gokey is my second fav tapi bersaing ketat ngan kris ar. Walaupun agak ralat bila gokey tak dapat masuk final, tapi kris masuk pun ok la. cuma rasanya ikut vocal gokey vs adam mmg boom la

Adam Lambert steals the show in final Idol competition

Adam Lambert on the finale of American IdolNothing else matters about Tuesday night's competition final except what Adam Lambert did with Sam Cooke's A Change Is Gonna Come. If anyone in the audience of 30 million still didn't know which of the two finalist was an artist, they did after this soul-stirring, electrifying interpretation by the 27-year-old singer from San Diego.

Kris Allen did do better in the first round with Ain't No Sunshine than Lambert did with Mad World. But in the second round when Lambert soared up into the high-note/bent-note land of Patti LaBelle where gospel meets blues and rhythm & blues, the competition was over. Allen, with that pretty-boy smile and thin voice, was left for dead on the killing room floor.

The last number, No Boundaries, did neither of them any favors. Simon Cowell rightfully mocked its vapid imagery as "all hurricanes and mountains." It gave new meaning to shallow, and it was no surprise to find out it was co-written by judge Kara DioGuardi. (She co-wrote it with Cathy Dennis and Mitch Allan.) My guess, the Idol producers used it because they got it for next to nothing in rights fees from the woman who hopes she will be brought back next year as a judge.

But let me not kvetch. Every second I spent with Idol Tuesday night was worth it to see Lambert tear into and tear up A Change Is Gonna Come. On Sunday, I wrote about him as the musical descendant of Elvis Presley, and he certainly had the gospel and R&B parts down cold in his rendition.

Lambert did his part straight through to the end Tuesday. Now the rest is up to us. The vote is going to be a barometer as to whether the mainstream, mass TV audience is willing to accept an artist -- or simply prefers a song stylist who is good at looking humble and shy.
