entah la aku pun tak tahu ok ke tak gi bath ni ....
tapi rasanye pernah baca dulu dorang cuma dapat guna court 5 jam je sehari ..cukup ke tu ??
hopefully free time tu digunakan ngan bende2 yg berfaedah ...

kat paper NST ada article yg kutuk chongwei 'primadonna' sbb tak gi bath ... walaupun dia tak mention nama, tapi chongwei sorang je yg tak pegi kan ....
chongwei tak pegi pun sbb misbun tak gi ....
agaknye nanti paper ni gak la yg akan kutuk kaw2 kata mengabihkan duit training kat bath tu bila kalah nanti ... just wait n see ...

Peng Soon wants good results from world meet as wedding gift
By RAJES PAUL

KUALA LUMPUR: Youngster Chan Peng Soon has chosen the perfect place – Paris, the city of romance – to present his future wife with a special gift of love.

The 22-year-old Peng Soon will tie the knot with singer May May on Sept 9 – 10 days after the World Championships in Paris. The world meet is from Aug 23-29.

And he has vowed to accomplish two rather impossible missions in his badminton career as ‘gifts’ for his bride-to-be.

He hopes to reach the mixed doubles quarter-finals for the first time with partner Goh Liu Ying and break into the top 10 in the world rankings.

Peng Soon-Liu Ying are the sole Malaysian representatives in the mixed doubles event and they will be featuring in the world meet for the second time.

In their first world meet in Hyderabad last year, the duo went down to China’s Zheng Bo-Ma Jin in the opening round.

Peng Soon is one of the most successful back-up shuttlers in the national team.

He became the first Malaysian to win the mixed doubles title with Liu Ying at the Asian Badminton Championships in India in April.

Last year, he won his first men’s Open doubles title with Lim Khim Wah at the Thailand Open.

The soft-spoken shuttler hopes to make an impression in his second world meet.

“I will be getting married after the world meet.

“It will be nice if I can achieve good results. It will be a nice gift for my wife. For now, this will be an extra motivation,” said Peng Soon.

His bride-to-be is a singer with the group “Da Monster”, an up-and-coming band which is quite well known among the Chinese community here.

Peng Soon believes that there is a good chance for him and Liu Ying to reach at least the quarter-finals if they take their chances well.

“This is our second world meet together and we are more matured and experienced. No one has given us a ghost of a chance to go far as we are considered green horns among the more established mixed doubles pairs,” he said.

“But we will try to change that perception. At the same time, we do not want to put too much pressure on ourselves. We tend to be a letdown when there is too much expectation on us.”

The duo will face Belgians Jonathan Gills-Severine Carvilain in the opening round. If they win, they will take on either ninth seed D. Viju-Jwala Gutta of India or England’s Chris Adcock-Gabrille White.

If they make it to the third round, they will most likely face third seeds Robert Mateusiak-Nadieza Kostiuczyk of Poland – and this is where the biggest test awaits them.

“We have not met all these pairs. They are quite experienced but we have nothing to lose,” said Peng Soon before leaving for Bath University yesterday.

“We tend to bring out the best in each of us because we enjoy the game. We hope to go into every match with the same approach.”

The World Championships-bound squad, except for men’s singles world number one Lee Chong Wei, are in Bath for a short training stint before heading to Paris on Aug 21.

For the record, Malaysia had withdrawn the participation of Koo Kien Keat-Wong Pei Tty following the Badminton Association of Malaysia’s (BAM) decision to send the latter for a knee surgery.

Kien Keat-Pei Tty won Malaysia’s first medal in the mixed doubles when they bagged a bronze by reaching the semi-finals at the world meet in Madrid in 2005.

Kien Keat to watch his weight ahead of tournament
PETALING JAYA: National doubles shuttler Koo Kien Keat (pic) is a food lover but he has vowed to watch what he eats ahead of the World Championships.

Top seeds Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong are Malaysia’s great hopes at the world meet, which will be held in Paris from Aug 23-29.
Kien Keat and Boon Heong are currently at Bath University in England with the other World Championships qualifiers, except for men’s singles shuttler Lee Chong Wei.

Kien Keat said that had always tried to enjoy the best of both worlds – giving best in badminton and taking the opportunity to try out local delicacies.

“I have a penchant for food. I travel extensively and I try all kinds of food. I love Asian food the best. I remember a noodle dish I had in Macau ... that probably was the best,” said Kien Keat

“I also like England and French cuisines.

“Some of their steaks are a delight. In fact, I enjoy watching Jamie Oliver’s cook shows during my free time. But I do not over-indulge.”

Kien Keat is so concerned about his food intake that he is cooking his own meals in Bath.

“Since I only take light meals now, I decided to cook myself. I am not taking any chances in the preparations for the world championships.

“As a badminton player, I know the importance of watching my weight.”

Kien Keat-Boon Heong have looked fitter in recent tournaments.

In fact, at the recent Taiwan Open, they showed improved physical strength en route to losing to South Koreans Lee Yong-dae-Jung Jae-sung in the semi-final.

“Boon Heong and I have shed a few kilos. We are giving emphasis to our physical training programme. We hope this will give us an extra edge at the world meet,” said Kien Keat. The Malaysians are in the same quarter as China’s Chai Biao-Zhang Nan and South Korea’s Yong-dae-Jae-sung.

Both their probable opponents play fast and attacking games and the Malaysians will have to be physically ready to cope with them.
