Johnny Countdown 2008-2009
Arashi are the MC this year at Tokyo Dome. But this year’s Johnnys Countdown was a collaboration from 3 venues - Tokyo Dome, Osaka Dome and Imperial Theatre! They introduced Takki (with ABC-Z, Kis-my-ft2 & Nikki-sempai) first from Imperial  . Kinki Kids were at Osaka Dome, V6 were eating, and TOKIO was somewhere else. Then, the JE groups at Tokyo Dome did a medley, after which is the count down to 2009! It was followed by Kinki Kids’ song. They wished Koichi-kun a happy birthday! They all seem to be having loads of fun at Teikoku (Imperial Theatre) too!
Tsubasa then appeared at Tokyo Dome and sang “Mezamero Yasei”, followed by “Made in Japan”. And V6 appeared! TOKIO too, after Subaru and Jin sang the start of “Sorafune”. Wow, the entire Johnnys groups showed up in the end!
Then it was Takki performing Ai Kakumei live from Teikoku, which I already posted just now! It was such a huge contrast to what’s at the Dome, that this performance really stood out! I love the water streams. And everything was so spectacular!! When he started flying, I KYAAAED OUT!! I love the very last part where he glides through the water~ kireii! Nyanco’s right! He doesn’t need to take a bath ne~ he can shower on stage!!
Takki & Nikki-sempai sang a duet~ Kamen something~ and they also were interviewed about what they hope for the new year. Nikki-sempai said it’s all about Takki or something hehe~ . And the final part of my digest clip is the final song they sang before the broadcast ended. There were small parts of Takki singing, dancing, doing funny actions along to the music! Kawaii~~.

EXILE album reaches 2 million
Sun, January 4, 2009 (8:00pm EST)
EXILE's latest collection, "EXILE BALLAD BEST," is on its way to becoming a double million seller. Released on December 3, the album sold nearly a million copies just in its first week. As of Saturday, the album reached 2 million copies shipped, which is a first for EXILE.
The last album to reach the two-million mark was Kobukuro's "ALL SINGLES BEST," which was released in September 2006 and eventually went on to ship 3 million copies.

Charts: Ikimono Gakari's first #1

EXILE may have sold another 190,000 copies of their "EXILE BALLAD BEST" collection over these past two weeks, but the big winner on the charts was rock trio Ikimono Gakari, who picked up their first #1 with their album "My song Your song." Appearing at Kohaku Uta Gassen may have contributed to their 243,000 in sales, but they were already gaining steam throughout 2008.
GIRL NEXT DOOR also made the charts at #3 with their self-titled release, selling more than 171,000 copies.
Meanwhile, Kumi Koda claimed victory on the singles chart, moving 58,000 copies of "stay with me." The only other new releases in the top ten were two "Macross Frontier" songs at #7 and #8, and the latest from Kalafina at #9.
The so-called "Kohaku effect" was not very strong this year, but it did boost Junko Mihara's "Ai no Mama de" to #3, making her the oldest artist (at 61) to reach the top three, as well as the first female enka artist to do so since 1988. Ayaka Hirahara's "Nocturne" also experienced a rise to #6.
On the overall DVD rankings, KAT-TUN's latest tour DVD took #1 with 171,000 in sales. This is their 6th consecutive release to top the music DVD charts.

Oricon: best looking in kimono
Oricon has announced the results of its yearly survey asking which celebrities look best in kimonos. 1,200 men and women participated in the survey this time around.
The top actor was Hiroshi Tamaki, who also ranked 1st last year. Aoi Miyazaki was the #1 actress, propelled by the success of the TV drama "Atsuhime." In the music artist category, Ringo Shiina led the list.

Charts: Tackey's first solo single
Hideaki Takizawa, also known as Tackey of Tackey & Tsubasa, released his first solo single last week, titled "Ai Kakumei." The song led the charts at 57,000 copies, making him the first member of a group to reach #1 with a debut solo single since Koichi Domoto did it in 2006.
At #2 was Junko Mihara, still riding a wave of renewed interest after Kohaku Uta Gassen. Her "Ai no Mama de," originally released last January, continued its ascent for the second week in a row. Mihara also saw her album "Second Story" jump from #54 to #23 this past week. Released in August, it debuted at #90 and quickly fell off the charts, but it resurfaced at #67 about a month ago.
New singles from Remioromen, The Possible, and Base Ball Bear entered the rankings at #3 to #5.
On the album charts, EXILE and Mr.Children regained their top spots, taking #1 and #2 to bump Ikimono Gakari down to #3. In terms of new releases, indie band SOUTAISEIRIRON made #7 with their first full album, while Base Ball Bear picked up #10.

Yasuda, Shirota deny romance
It was recently reported that talento Misako Yasuda (26) and actor Yu Shirota (23) are in a romantic relationship. However, both of their agencies denied the rumor on Tuesday, saying that they have only heard that the two are friends.
In 2007, Shirota starred in the manga-to-film adaptation "Arakure Knight," and Yasuda played the part of his girlfriend.
Yasuda was previously linked to actor Shuji Kashiwabara, but they broke up shortly after the release of "Arakure Knight."

Remioromen announces best album
Popular band Remioromen will be releasing a best album on March 9. Even though the date is a Monday, an unusual day for music releases, it was chosen because of their hit song, "Sangatsu Kokonoka" (which means March 9).
Naturally, "Sangatsu Kokonoka" is included in the collection, along with the single "Konayuki." A total of 15 songs are said to have been selected for the album. The bonus DVD in the special edition features video from their "STAND BY ME" concert in 2006.
The album's title and tracklist are expected to be announced soon on the band's website.

Matsuda Ryuhei, Ohta Rina Married
Management for actor Matsuda Ryuhei (25) announced yesterday that he and model Ohta Rina (21) got married on January 11, Ohta's birthday. They are expecting a baby in the summer, an experience Matsuda will already have portrayed in the upcoming movie "Tsurugidake," due to open in June.
The couple first met through a mutual friend in the autumn of 2007 and soon started dating. The son of actress Matsuda Miyuki and the legendary Matsuda Yusaku (1949-89), Ryuhei won multiple awards at the age of 16 for his first movie starring role in Ohshima Nagisa's "Gohatto." His younger brother Shota (23) is also an up-and-coming actor.
Ryuhei will no doubt be expected to talk about his big news on January 17, when he is scheduled to appear at a talk show event to promote his current movie "Akumu Tantei 2" (Dream Detective 2). Ohta debuted as a fashion magazine model in 2001. Half Russian on her mother's side, she has appeared on NHK's Russian language learning show as well as several movies.

22 Idols Graduate From Hello! Project
22 members of the Hello! Project troupe held an emotional "graduation ceremony" concert at Yokohama Arena yesterday. Among those leaving the nest are Matsuura Aya (22), Nakazawa Yuko (35) and Abe Natsumi (27). Amongst the huge troupe that has produced 78 idol singers, the first and most famous group is Morning Musume (profile), who held their debut concert at the same arena in 1998.
Nakazawa and Abe were among that original lineup, which has changed countless times over the last 11 years. They have since gone on to other groups, such as Melon Kinenbi and Country Musume, or pursued solo singing or acting careers but have remained part of the Hello! Project. With the departure of the 22, the troupe's average age drops from 18 to 15.
