kalau nak lagi murah traveling around london...kena ada OYSTER card
mmg berbaloi..single bus fare trip is 0.80pence as opposed to 1.50pounds normal price
and tube single fare kalau guna oyster is 1.50pounds as opposed to 3pounds normal price
hari tu i balik from heathrow guna oyster card hanya kena 1 POUND SAHAJA

how to get oyster card?
can get it from their kiosks or any underground station
tak payah register/apply ke apa
just pay deposit of 3 pounds and top up berapa byk u nak (boleh top up di machine dlm underground station)
that card takde expiry date so u boleh simpan card tu or boleh minta refund 3 pounds deposit u balik
kalau u decide to return the card bila nak balik kl nnt

heart_less, you can always get tube train from heathrow to central London (e.g.Picaddily Circus, Leicester). I think that's much more convenient.

basically my advice is this - get a guide book of the place you are going and read it.
Yana kalau nak travel mana2 - be it in malaysia or overseas - my first preparation is a good guide book. read it and get a rough idea of what you're getting yourself into.  

Then kalau ada apa2 yg tak faham boleh tanya org kat sini. I'm saying this because, kalau heart takde idea langsung what London is about ke, what kind of transport they use - susah la nak tanya the right questions.

To me, London is very tourist friendly. Lepas sampai kat airport - (AFTER alllllll the hassle at immigration that is) - nak gi London ada byk cara - Heart boleh naik BUS (advantage, boleh tgk the sights along the way) or the TRAIN (straightforward tapi most of the time tak sempat tgk apa2 and bila dah dekat ngan London, dok asyik tgk dinding terowong je lerrr...) or kalau banyak ongkos, naik la CAB (warning - very the expensive) which will take you straight to where you want to go....

Heart akan tinggal kat mana? Dah ada tempat tinggal ke? Sebelum bertolak, try print out a map of the Underground (FYI, Underground jugak dipanggil TUBE - so jgn lak terconfuse) - pada Yana, travel ngan underground senang gak tapi hati2 kena take note the direction of the tube - tapi kalau tersalah pun, kuar je at the next stop and take train yang go in the opposite direction.

Kalau naik bus takut senang confuse. Tapi kalau rajin nak teliti information travel kat tiang2 bus stop dia, senang jugak sebenarnya. One thing about London, dia punya public transport is so efficient and senang nak tangkap.

Kalau tak kenal sesiapa - my best bet is to go to a) Malaysia Hall punya cantee (kalau masih ada la) and mana2 restaurant Malaysia - gerenti jumpa Malaysians lah!
or b) Masjid - mungkin juga dpt jumpa malaysians kat sini....

Tapi personally Yana lebih suka figure out my own way around - TAPI make sure korang pandai baca map la. Yana nie kalau ada map, letak mana2 pun boleh jalan....

hope this helps - Yana pun dah lama tinggalkan UK - mesti dah byk yg berubah....

London ada 6 zones.. Central London zone 1-2.. Heathrow kat zone 6.. Kalau you adventurous.. beli je one day travelcard.. boleh naik "tube" ke central london dan boleh guna card tu untuk naik bus/tube dlm zone 1-6 until 12 mn..

I think from Heathrow airport pun boleh dpt flights to Oslo... tapi you better check on this .. London ada satu lagi airport, ie. Gatwick..

Ok, most probably i'll be staying wif a fren.. in manchester since she asked me to go to manchester.. she'll pick me up there BUT i wud love to go sightseeing London first before i go to her place. She's working.. so i still need someone to assist me. I ni jenis penakut la jugak, tak berani la nak jalan sorg2 kat London tu..

Nothing to worry heart_less. As long as you don't venture out to dark alleys at night InsyaAllah you'll be fine. Avoid slum areas, and if you're on your own try not to go out after dark esp. on Friday & Saturday nights... waktu ni mat salleh tend to mabuk2.

Oh lagi satu, be careful with pickpockets.

p/s: duduk kat Manchester best tuh :bgrin: ... ask your friend to take you to Stoke-On-Trent, boleh beli dinner set. I heard Royal Doulton ada sale gila-gila, satu soup bowl only £2.00, and that's first quality!!!

i think dari segi crime rate - dia lebih kurang KL je la.
during the day time i guess it's not too bad if you stick to the tourist spots - tapi I remember dulu masa study, jenjalan malam2 near midnight pun ok jugak - takde apa2 pun...

as usual, take precautions like you would travel to any other place - keep your passports with you at all times - lagi bagus kalau boleh pakai beg yang gantung kat leher tu ke - don't keep all your money in one place.

kalau tinggal ngan kawan kat Manchester, how many days are you in London? sehari, dua hari? are you by yourself or with your husband?

ye lah, depending on the number of days tu, boleh la nak bagi rough idea of what you can see or do in London...

kalau nak window shopping - then you gi je jenjalan all the way Oxford Street sampai ke Picadilly circus - gerenti mlm tu pengsan tidur...

kalau nak tgk tourist spots - tapi ada limited time, boleh naik diorg punya open top double decker bus - this will take you to all the tourist spots and you can get off the bus as you please - some ppl like to take this sebab at least takde hassle nak figure out what/how/when etc....

I wont be wif hubby since he's working.. i yg g holiday. And my fren tuh actually in Burnley.. near Manchester ?? But i cant fly to Manchester coz hubby nak fly ke tpt lain and he's not familiar wif Manchester. So i stick to London. And i lupa plak nak ckp kat u all dat my fren will deliver her 3rd baby dis 3rd Sept, so dont think she can bring me around... letting me stay at her place is gud enuff.. Tu yg if possible, it will be nice to hav someone who can show me around since dis is my very first time

And i nak window shopping je actually..nak sightseeing in London.. mahal tak bus double-decker tu ? Gi tpt2 yg scenery dia cun2.. and also i wanna buy baju sejuk yg murah2. I think there is someone suggested where to buy but i kena cari balik thread mana..

Tapi buat masa ni nak pergi London agak tak berapa selesa sikit . Kat LHR terlalu ketat pemeriksaannya seperti yang terpampang kat berita 2-3 hari ni. Hand luggage pun tak boleh bawa masuk dalam fligt cabin. Yang boleh bawa hanya pasport dan boarding pass sahaja. Aku rasa handphone & camera serta yang sewaktu dengannya pun tak boleh. Air mineral pun rasanya tak boleh. Bagi yang perempuan, handbag kena masuk kargo. Apalah nak jadi ?
