Canberra volunteers to help in missing plane search
Four specialist SES volunteers from Canberra are joining the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
ABC By Gordon Taylor | ABC – 45 minutes ago
As the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 continues in the southern ocean, four SES volunteers from Canberra are being sent to help. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has requested help from the specialist air search observers.
The volunteers have a specialised skill set which is needed in the search. The husband and wife team of Paul and Jacinta Cortese, plus Chris Viner-Smith and James Montgomery left from Canberra Airport this morning. Paul Cortese says the four day deployment is expected to be exhausting work."They tell us probably eleven hour days, a few hours out to the search zone then we'll all do our searching and a few hours back, but I'm hoping that we can actually stretch our legs in the aircraft so we don't have to sit on our backside all the time.
Acting Chief Officer of the ACT SES Tracey Allen was at the airport to see the volunteers off.She says that relieving searchers is critical."That gives those who have been searching for quite some time a rest, because it is tedious work sometimes when you're sitting on an aircraft looking at one spot or looking over the ocean for a period of time."This is the furthest the observers have gone.Previously they've been involved in searches near Lord Howe Island and in the ocean south of Tasmania. |

Crews searching for signs of wreckage of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 will be joined by a fleet of 3,600 robots that can scour the world's oceans. Marine recovery teams are racing against the clock to find the black boxes before they run out of battery.
Experts said floating debris could quickly drift long distances in a 1.6 million square kilometre part of the ocean with turbulent waves and high winds. The international robot fleet Argo may give international searchers some idea. Argo program director Howard Freeland who is based in North Saanich, B.C., said each robot collects data on ocean currents, salinity and temperature over an area of about 300 square kilometres.
Mr Freeland, a retired scientist of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, further explained that the robots will then send the data via satellite into computer models like the BLUElink. It is a global ocean forecasting system run by three government agencies in Australia.
Most of the robots in the search area for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane are from the US and Australia.

PERTH, Australia -- An Australian official overseeing the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane says underwater sounds picked up by equipment on an Australian navy ship are consistent with transmissions from black box recorders on a plane.
Angus Houston, the head of a joint agency coordinating the search in the southern Indian Ocean, calls it "very encouraging." But he said Monday that it may take days to confirm whether signals picked up by the ship Ocean Shield are indeed from the flight recorders on Flight 370.
He says the position of the noise needs to be further refined, and then an underwater autonomous vehicle can be sent in to investigate.

Body passengers & crews akan diambil bersama tak?
x dapat imagine mcm mana operasi nak keluarkan body passengers tu satu persatu yang masih terperangkap dalam aircraft mh370...
I rasa semua body passengers & crew masih dalam aircraft tu... :-( |

Very unlikely. So mana debrisnya?
