So true.. I'm guilty as hell
Excerpt from Why Crystal Bowersox Won't Win 'American Idol'
By Lyndsey Parker
The fact is, while millions of people from all walks of life still watch "American Idol," the voter demographic has drastically changed, in a way that's given male contestants a major advantage. Says one anonymous "Idol" insider: "I've realized lately that the 'Idol' voting fanbase is now totally dominated by 40-plus soccer moms and their tween offspring. It explains the past few years' winners and the weekly voting patterns."
This totally makes sense. It's pretty obvious that in Season 7, the ruggedly handsome David Cook attracted the older-female demographic (there was even a famous fan group called Cougars for Cook), while the little girls voted in droves for non-threatening teen dreamboat David Archuleta. In Season 8, classic-rock-evoking Adam Lambert and bespectacled widower Danny Gokey amassed huge followings among middle-aged women, while the cute and diminutive Kris Allen wooed the teens. This season, it seemed the moms threw their support at Fabio-haired construction worker Casey James, the David Cook-ish strong and silent type Lee DeWyze, and Vandross-like new dad/personal trainer Michael Lynche, while their daughters — some of whom probably had their own crushes on Casey and Lee — swooned for 17-year-old Aaron Kelly. (The younger female voters also probably kept mop-topped Tim Urban in the game much longer than many pundits expected.)

Yg ada cuma feveret ko punya aja
Clues for Lee DeWyze’s songs (this spoiler has never been wrong) [Joe's Place]:
Song #1: “He is going to be put into a rink and fight it out or he doesn’t have to think outside the box for this song”
Song #2: “Everybody might hurt after this song.”
Song #3: “He might have an awful day.”
“The third song they are both singing. However it was not a song just written for them. It did play a big part in American Idols past.”
Vocal coach, Debra Byrd says the coronation songs will be different.
So, For Lee:
The Boxer, Everybody Hurts and Bad Day. Correct? |

I found out the songs from another website : SPOILER ALERT via TMZ:Our spies at the “American Idol” rehearsal today say Crystal Bowersox was so nervous she forgot the words to the song she’ll release if she wins tomorrow night. And Lee DeWyze got ticked off after he got hit with a violin bow.
Both Crystal and Lee will each sing 3 songs. The first song is their choice, the second was chosen by Simon Fuller and the third song is the one that will be released by the winner.
Crystal chose “Me and Bobby McGee” for her first song. Fuller had her sing “Black Velvet.” As for the song she’ll release … it’s called “Up to the Mountain.” Crystal stopped dead in her tracks in the middle of the song and started over.
As for Lee, he chose, “The Boxer,” and Fuller selected “Everybody Hurts.” As for the song he’ll release if he wins … it’s called, “Beautiful Day.”
As Lee finished “Beautiful Day,” a violinist accidentally hit him in the body with his bow. Lee was upset and walked off the stage …. even before the pretend judges could weigh in. |

Wow Crystal really all went out tonight; whereas Lee rasanya dia stage fright kut.
Based on performance all three rounds go to Crystal; tapi votes Americans ni bukannya selalu based on who performed best.
Anyway hoping for a Crystal win |

LEE
For his own pick, Lee went with Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer"--a wise move, since it was one of his best performances of the season. But I remember liking it more the first time, on Inspirational Night. This time, he wasn't very inspiring. He didn't deliver a particularly emotional performance--in fact, it seemed like he'd popped an Ambien before hitting the stage--and yes, he was pitchy. Randy Jackson told him, "That was not an energetic, exciting kind of thing. Pick it up, pick it up! Get some more energy going!" Kara DioGuardi agreed with Randy but thought the song did a good job of telling Lee's personal story of struggle. (Gee, I didn't know "The Boxer" was about paint sales!) Simon Cowell was equally underwhelmed, telling him, "This is the big one, so I would expect a lot more passion. That was like a kiss on the cheek when I wanted a kiss on the lips." (Um, okaaay.) And Ellen DeGeneres, once again proving she always watches some alternate-universe, bizarro-world version of this show that only she can see, said she thought Lee did better with this song better this time around. Whatever.
On his aforementioned Fuller pick, "Everybody Hurts" (which also featured a black-robed choir, which evidently must now accompany Lee at all times according to 19's contract), Lee didn't really show any new side of his personality. It was just another strummy, ho-hummy performance, a boy and his guitar. Unlike past "Idol" covers by people like David Cook, Kris Allen, or Adam Lambert, Lee didn't change up the song at all. Even Ellen thought Lee held back too much. Simon praised the "brilliant choice of song" (by the way, "Everybody Hurts" was Simon's allstar benefit single for Haiti earlier this year), but told Lee that he seemed way too nervous onstage. "Remember, this night could change your life," Simon intoned. Whoa, way to calm Lee's nerves, Simon! Maybe the show wasn't rigged in Lee's favor after all, as that comment was bound to make matters worse.
But it was on his coronation song, "Beautiful Day" (yes, that's right, the U2 song), that Lee messed up the most. "Beautiful Day" is a jubilant anthem, a song of celebration, a song that inspires entire stadiums to do The Wave...but Lee sang it like it was a funeral dirge, without ever cracking a smile. Kara said the song "swallowed him up." Simon barely critiqued his golden boy's performance at all, spending more time harping on Lee's supposed sob story about being "just a guy who needs a break." (Um, wouldn't that describe most people who audition for this show?) It all seemed a little anticlimactic. This was supposed to be Lee's beautiful day, but it wasn't. |

CRYSTAL
For her own song pick, Crystal reprised Janis Joplin's "Me and Bobby McGee," a somewhat obvious choice (just like last week's in-the-box Melissa Etheridge song). And my one complaint here is the same one I had about Lee's "Everybody Hurts": She didn't change it up at all. But she definitely demonstrated more passion than Lee. Randy thought she was "dope"; Ellen called her "compelling"; and Simon said, "This brought me back to the time when we absolutely fell in love with you. We got a competition tonight." Personally, I thought there was no competition at all. Round 1 went to Crystal.
For "Black Velvet" I had low expectations, but man, who knew Crystal had it in her? She strutted out in an LBD, heels, and a Winehouse/Snooki bouffant, and she acted more smoldering and sultry and smoky than I'd ever seen from her before. Her vocals were off in parts, but at least she seemed like she was trying, unlike sleepy Lee. "That's what I'm talking about!" raved Randy. "Mamasox is in it to win it! That was hot!" Added Simon, astutely, "You absolutely nailed it." So Round 2 went to Crystal as well.
For her final performance, "Up to the Mountain" by Patty Griffin (that's right, another non-original), was hardly a typical coronation song, low-key and acoustic--no choirs or bells or whistles. It wasn't something I could imagine hearing on the radio next to, say, "A Moment Like This." But it was a nice song, and the obscurity of the number worked in her favor--Lee's performance was all too easily compared to the famous U2 original, but at least Crystal's version could be judged on its own merit. Crystal's sobbing at the song's end, a rare display of emotion from the usually aloof ice queen, sealed the deal. "This is what this show is about!" screamed Randy. Said Kara, "At times your walls have been up...tonight, you were completely emotionally invested in that song, unlike any other night." And then, Simon Cowell uttered his last three words as an official judge: "That. Was. Outstanding." Crystal will go down in history no matter what for receiving that honor. |
