On the occasion of the new year, the Royal House of Bhutan published the first photograph of the entire royal family. The photo shows King Jigme Khesar, Queen Jetsun Pema, Crown Prince Jigme Namgyel, Prince Ugyen Wangchuck and Princess Sonam Yangden together. The King and Queen of Bhutan congratulated the New Year of everyone. The Gyalsem (the Princess) was born on September 9, 2023 at Lingkana Palace in Thimpu. The only daughter of King Jigme Khesar and Queen Jetsun Pema has been named Sonam Yangden. |

Bhutanese King and Queen's State visit to Bangladesh, 2nd day
As special guests for the celebration of Bangladesh's Independence and National Day, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan visited the National Martyr's Memorial in Savar, Bangladesh early this morning for a ceremony to pay tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 War of Independence.

Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck visited Australia, accompanied by Queen Jetsun Pema, their children Prince Jigme Namgyel and Prince Ugyen, and Princess Sonam Yangden. The trip to the cities of Sydney, Canberra, and Perth in Australia aimed to further strengthen the diplomatic ties between Australia and Bhutan. Notably, Perth is home to the largest Bhutanese population in the southern hemisphere.
