God in Three Persons
The early Christians were quick to spot new heresies. In the third century, Sabellius, a Libyan priest who was staying at Rome, invented a new one. He claimed there is only one person in the Godhead, so that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all one person with different "offices," rather than three persons who are one being in the Godhead, as the orthodox position holds.
Of course, people immediately recognized that Sabellius抯 teaching contradicted the historic faith of the Church, and he was quickly excommunicated. His heresy became known as Sabellianism, Modalism, and Patripassianism. It was called Sabellianism after its founder, Modalism after the three modes or roles which it claimed the one person of the Trinity occupied, and Patripassianism after its implication that the person of the Father (Pater-) suffered (-passion) on the cross when Jesus died.
Because Modalism asserts that there is only one person in the Godhead, it makes nonsense of passages which show Jesus talking to his Father (e.g., John 17), or declaring he is going to be with the Father (John 14:12, 28, 16:10) One role of a person cannot go to be with another role of that person, or say that the two of them will send the Holy Spirit while they remain in heaven (John 14:16-17, 26, 15:26, 16:13 |

UNITY
hi every1, ive read a lot of the comments and seen a lot of disagreements. well this is not surprising as even pastors in the same church disagree on certain issues . however it is important to note that whatever ur stand is, the most important thing is still: love GOD and acknowledge Him as GOD over your life. Im not a pastor/minister but i know that in the history of the Church, there have been many conflicts between denominations and grps etc. It doesnt take a trained theologian to tell that THIS IS NOT WHAT GOD WANTS.
Here's a quote(though not word for word):
"... in things that are essential to our salvation there should be unity. In things that are non-essential we should allow liberty. In all things there should be charity".
"Essential" things would probably refer to obedience to GOD. Here's 2 websites to check out:
http://www.tftw2.org/QA/Q162.htm
http://home1.gte.net/res1gdsz/17one.htm
I sincerely hope that we stop debating(or even arguing) about this. Also, NO OFFENCE to anyone.
God Bless |

THE WORDS OF OUR LORD JESUS HIMSELF (MATTHEW 28:19-20):-
揋O! THEREFORE, AND MAKE DISCIPLE FROM ALL NATIONS, BAPTIZE THEM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER AND OF THE SON AND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND TEACH THEM TO FULFILL ALL THAT I HAVE COMMANDED YOU. I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS UNTIL THE END OF THIS WORLD.擺/size]

The final revelation of the Bible 7 the Book of
Revelation - makes it clear and definite the Holy Spirit IS
NOT A PERSONAL BEING like God and the Lamb !
The theme of God and the Lamb runs constantly
throughout the book of Revelation. In the holy city - New
Jerusalem - there is the THRONE OF GOD AND THE
THRONE OF THE LAMB (Rev.22:l,3).
God the Father has a throne, the Son of God has a
throne, BUT THERE IS NO THRONE FOR THE HOLY
SPIRIT !
Revelation 22: 1 explains everything you need to know
about the Godhead : "And he showed me a pure river of
water, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God
and of the Lamb."
Apostle John sees TWO THRONES : God is One
Person sittmg on one Throne and Christ is the other Person
sitting on the other Throne. The Holy Spirit has no Throne !
The Holy Spirit is not seen as a person but as a river of
water of life coming out from the Two Thrones. The Book
of Revelation explains it in crystal-clear fashion : There are
Two God Beings and the Holy Spirit is the Power of life
issuing from Them.
The Book of Revelation also makes it clear personal
salvation is found only in TWO INDIVIDUALS : God and
the Lamb (7:10).
The verdict : THERE IS NO TRINITY !
Those who teach a triune-God or one-Person God are
adding or subtracting from the word of God ! They say
three or just one when the Book of Revelation and the rest
of the Bible says TWO!

THE FAITH OF OUR FATHERS
Third桝 rule of faith, or a competent guide to heaven, must be able to instruct in all the truths necessary for salvation. Now the Scriptures alone do not contain all the truths which a Christian is bound to believe, nor do they explicitly enjoin all the duties which he is obliged to practice. Not to mention other examples, is not, every Christian obliged to scantify Sunday and to abstain on that day from unnecessary servile work? Is not the observance of this law among the most prominent of our sacred duties? But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify.
The Catholic Church correctly teaches that our Lord and His Apostles inculcated certain important duties of religion which are not recorded by the inspired writers. |
