Itano Tomomi announces her 4th solo single “1%”
It was revealed that Itano Tomomi will be releasing her 4th solo single titled “1%” on June 12. This will mark her first single in a year and two months since her previous single “10-nen go no Kimi e.”
Her new song is said to be a dance number just like her solo debut single “Dear J” (released in January 2011), and it depicts a feeling of love that you go for with only having 1% of success.
The dance scene for the music video was filmed against the night backdrop of the skyscrapers in New York, with male dancers. Itano left a comment, “I was able to film in New York where I always adored. I had meetings for the costume and PV one after another, so I’m sure it became a great one. Please look forward to it!”
During her stay in New York, she also attended the shooting for a new “Samantha Vega” CM which she co-starred with Taylor Momsen. The new CM will begin airing in the end of May.

Suzuki Emi is pregnant with her first child
On April 20, model Suzuki Emi (27) announced through her official blog that she is pregnant with her first child. She’s currently 4-months pregnant and is due sometime in October.
Suzuki wrote, “After getting engaged last year, I let nature take care of things regarding children. When I was thinking about being blessed with a child, I learned in February that I was 2-months pregnant.” She expressed, “While I am surprised that things went smoothly, I am happy from the bottom of my heart.”
Suzuki got married to a non-celebrity man on Valentine’s Day of this year. She plans to continue working while monitoring her physical condition.

Nagabuchi Tsuyoshi to provide the theme song for Nakama Yukie’s new drama
It’s been revealed that singer/songwriter Nagabuchi Tsuyoshi’s new song, “Mirai“, has been chosen as the theme song for Nakama Yukie’s upcoming drama, ‘Shima no Sensei‘ (starts May 25 on NHK Sogou). Nagabuchi last provided “Yubikiri Genman” for ‘Gekai・Natsume Sanshiro‘ about 15 years ago in 1998.
‘Shima no Sensei’ takes place at a small school on an isolated island in Kagoshima, and portrays the lives of a teacher and her students. NHK producer Yashiki Yotaro explained his reason for asking Nagabuchi to provide the theme song, “During the ‘Kohaku Uta Gassen’ the year before last, I was touched when I learned about his strong passion for children’s education and that he was assertively acting towards it. Also, speaking of Nagabuchi-san, he is from Kagoshima where the drama is set. I definitely wanted him to make a warm theme song while recalling his youth.”
Nakama, who will be playing her first teacher role since ‘Gokusen‘, commented, “Right now, we are filming in the nature on an isolated island called Amamioshima. The lyrics and melody which portrays ‘future’ is perfect for this heartwarming drama that uses a calm and magnificent location.”
Nagabusa will release “Mirai” as his new single on May 22.

Hilcrhyme to simultaneously release new single & live DVD in July + new live tour
Hilchryme will simultaneously release a new single and live DVD (both currently untitled) in July.
The new single will mark about 6 months since releasing “Sousouka” in January. More details on this will be announced at a later date.
Meanwhile, the live DVD will feature footage from Hilcrhyme’s ‘LIVE A NOVEL TOUR2013‘ which was held to coincide their 4th album, “LIKE A NOVEL“. It will include the Zepp DiverCity TOKYO performance, a dance commentary footage, and an interview footage. The limited edition DVD will also come with a bonus CD containing a live audio track for “LIKE A NOVEL“.
Additionally, Hilcrhyme will be holding a live tour from October to November. They will perform on October 6th at NHK Hall, on the 14th at Osaka International Convention Center, and on November 3rd at Aichi Geijutsu Gekijou.

StylipS announce the graduation of 2 members + 1st best-of album
StylipS has announced that members Ishihara Kaori and Ogura Yui will be graduating from the group.
The girls decided on their graduation after deeply thinking about various things, such as the coexistence of their schedule and school work, from many different angles. From now on, StylipS will welcome new members and plan to restart their activities with the slogan, “we want to grant our dreams together, the voice acting unit of our generation.”
StylipS is a voice acting unit from Style Cube comprised of Ishihara Kaori, Noto Arisa, Ogura Yui, and Matsunaga Maho. They made their debut in February of 2012 with the single, “STUDY×STUDY“, and will be releasing their first best-of album, “THE LIGHTNING CELEBRATION“, on April 24th. Ishihara and Ogura are also members of an unit called ‘Yui Kaori‘.

Shinzato Kota to sing the new theme song for ‘ONE PIECE’ + “HANDS UP” audio
It’s been revealed that rookie singer Shinzato Kota will be singing the new theme song for Fuji TV’s anime, ‘ONE PIECE‘.
The song is titled “HANDS UP!“, and its described as a tune with a sense of speed that boosts a new adventure. It will be released in Chaku-Uta form on May 29th.

Shiraishi Mai chosen as the new center for Nogizaka46’s upcoming single
On April 20th, idol group Nogizaka46 held a handshake event for their 5th single “Kimi no Na wa Kibou” at Kyoto Pulse Plaza.
During the event, they announced the Senbatsu members for their upcoming 6th single (both title and release date are undecided). It was also announced that Shiraishi Mai has been chosen as the new center for the single, which brought roars and glad shouts from the 7,000 fans attending the event.
This will be the first time for Shiraishi to take the position as Ikoma Rina has served as the center for all the group’s previous singles. Shiraishi commented, “I am feeling the big joy, and the inconceivable responsibility with this opportunity to stand as the center, which is the position Ikoma-chan has carried since the formation of Nogizaka46. While keeping my feet on the ground steadily, I would like to try harder than now in order to show everyone a new side of Nogizaka.”
Ikoma also commented, “The center is the position that brings you a lot of pressure. I want to make a good use of my experience and support her with full effort. I also want to enjoy my new position since I will be able to see a different view.”
The 16 Senbatsu members chosen for the 6th single are as follows.

WEAVER to release new single + live DVD + one-man live
It’s been revealed that WEAVER will be releasing their new single, “Yume Janai Kono Sekai“, and live DVD, “WEAVER ‘Piano Trio Performance’ LIVE at Zepp DiverCity“, on June 26. They will also be holding an one-man live on June 29 at NHK Hall.
This was announced by the members themselves during the final show of their one-man tour on April 21 at Zepp DiverCity TOKYO. The live DVD will feature this concert, and it will be released exclusively on Amuse’s official online shop, ‘ASMART‘.
WEAVER’s concert on June 29 at NHK Hall will be called ‘WEAVER Special Live 2013 ~Kawabe Toru, Shihanseiki Tanjousai~‘, and it will also be held to celebrate member Kawabe Toru’s 25th birthday. Ticket pre-reservations are available on their official website until April 30 at 11:00 pm.

Nogizaka46 2nd generation members to be introduced during ‘16nin no Principal deux’
It’s been revealed that Nogizaka46’s 2nd generation members will be introduced during their 2nd stage performance, ‘16nin no Principal deux‘, which will be held from May 3rd to the 12th at Akasaka ACT Theater in Tokyo.
Nogizaka46’s 2nd generation member audition applications were accepted from December to January, but the results of the auditions haven’t been announced yet. More details will be revealed through the group’s official website at a later date.
‘16nin no Principal deux’ is Nogizaka’s 2nd stage performance following ‘16nin no Principal‘ that was held last year at Shibuya PARCO Gekijou. The script will be written by Kiyasu Kohei, who won the Best Screenplay at the 36th Japan Academy Awards for ‘Kirishima, Bukatsu Yamerutte yo‘, and it will be directed by Kegawazoku Theater Company’s Emoto Junko.
Tickets for the Tokyo performances are currently on sale through Play Guide. This performance will also be held from May 31st to June 2nd at Umeda Geijutsu Gekijou.

Tanami Ryoko gives birth to her 2nd child
On April 20, model Tanami Ryoko (39) reported the birth of her 2nd child through her official blog. According to the announcement, she gave birth to a baby girl weighing at 3,382 g (7 lb 7 oz).
Tanami expressed, “I wanted to see the baby’s face as soon as possible. I’m deeply moved. She’s so cute.” She continued, “Thank you for coming to your mama. I’m a new mom yet again, but I will hold you a lot, and will protect you with the family.”
Tanami got married to Nojiri Yoshihiko (38), the president of wedding-related company Take and Give Needs back in April of 2007. She gave birth to their first son in March of 2011.

Morning Musume goes back to back, 53rd single tops Oricon weekly chart
Idol group Morning Musume’s 53rd single “Brainstorming/Kimi sae Ireba Nani mo Iranai” (released on April 17) sold 94,000 copies in the first week, topping Oricon’s weekly single chart. As their previous single “Help me!!” (released in January) also grabbed the No.1 spot, this is their 2nd consecutive single to top the chart.
It’s been 11 years and 2 months since Morning Musume last had 2 consecutive singles to top the chart with ”Mr.Moonlight~Ai no Big Band~” (released in October 2001) and “Souda! We’re ALIVE” (released in February 2002) when Iida Kaori was leading the group. Therefore, this will be the first time to accomplish it for the current members, including leader Michishige Sayumi.
This also marked their 53rd single to rank in the TOP10, and with this single, they renewed their own record for “the most number of singles ranked in TOP10.”
“Brainstorming/Kimi sae Ireba Nani mo Iranai” is the last single for Tanaka Reina who will be graduating after the group’s live concert at Nippon Budokan on May 21. She left the comment, “I am really happy to be able to grab the No.1 with the single I’m graduating with! This would not have been possible without everyone’s support. I want to tell them ‘Thank you’ from bottom of my heart.”

An Cafe to release new singles for 3 consecutive months
It’s been revealed that An Cafe will be releasing new singles for 3 consecutive months starting in June.
This project will commemorate the band’s 10th anniversary since they first formed. It will be called ‘Harajuku Sanbusaku Returns‘ as a sequel to 2005’s ‘Harajuku Sanbusaku‘.
The first single, “Bee Myself Bee Yourself ~Jibunrashiku Kimirashiku Umareta Story wa Hajimattenda~ / Tekesuta Kousen ~Unchanging ver~” is scheduled to be released on June 12th. More details will follow later.
Prior to the single’s release, the band will be holding a talk & handshake event at 4 locations nationwide.

Naoto Inti Raymi to release new album, “Nice catch the moment!”
Naoto Inti Raymi will be releasing his new album, “Nice catch the moment!“, on May 15th.
This will mark Naoto’s first album since releasing “Kaze Uta Caravan” in April of last year. It will feature a total of 13 tracks, including his singles, “Naitetatte“, “Shiawase ni Naru Tame ni“, and “Koi Suru Kisetsu“.
The album will be released in both limited and regular editions. The limited edition DVD will contain video clips for the 3 singles along with footage from his Yokohama Arena concert held back in December. Additionally, famima.com will be selling a famima.com limited set, which will enclose an original towel.

w-inds. KEITA to release his first solo album in June
It’s been revealed that w-inds. member KEITA will be releasing his first solo album, “SIDE BY SIDE“, on June 5th.
The track list consists of 13 songs, including his solo debut single, “Slide ‘n’ Step“, “Nice and Slow“, which was written by KEITA, and his collaboration song with AKLO called “Magic feat. AKLO“.
The lead track, “Magic feat. AKLO”, will be used as the ending theme for ‘One Tree Hill Second Season‘, which starts on NTV starting May 7th. It will air on the radio for the first time on April 26th through TOKYO FM’s ‘Yamada Hisashi no Radio Unlimited F‘.
To coincide with the album’s release, KEITA will be holding listening events in May at 4 locations nationwide. He will also hold mini-lives in Tokyo and Osaka in early-June as well as a nationwide tour starting late-June.

Check out the details on Alice Nine’s upcoming single
Alice Nine will be releasing a new single entitled “shooting star” on May 29th. This is the third single from the band’s 3 consecutive months single releases.
The title track is said to be a love ballad song about long-distance relationships, and it depicts a couple who are far apart from each other making a wish upon a shooting star and thinking of the loved one eternally. The follow-up track “Affection” is being used as the ending theme song for “J-MELO”, NHK World’s music program, from April to June.

Yoshizawa Ryo & Morinaga Yuki added as the cast members for upcoming “Kano-Uso” movie
It was announced that Yoshizawa Ryo and Morinaga Yuki will appear in Sato Takeru’s starring movie “Kanojo wa Uso wo Aishisugiteru“, the live-action film adaptation of Aoki Kotomi’s popular manga of the same name.
Both of their roles will be the members of the heroine Koeda Riko’s (played by Ohara Sakurako) band “MUSH&Co.“.
Yoshizawa will play as the band’s guitarist ”Kimijima Yuichi” who gives his heart to Riko, while Morinaga will play “Yamazaki Sota”, the drummer, who is Riko’s childhood friend, and watches over Riko.
Yoshizawa said, “I’ve only learned how to play acoustic guitar in class during high school, so I am currently practicing very hard for the performance scenes. As the oldest member, I want to lead MUSH&Co., and make it as the band with a sense of unity.” Morinaga also commented, “When I read the original manga and script, I thought the role was very close to what I was. The three members of MUSH&Co. are quite lively, and I wish I could be the relaxing character among the band.”
“Kanojo wa Uso wo Aishisugiteru” is set for release in December.

“Majo no Takkyubin” to get live-action movie adaptation starring Koshiba Fuka
“Majo no Takkyubin (aka “Kiki’s Delivery Service”)” which is a masterpiece of children’s fantasy novel written by Kadono Eiko, will be getting a live-action movie adaptation.
It is a growth story of a young witch Kiki and her partner, black cat named Jiji. The original novel which has 6 volumes in total was released during 1985 to 2009, and it was translated into English, Italian, Chinese, Swedish, and Korean. As it’s widely well-known, Studio Ghibli made its animation film adaptation back in 1989.
Though the animation film was based on the first volume from the series, this live-action movie will feature the first and second volumes.
It has been announced that the movie will be directed by Shimizu Takashi who is known for horror movies like “Ju-on“, and the protagonist Kiki will be played by 16-year-old rookie actress Koshiba Fuka. Koshiba was chosen by audition among 500 candidates, and this will mark her first appearance in a film, and also, first leading role.
Koshiba recently updated her official blog with 3 pages of a letter, making the announcement and also expressing her thoughts.
On the blog, she wrote, “When I was told that I passed the audition, my mind went blank. I cried so much due to joy.” However, she also expressed that she’s feeling a bit anxious about playing the role of Kiki. “The ‘Kiki’ I’m playing will be different from ‘Kiki’ you all imagine. Even though I’m not good at expressing or making an appeal for myself, I will try my best playing Koshiba Fuka’s own Kiki, without disappointing the expectations of those who chose me, while cherishing many people’s love toward ‘Majo no Takkyubin’.”
Reportedly, Koshiba who learned about expressiveness from figure skating, has been doing practice swings with a wooden sword for the beautiful flying scenes, which many people will be curious about.
The filming is said to begin at the end of May on an island in the Seto Inland Sea, and is scheduled for release next spring.

Kimura Kaela to establish her private label under Victor Entertainment
On April 23rd, it was revealed that singer Kimura Kaela (28) will be establishing her private label under Victor Entertainment.
Kimura, who will be serving as the youngest label representative under Victor Entertainment, will announce the label name on her 9th anniversary day, June 23rd, to begin her 10th year anniversary.
The singer made her major debut back in 2004. She’s released 7 original albums, as well as famous songs such as “Butterfly“, “Rirura Riruha“, and “Ring a Ding Dong“. In 2006, she served as the vocalist for the reunion of 1970’s legendary band Sadistic Mika Band. She has been going between the pop and rock genres to build her individual position and worldview.
Kimura explained, “I must not forget the feeling of wanting to take on a challenge. No matter how old I get, I mustn’t be afraid of change, but instead move forward. That is my motto. I want to stay 100% Kimura Kaela by facing music, expressions, and myself more than before, and continue to transmit them.”
She continued, “On June 23rd, the day of my 9th anniversary, I will announce the label name along with something else, so please look forward to it.”

Sakurai Sho to host 12-hour live broadcast special music program
NTV will air a special music program “THE MUSIC DAY Ongaku no Chikara” on July 6th to commemorate their 60th anniversary since its launching, and Arashi member Sakurai Sho will serve as the main host.
Just like NTV’s annual telethon “24-Hour Television”, ”THE MUSIC DAY Ongaku no Chikara” is also planned to be their annual special music program. The broadcast network plans to hold a survey that is related to the theme of the year, masterpieces chosen from the survey will be introduced.
This year’s theme will be “The masterpieces that encouraged Japanese people”, and it will be broadcast live for 12 hours, which will be the longest music program to ever air. The main venue is the Makuhari Messe, and many great artists will gather there to perform. Archive footage from the past 60 years will also be broadcast.
Sakurai commented, “It was surprising enough that I would be the main host for the special music program for this summer, but knowing that it would be 12 hours long, I am still in doubt. Without getting crushed by the dignity of its title, the 60th anniversary since launching, I will try my hardest to serve this important task!!”
NTV is currently asking for requests for the “masterpieces that encouraged Japanese people” on their official site.
Additionally, there will be a music event “THE MUSIC DAY LIVE presented by ‘ZERO’” (charged), to be held on July 7th, at the same venue.

Details on Vanilla Beans’ 8th single revealed
Idol unit Vanilla Beans will be releasing their 8th single, “Muscat Slope Love“, on May 8th.
As previously reported, the upcoming single is produced by Kaji Hideki. The jacket covers were taken by world-known photographer Leslie Kee. Rena and Risa, who are fans of Leslie Kee, expressed their joy about working with him on their official blog.
The single will be released in 3 different types: Limited Edition A, Limited Edition B, and Regular Edition, and each limited edition DVD will come with different content.
Additionally, Vanilla Beans will be holding a live with Kaji Hideki on May 1st at Shinjuku LOFT.
