1. Perlukah kita mendapat 'pengiktirafan' dari negara luar??
2. Glamour sangat ker jadi guard kat istana tu?
3. Dah banyak $$$ rakyat?
4. Pak Jeneral n Menteri dah kehabisan idea ker??
1. Perlu. Tradisi Royal Guards di Buckingham Palace pun kita telah warisi & adaptasi setelah negara in merdeka, malah tradisi ketenteraan UK pun kita warisi hasil kerjasama erat sejak penubuhan Askar Melayu hinggalah pd zaman darurat & Konfrantasi.
2. Glamor la ... Especially bila muka sojar kiter terpampang kat blog2 online, kira femes la, ada gak masuk youtube. Dari kena sembelih 'live' drp Al-Qaeda kat Iraq, kira femes what. Brp kerat anak Melayu dpt kawal Istana tuh. Dpt kawal Istana Negara pun dah kembang idong, apatah lg istana Buckingham ....
3. Hek eleh, brapa sgt RM 1 juta lebih, berbanding puluhan juta yg dibazirkan pd projek Gomen yg tak menjd. Carik isu lain la weiiii ....
4. Org dah jemput, kita pi lah. Apa susah. UK mmg bekas penjajah, tp depa tulung kita time darurat serta konfrantasi dulu, termasuk askar2 Komanwel. So kira penghargaan besaula dpt kawal keselamatan kediaman rasmi Ketua bagi Kesatuan Komanwel. |

'RAMD di London bukan membazir'Daripada Zaharah Othman
![](http://www.bharian.com.my/Wednesday/Nasional/20080521001816/mainpix)
KERJASAMA ERAT: Dannat dan Muhammad Ismail (kanan) selepas menyaksikan istiadat penukaran pengawal RAMD dengan pengawal Coldstream Guards, di Istana Buckingham, semalam.
| LONDON: Kehadiran anggota Batalion Pertama Rejimen Askar Melayu Diraja (RAMD) mengawal istana diraja Britain mempunyai banyak faedah, selain mengeratkan silaturahim antara tentera darat kedua-dua negara serta menonjolkan Malaysia sebagai destinasi pelancong.
Panglima Tentera Darat, Jeneral Tan Sri Muhammad Ismail Jamaluddin semalam menafikan misi yang dikatakan membabitkan belanja RM1.9 juta sebagai 'membuang masa dan membazir.'
Bercakap selepas menyaksikan istiadat penukaran pengawal antara pengawal RAMD dengan pengawal Coldstream Guards, Muhammad Ismail berkata:
"Mereka mungkin salah anggap.

CGS meets Malaysian counterpartA People In Defence news article19 May 08
The Chief of the Malaysian Army, General Tan Sri Muhammad Ismail Bin Hj Jamaluddin, met with the Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Richard Dannatt, in London today, Monday 19 May 2008.

Following a Guard of Honour at Horse Guards and discussions in the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Whitehall, the two Army chiefs watched the 1st Royal Malay Regiment (1 RMR) change guard at Buckingham Palace, accompanied by the Garrison Sergeant Major of London District and the Regimental Sergeant Major of 1st Royal Malay Regiment.
Since he visiting troops, renowned for their smartness and prowess in drill, arrived in the UK they have captured the interest of many people who have watched them carry out their duties. The Regimental Band of 1 RMR recently took part in the Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo attended by HM The Queen and they are also expected to have a role in the Beating Retreat on Horse Guards in June.
General Dannatt believes today's meeting was significant:
"The idea came about when I visited General Ismail in Malaysia. Her Majesty The Queen agreed that to have 1st Royal Malay Regiment guarding the Royal Palaces is a highly symbolic and important role, reflecting the close relationship between our two countries as members of the Commonwealth."
General Jamaluddin added:
"It is a tremendous honour for the Royal Malay Regiment to be guarding the Royal Palaces. The Regiment has strong links with the British Army dating back to 1933 and we are extremely pleased to see those links today with our soldiers marching past Buckingham Palace."

Malaysia is a key ally and fellow member of the Commonwealth, the UK having a strong bilateral relationship with Malaysia across Government. Malaysia has also provided key support to the United Nations in other countries and plays a key role in maintaining stability in its own region.
Malaysia responded to the invitation by Her Majesty The Queen to conduct public duties in London; Commonwealth countries have participated in public duties before, most recently the Jamaican Defence Force last year and, in previous years, Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces. The public duties role is normally carried out by the Foot Guards Battalions based in London and Windsor, along with the three Incremental Public Duties Companies and a line infantry Battalion based in Hounslow; all these troops regularly deploy on operations.
Lieutenant Colonel Jeremy Bagshaw, Brigade Major at London District Headquarters, said:
"We are delighted to welcome the Royal Malay Regiment to participate in ceremonial duties. We are most impressed with their turnout and the quality of their drill. We are looking forward to their band of the RMR delivering a special performance at Beating Retreat to be held here on Horse Guards on the 4th and 5th June."
Founded by British Commanding Officer G McBruce in 1933, the Royal Malay Regiment began life as an experimental Company of just 25 men, becoming the Malay Regiment, with a complement of 150 men, early in 1935. The Regiment now consists of 25 Battalions and has a distinguished record in World War II, the Malayan Emergency and the Indonesian Confrontation. The RMR is currently based in Uxbridge and is allied to the Royal Anglian Regiment. |
