Lewis takes a dig at Alonso


Lewis Hamilton has taken a dig at FernandoAlonso, saying he expects far more harmony at McLaren now that he has anew team-mate in Heikki Kovalainen.

Hamilton's first season at McLaren last season was marred by tension between himself and Alonso.

The relationship hit an all-time low at the Hungarian GP whenboth drivers tried to damage the others chances of clinching poleposition on the Saturday.

McLaren were eventually penalised for their drivers' behaviour,while Alonso was dropped down the grid for his part in holding upHamilton.

However, the situation came to an end at the conclusion of theseason when McLaren announced that Alonso would no longer be drivingfor them in 2008.

That, though, has stopped Hamilton from taking a dig at hisformer team-mate during McLaren's launch of the new MP4-24 in Stuttgartearlier this week.

"You know how it is with certain people," he said, "some peopleyou ask questions and they give you one-word answers and some peoplemake the conversation and are just easy.

"With Heikki I don't need to make the conversation, he is happyto start it and we just can talk for ages. And I think he has verysimilar views to me.

"He loves the car without traction control, he loves racing wheel to wheel, he loves a real true spirit race.

"With that I think it just makes everything a little bit simpler."

The McLaren driver has also rubbished Ferrari's suggestions thathe could struggle this season with the new ban on traction control.

The Scuderia's team manager Luca Baldisserri recently said hedoubts Hamilton's driving style will suit F1 ban on the driver aid.

"I think that, with these new regulations, Lewis Hamilton may have a rough time," Baldisserri told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"For sure he won't be able to carry on driving the way he has,and even though he raced and won in GP2 without traction control, hewas on different tyres."

However, the 23-year-old disagrees.

"Maybe they are the ones that will have problems," he said.

"I have raced without traction before and won races and Championships.

"It will be slightly different in Formula 1 and at times it willbe tricky. But all the drivers have the ability to deal with it.

"Those with more talent will get to grips with it faster and better. Let's wait and see who that is."

JENTERA MP4-23 menjadi taruhan McLaren bagi
mengharungi saingan musim ini.


GANDINGAN Lewis Hamilton dan Heikki Kovalainen dijangka bakalmemberi lembaran baru buat pasukan McLaren pada perlumbaan Formula Satu(F1) musim ini.



McLaren hampir pasti dilihat sebagai sebuah pasukan yang mampu memberi saingan sengit kepada Ferrari.

Tambahan pula, pasukan yang berpangkalan di Woking itu dilaporkanmahu membalas dendam ekoran kegagalan mereka pada saingan musim lalu.

Hamilton, 23, hampir bergelar juara dunia, namun dia dikecewakanpemandu Ferrari, Kimi Raikkonen pada perlumbaan terakhir di Brazil.

Pemandu berasal dari Britain itu hanya tewas satu mata kepadaRaikkonen, sekali gus menghalangnya untuk bergelar juara dunia palingmuda dalam sejarah F1.

Sebelum itu, peluang McLaren meraih gelaran bagi kategori pengeluardiragut selepas mata yang diperoleh pasukan itu ditarik balik ekoranskandal intipan.

Kini, McLaren sudah bersedia mengharungi musim baru dengan adanya Hamilton dan Kovalainen.





Kovalainen, 27, mengisi tempat bekas juara dunia sebanyak dua kali,Fernando Alonso yang meninggalkan pasukan itu untuk kembali semula kepangkuan ke Renault.

Hamilton dan Kovalainen dilihat semakin serasi apabila merekamenguji jentera baru MP4-23 di Litar Jerez, Sepanyol baru-baru ini.

Lebih menarik apabila Hamilton mengakui, hubungannya dengan Kovalainen lebih harmoni ketika dia bersama Alonso musim lalu.

Schumacher expects Renault, BMW to pose problems

MADONNA DI CAMPIGLIO (Italy): Seven-times Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher believes Renault and BMW can improve this season and threaten Ferrari and McLaren at the top of the sport.  

Fernando Alonso has quit McLaren to return to Renault, who struggled last year having powered the Spaniard to the title in 2005 and 2006. BMW finished second last season after McLaren were stripped of their constructor points in a spy scandal.

揑 would expect to see a very close fight between the two main teams but then I would see Renault and BMW able to close the gap and they may enter into the top two,
