SCANDAL to start collaboration project with a robot
It’s been revealed that SCANDAL will be collaborating with a robot to start on a project called ‘Robot・Scandal‘.
This project will send out new contents for the world from the commercial facility, ‘Grand Front Osaka’, which opens in the Umekita district in Osaka on April 26. SCANDAL will be working together with ‘Robi‘, a robot designed by Takahashi Tomotaka, to create a new song and music video. The girls will be holding a live at Grand Front Osaka in late-July, where they will perform the new song for the first time.
On her blog, RINA (Dr, Vo) commented, “I think Osaka will become an even greater city. There are many people who move to Tokyo in order to make their dreams come true, but I’m certain that Osaka will become an area overflowing with chances. I was born in Osaka, raised in Nara, and made a band in Osaka. It will always be a special place. I want it to always be a lively city.”

Base Ball Bear to release new mini-album in June
It’s been revealed that Base Ball Bear will be releasing a new mini-album (currently untitled) on June 26th.
This will be Base Ball Bear’s 3rd mini-album following “GIRL FRIEND” (released April 2006) and “Hatsukoi” (July 2012). Aside the brand new songs, the album will contain live audio clips from their nationwide tour, ‘Band B no Yukue Tour‘, which kicked off on April 4th. It will be released in both regular and complete production editions.

Sonar Pocket to release new double A-side single
Sonar Pocket will be releasing their new double A-side single, “Kataomoi. ~Linaria~ / Start Line!“, on May 15th.
“Start Line!” is the ending theme song for NHK Sogou’s anime, ‘Danchi Tomoo‘, which starts on April 6th. It’s described as a song perfect for the spring season with a positive message that will push the backs of those who listen to it.
The single will be released in 3 different types: Limited Edition, First-Run Limited Edition, and Regular Edition. Limited Edition will come with a DVD with the video clip and making-of footage for “Kataomoi. ~Linaria~”, while the First-Run Limited Edition comes with a ‘Danchi Tomoo’ collaboration jacket cover.

Gouriki Ayame to be the “master” of Mizushima Hiro in upcoming “Kuroshitsuji” movie
It was revealed that actress Gouriki Ayame is appearing in a live-action movie adaptation of Toboso Yana’s manga “Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler)”, which will be Mizushima Hiro’s comeback movie as an actor.
Gouriki plays a character based on “Genpou Shiori” from the manga who disguises herself as a man, and she will be the “master” of Sebastian Michaelis that will be played by Mizushima.

The story is set in Asia in 2020 when West and East cultures are mixed in confusion. A young girl Genpou Shiori is a descendant of the the Phantomhive noble family. Shiori runs a large enterprise, Funtom Company, and she disguises herself in male attire, naming herself “Kiyoharu”. The family only allows males to be the head of the family, and they have also been tasked with the duty to solve difficult cases that happen in the underbelly of society by order of the queen. In order to get revenge, she gave up her life as a woman and made a contract with the demon butler, Sebastian Michaelis, in which Sebastian protects Shiori until she completes her revenge in exchange for devouring her soul.

Gouriki commented, “I’m extremely nervous. Since my role will be a woman who dresses herself in male attire, I’m thinking about many ways to prepare for the role.” She continued, “As the story is different from the original manga, there may be many opinions, but I want to try expressing human emotions in this live-action adaptation.”
Reportedly, the filming for the movie started in the beginning of this month, and the movie is scheduled to open in theaters in early spring of 2014.

Nakashima Mika to challenge herself to voice acting for the first time
On April 4th, singer Nakashima Mika attended a press conference to announce the voice cast of the Japanese dubbed version of the animated movie, ‘Despicable Me 2‘ (scheduled for release in September).
Nakashima will challenge herself to voice acting for the first time with the role of ‘Lucy’, a mysterious girl who the protagonist ‘Gru’ falls in love with. While she commented, “It’s my first time so I’m very nervous,” she also showed enthusiasm saying, “I hope to have as much fun as possible.”
This movie is the sequel to ‘Despicable Me‘, which was released back in 2010. Rakugo storyteller Shofukutei Tsurube child actress Ashida Mana will reprise the roles of ‘Gru’ and ‘Agnes’.
After meeting Ashida for the first time in 3 years, Tsurube said, “I’m happy we’ve met again. She’s gotten pretty.” Ashida also exclaimed, “I’m happy to see Tsurube-san!”
Before the actual recording, Nakashima did the voice-dubbing for the movie’s trailer. “It was difficult. I didn’t know anything,” she shared. Tsurube, who has already watched the trailer, praised her saying, “You did good!” Nakashima responded, “It’s difficult. I don’t have any experience, so I am going to practice a lot.”

FLiP to release new album in June + live tour
Rock band FLiP has announced that they will be releasing a new album (currently untitled) on June 26.
This was announced on April 4 during their live, ‘RESPECT‘, at WWW in Shibuya. When Sachiko (Vo, G) announced the release of their 3rd album, the crowd broke out into cheers and applause.
After the release of their new album, the girls will be holding a live tour in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya. You can check out the schedule below the cut.

VAMPS reveal new artist photo + launches official Facebook
VAMPS, who will be releasing their new live DVD & Bluray ‘VAMPS LIVE 2012‘ on April 24, has revealed a new artist photo. They have also launched their official Facebook page.
On Facebook, VAMPS plan to occasionally share video messages as well as the latest information for both domestic and international fans. You can check out their Facebook page here.
It was also revealed that the limited edition of ‘VAMPS LIVE 2012′ will come with footage from their visit to the disaster-stricken areas, and live performances and off-shots from their concert at Zepp Sendai.
Furthermore, VAMPS will be holding their live tour, ‘VAMPS LIVE 2013‘, starting in June. They are currently scheduled to hold a total of 23 shows.

Kasai Tomomi’s graduation date from AKB48 revealed
It was announced on AKB48’s official blog that Kasai Tomomi’s graduation from the group will be on May 3rd, after the Shinoda team A performance at AKB48 theater.
Kasai previously announced her graduation on the stage of “the 2nd AKB48 Kohaku Taikou Uta Gassen” held on December 17th of last year. Additionally, her last appearance for a handshake event will be on April 20th which will be held at Makuhari Messe.
On May 8th, right after her graduation, she is set to release her 2nd single (currently untitled) that has been chosen as the ending theme for upcoming drama “Meshibana Deka Tachibana“, in which she will appear as the heroine.

AKB48’s Kuramochi Asuka to make her solo debut
It’s been revealed that AKB48’s Kuramochi Asuka will be making her debut with the release of her first single on May 29.
This was announced on April 6 during a handshake event at Makuhari Messe. Kuramochi, who became the “2nd Gachiuma Queen” of AKB48’s horse race project, appeared at the event dressed as a horse race jockey. Following Kasai Tomomi, she’s the 2nd member to make her solo debut as the prize for winning the project. To coincide her solo debut, she will also be releasing her 1st solo photo book.
Kuramochi’s solo debut song will be used in the CM for JRA (Japan Racing Association), and she will also star in the CM. The single will be released under Avex in 5 different types. Each jacket cover will be shot by a different magazine: Young Champion, Friday, B.L.T., Weekly Playboy, and Weekly Big Comic Spirits. There will also be a project in which the magazines will compete for the number of CD sales.
Kuramochi passed AKB48’s first trainee auditions back in 2007, and has been a regular member since 2008. She’s also a part of French Kiss with Kashiwagi Yuki and Takajo Aki.

Model Kuroki Natsumi gives birth to her first child
It’s been reported that model Kuroki Natsumi (28) has given birth to a 2,790g (6lb 2oz) baby girl on April 5th at 7:00 am.
On her official blog, she wrote, “Although it was a little earlier than the expected date, both mother and child are in healthy condition. It was more difficult than I had imagined, but after my bag broke, I went to the hospital and started having contractions in just 4 hours. I was able to have an easy delivery!!!”
She also uploaded a photo of her newborn baby and expressed, “Until now, she grew up healthily in my stomach. I’m filled with happiness and gratitude that she was born healthily.” She continued, “Right now, she’s too cute and precious that I can’t take my eyes off her.”
Aside from modeling, Kuroki has been active as a designer by launching the fashion brand, ‘yupendi‘. She had announced her pregnancy in December of last year.

Tommy february6 to release a new album in June
It’s been revealed that Tommy february 6 will be releasing a new album (currently untitled) in June. Her new song, “Runaway“, which will be included in the album, has been picked up as the ending theme for TV Tokyo’s ‘Jitsuryoku Sekai no Mystery‘.
“Runaway” is a number with all-English lyrics, and is described as a sad romantic tune. It will be used in the documentary variety program starting on its April 8th episode.

AKB48’s Akimoto Sayaka announces her graduation
AKB48 member Akimoto Sayaka announced, on her official blog, that she would not participate in upcoming Senbatsu general election and that she would graduate from the group.
Below is what she posted on her blog.

The Senbatsu General Election. Today is the deadline to run as a candidate for the general election.
Until the very last minute, I was thinking in my own way if I would participate, and while I was thinking about it, it also led me to start thinking of when the timing for my graduation would be.
These past 8 years, I’ve learned and felt a lot of things, and enjoyed the joys of my youth. Because of Akimoto Sensei, staff members, fans, fellow members, family, and other innumerable supports, Akimoto Sayaka is here now. I’m truly grateful.
However, my thoughts that I wanted to step up to a new world while keeping things I learned and experienced from AKB48 in mind, and that I wanted to gain more experiences in order to pursue my future dream to be an actress, got stronger.
Thus, after thinking thoroughly, I’ve decided to make an announcement at this point of the general election.
I, Akimoto Sayaka, will graduate from AKB48 without participating in the upcoming Senbatsu general elections.

SID to release new single + nationwide tour
SID will be releasing a new single (currently untitled) in July. They will also hold a nationwide tour called ‘SID 10th Anniversary TOUR 2013‘ from late-July to late-August.
This was announced at the end of SID’s 10th anniversary live, ‘SID 10th Anniversary LIVE‘, on April 6th at Yokohama Stadium. The single and tour will be the 5th and 6th parts of the band’s anniversary project.
The single’s title and release date will be revealed in the coming days. Meanwhile, their upcoming tour will kick off on July 27th at Uminonakamichikaihin Park in Fukuoka for a total of 5 shows. Tickets will go on sale on June 22nd.

Noriko Sakai makes first television appearance since drugs scandal
ENTERTAINMENT APR. 08, 2013 - 06:04AM JST ( 20 )TOKYO —
Actress-singer Noriko Sakai, 42, has made her TV comeback in a commercial for rock band Baroque.
Sakai is currently attempting to make her showbiz comeback, starting with stage appearances in December, following a drug scandal in August 2009 for which she received a three-year suspended sentence for drug abuse.
The next of Sakai’s tentative first steps back into the limelight comes in the form of an appearance in a commercial for the new album “Nonfiction” by rock band Baroque.
Sakai appears in a white dress in the commercial, harmonizing with the band’s vocalist on an a capella version of the track “Kizuna.”

MIYAVI announces self-titled album + live tour
To further expand his activities abroad, MIYAVI will be working in Japan under ‘MIYAVI’ (previously 雅-MIYAVI-), which is the same name he already uses overseas. He will be releasing his self-titled album on June 19, and will also be holding a nationwide tour called ‘MIYAVI “SLAP THE BEAT” TOUR 2013‘ starting in mid-September.
For his new album, MIYAVI has adopted the EDM sound to his slap guitar technique. It will be produced by Dean Gillard. He is currently recording in London. Universal Music’s chief executive Max Hall commented, “I am very happy to welcome MIYAVI to the EMI / Universal team. I also have great hopes for his new album that’s currently under production with Global A&R team. As EMI / Universal, we intend to promote MIYAVI and his music to our fullest to the world.”
MIYAVI’s upcoming tour will kick off on September 16 at Osaka BIG CAT for a total of 6 performances. He’s also planning to hold a world tour to coincide with the release of his new album.
