battle of the lone star state - #1 texas at #6 texas tech. still in the first quarter, red raiders are leading longhorns 19-0. could tech claim the top spot this week?
with less than 2 minutes left, longhorns took their first lead of the night at 33-32. then, harrell led the comeback by throwing a td pass to crabtree with 1 second left on the clock. red raiders won 39-33, what a game!
red raiders still have to face #9 oklahoma state next week and #4 oklahoma in 3 weeks. if they won both games, they will have a really big chance to play for fedex bcs national championship at orange bowl in miami, florida; most probably against alabama crimson tide.
Texas defense was obviously shaky in other games prior to this game, proven in game against Mizzou. Offensively, Texas was struggle against Ok State last week. So its not suprising that Texas will lose this game although Texas' odd are higher coming Saturday. Well upset on #1 poll has become more common lately. Bama will definitely move to #1 spot. Do you forget Penn State?
i can't say texas defense are shaky because they are really good. it just happened that they have to play 4 straight top 15 teams, including last night. so, their weaknesses will be shown here and there, and they are bound to lose at least one of those games, and it just happened the game against texas tech. we can't condone the way they won the game against the sooners because it's not easy to beat oklahoma in their own turf. against mizzou, it could be a let down game after beating #1 team, but they didn't and it could carry to the next game, against the cowboys, again, they didn't. finally, they ran out of gas against red raiders but they still managed to come back in the second half, until the great comeback in texas tech history led by graham harrell. even that, tech was lucky because graham's pass prior to the touchdown was dropped by texas defender; ran right through his hands. again, it's not easy to keep your emotion in check when you're playing top teams week in and week out.
i don't forget penn state. i just don't think they deserve to be in top 2 because they don't play a worthy opponent - the only teams worthy of mentioning are ohio state and michigan state (their last game). i don't think penn state can beat longhorns, gators, trojans or sooners. they may be able to beat texas tech, but it has to be on their ground. seriously, do you think nittany lions are better than texas, oklahoma, florida and usc? to me, gators with they spread offense leads by tim tebow are the best team in the nation right now. they just demolished georgia. unfortunately, they don't get a chance to play crimson tide.
if schedule and worthiness of opponents are the factors into determining the ranking, wow i can't believe they put Texas below USC. they way i see it, because Texas cannot maintain the same consistency in the O and D line, while USC is literally slaughtering most of their opponents. i don't get any chance to watch penn state game so i didnt know how good they really are. at least statistically they look sharp. yeah i couldn't agree more with florida being the hottest team right now. but again its kinda hard to see who's really good unless if they play each other. that's what i dun like about college football but. it's not once you heard about lopsided win in national championship game, evidence by last year OSU's ass beating by LSU.
well, you can't base on schedule and worthiness of opponents alone, but you do have to consider those. you still have to consider how the team play, the talent they have, etc. overall, usc is a better team than texas (except quarterback, mccoy is way better than sanchez, just my opinion). however, texas played better opponents. as for penn state, they fall below usc and texas in both categories, in my opinion. based on statistics, penn state looks really good, but stats are overrated most of the time. that's why ohio state got slaughter when they played in national champhionships, because they hardly played a worthy opponents the last two years and their talent level was not what everybody thought.
anyway, football is football, i still love it. i don't like the system but i'll keep watching and following them because it's one of the best sports in north america, besides pro football and pro ice hockey. only college football can attract over 110,000 fans every saturday with thousands more disappointed for not being able to secure the tickets.
nak tengok OB next year.... sebenarnya tak minat sangat
pernah tengok sekali aje 2002 - tak silap masa tu gators menang -
minat SB lagi.. wala ...
attee, wehh!!!
ha ah... alumni teman. skrg baru dema hot walhal masa teman mngaji situ dulu dema ni team belasahan. masa tu micheal vick QB. dia tak mngaji abih bila pilih utk drafted into NFL semasa tahun akhir. main dlm nfl OK juga tapi kena sacked slps didapati bersalah anjurkan laga anjing di rumah dia. apalaaa bangang dia ni masa tu. fame dh ada, duit dh ada tp itu punya pasal convicted and sent to jail. skrg ni adik dia tgh bikin nama dlm NCAA ball
last night rose bowl game proved again, how overrated big ten teams are. penn state who owns one of the top defenses in the country could not keep up with usc big speedy offense at all. the score, usc won 38-24, doesn't indicate how the game went. pac-10 conference is much better than their overall record indicated and they will never get respect as they should due to east coast bias. they are 5-0 in bowl games this year. i don't think either florida or oklahoma can match up with usc.
masa astro tunjuk delayed orange bowl game, teman terperosok dlm bilik kolej teman sbb teman ada kelas esoknye (pagi sabtu). maka bila balik kjp tdi bukan internet baru dapat tahu, virginia tech menang...
As a big-12 fan duh i have to admit Pac-10 have shown a strong statement about the worthiness and strength of their conference. Big 12 are disappointing on their display in bowl games, including the big moaner Longhorns struggling to even score a touchdown in the first half (I'm watching Fiesta Bowl while typing this submission) against the second best team in Big 10 . Big 10 are big jokes of the league I hate them (and *cough* Pac-10 *cough*) because of their adamant to Rose Bowl tradition. Had it not been the Rose Bowl, the playoff might be possible and we won't see another whiner bitching about the unfairness of Bull Crap System and all the media polling and voting for supposedly two bestest team in the league. In all fairness, I won't be quick to judge USC as the "best" since they do not even play either Sooners or Gators. Sooners and Gators may be weaker defensively as compared to USC but college football is not all about strategies, recruits, coachings, records and stuff, but those who show more intensity and play with hearts of champion (and a lil bit of help from above) will win.
