Akak, kelas saya 18 jah... Dengan rela hati saya korbankan diri x gitu haha

Sekolah weol pun tak ramai pelajar. Paling ramai 31 orang ja sekelas. Tu pun form 3. Yang lain rata2 sekitar 25-26 orang sekelas. Form 5 pon 51 orang ja. Takda masalah sangat if nak buat penjarakkan sosyal. Perlu 3 kelas ja.

Untuk sekolah yg pelajar x ramai mungkin bukan masalah besar utk ikut sop ni. Yg pelajar ramai mcm manalah pulak gayanya nanti contoh sekolah rendah anak aku..ada 2 sesi, purata 1 kelas ada 36 pelajar. Kelas pun share sesi pagi dgn petang.

Parents, teachers agree to limit number of students | New Straits Times
5-6 minutes

KUALA LUMPUR: Parents and teachers have mostly reacted positively to the announcement on limiting the number of students in a class as a preventive measure against Covid-19 when schools reopen, but some have reservations on its effectiveness.

A 52-year-old mum of five from Kedah, who declined to be named, said the plan seemed foolproof.

"It is a good move to limit it to 16 or 17 students in a class, compared with the previous 20 or more students.

"It will allow teachers to focus on a student's individual learning while practising social distancing," she told the New Straits Times yesterday.

She said as long as there was strict adherence to guidelines and standard operating procedure, it should not be an issue for schools to limit the number of students in a classroom.

"We have to acknowledge that e-learning is good in the current situation, but the upper forms, such as Form 5 students, are old enough to comprehend the dangers of Covid-19 and the importance of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia.
They should know how to behave and be responsible."

She did not reject the benefit of e-learning from home, but said the method was unsuitable for semi-urban and rural students.

Mother Kahtina Ibrahim, 40, said she agreed with the move, adding that the guidelines would be an advantage to teachers.

"It has been a long holiday for my kids. They are starting to miss out on their school syllabus.

"Sure, they are following online classes, tests and exams. However, I can assure you that they are not able to focus as much as they should in a classroom.

"They miss going to school and learning in a classroom environment, where they can interact better with teachers and their classmates."

She said limiting the number of students to 16 to 17 per class would help students progress better as teachers would be in a better position to focus on them.

Nevertheless, Kahtina had concerns about how students and teachers would be able to catch up with the syllabus.

"Yes, there is e-learning going on now, but some students are not able to focus 100 per cent, while some are missing out as maybe they have telecommunication connectivity issues, or worse, they don't have the gadgets."

Secondary school science teacher Imran Rahimi Abdul Rahman, 38, said he was concerned about the imbalance in the number of students between rural, suburban and urban areas.

"If student enrolment in a certain area is high, I wonder how schools will cope with the guideline to limit the number of students to 16 or 17 in a class.

"We have to take into account the limited number of classrooms we have in a school."

Nevertheless, he said, it was a good move to ensure students adhere to social distancing rules.

Bahasa Malaysia teacher Siti Shaidatul Akmal Rohaizan, 29, said it was hard to control students' movement during recess and after school.

"We must take into consideration the time when they wait for their parents after school. I believe that is the peak time when they mingle with each other.

"It is hard to keep track of their movement during recess, too, and the size of the canteen is very limited if we want to practise social distancing."

National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) president Aminuddin Awang lauded the move to implement social distancing in the classroom.

He said NUTP was in the final phase of a pedagogical study on social distancing and would present the outcome to the Education Ministry next week.

NUTP secretary-general Harry Tan said the study was conducted by NUTP's task force in collaboration with education experts from Universiti Malaya in April.

"The task force comprises experts from teachers' training institutes and a few universities.

"We even conducted a survey and received feedback from more than 10,000 respondents nationwide.

"In short, we are proposing a scientific way of teaching for all teachers in and outside the country."

Tan said he was hopeful that the study could be used as a guideline for teaching and learning in the post-Covid-19 era.

Parent Action Group for Education chairman Datin Noor Azimah Abdul Rahim felt it was not necessary for students to return to school.

"There may not even be a vaccine for this virus as it continues to mutate. Even now, we still do not have a vaccine for dengue and other infections."

She said she believed it was time the Education Ministry invested more in digital learning as a long-term measure and to face other eventualities in the future.

She said it was time for the whole country to be connected, not just for the children, but for adults, too.

"Those who are disadvantaged will be left behind. However, that should not be the scenario in this case, as every child should be treated equally.

"For those with gadget issues, such as students from the B40 community, I believe the burden falls on the Education Ministry to invest or get a private sector partner to help them solve the issue."

Nevertheless, Azimah said, she agreed with the reopening of schools, especially for students who will be sitting for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia.

She said e-learning was still an unreliable method at this point.
