Malaysian world No. 1 must be wary of spoilers at China Masters

PETALING JAYA: World number one Lee Chong Wei will have to be wary of the local spoilers when he leads Malaysia抯 challenge in the China Masters in Changzhou from Sept 23-28.
Lin Dan will be in action for the first time since his triumph in the Olympics and Chong Wei has the opportunity to make amends for a tame defeat by the Chinese ace in the men抯 singles final of the Beijing Games last month.
But before Chong Wei gets to renew his rivalry with the second seeded Lin Dan, the Malaysian will have to negotiate several tricky matches against a host of Chinese juniors.
Chong Wei opens his campaign against Lu Yi and if he gets through, he is likely to play against Zhou Wenlong. In the same quarter are China抯 Lu Qicheng and Denmark抯 third ranked player Joachim Persson. Olympic bronze medallist Chen Jin is in the other quarter of the same half of the draw.
Chong Wei is not expected to stumble in the early stages but he has to be wary of the potential pitfalls, especially when playing on Chinese ground.
Chong Wei hopes to live up to his billing for a title showdown with Lin Dan and he will not take things lightly.
揑 have never met these young Chinese players (Lu Yi, Wenlong and Qicheng) before but I know it will not be easy against them, |
