbuds and cell phones.
Hardison is also the one who has established the crew's headquarters, first in officers, then once he had to blow those up facing off against Sterling, in Nate's apartment above the bar. He also was the one in charge of first Lucille, and then when they had to replace the van after blowing that up too so they could escape the FBI, Lucille II.
Hardison can also pull off taking on other identities even though he's not a grifter like Sophie. He works best behind computers, but when the con calls for it, he does have skills that can be used in the field. He also showed off some musical skills when a con called for him to play the violin. His skills also extended to forgery when the crew went overseas to London and had to make a journal to trick their target. However, he is not the one the crew would want around if the situation called for any fighting whatsoever (even Parker can fight better than him).
Hardison often pairs up with Eliot, and the two do balance one another out, though they do have an obvious sibling rivalry. Hardison has a crush on Parker, and there is the possibility of them taking that extra step to something more, but since she's not ready yet, he hasn't pressed the subject. |
