Here are the first pics of the New 051c destroyer of which two are being built for the PLAN. The main weapon on the 051c is the long range HQ-9 SAM whcih has been derived from the Russian S-300 System.
The IDF Fighter (Indigenous Defence fighter) Of Taiwan
The Ching-Kuo(???, named after lat president Chiang Ching-Kuo), known as IDF(Indigenous Defence fighter), is a military aircraft produced by the Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation(AIDC) for the Republic of China Air Force. Taiwan produced the IDF with extensive assistance by American corporation, including Geneal Dynamics and Westinghouse Electric. And the IDF are not totally made by Taiwanese, because the US government is unwilling to let us to have a self-produced aircraft engine. (the ture reason is not sure, but according to some informations come from ROCAF, the US government think that if Taiwan have a great military industry may anger China so that may cause war between China and Taiwan.) Many aspect of the IDF were based on the F-16 Fighting falcon.
The IDF was designed with the J-8 im mind as a possible foe, and was intend to have performance ,which can compare with F-16B and Mirage 2000. But due to plitical reason, AIDC only can use weaker engines which is provided by America. So the final version of IDF is relatively underpowered, despite its light weight.
Although the IDF could be able to compare with F-16B and Mirage2000 in many aspects. The fatal weakness of the IDF is inadequate engine propulsion. So ROCAF is now working on IDF-II. If the poduction of IDF- II won't be interfere with our corrupt goverment and other political reasons, the first IDF-II will test in 2007. That's one of the reasons why I asked Mikoyan-Gurevch not to compare IDF with J-10, I hope he can wait for one (or more=_=) year and compare IDF II with J-10 or even J-11. If the US government can provide us sufficient technics, I believe IDF-II may performance, which can compare with China's advanced fighters.

Workers at Aerospace Industrial Development Corp assemble Ching-kuo Indigenous Defense Fighters in Taichung, the last of which rolled off production lines in late 1999. A joint venture with Airbus had to be abandoned because the company doesn't have the capital required to take a 1 percent share in the project.

bagus juga idea kau, takut company tu ada masalah kewangan dan beban hutang yang banyak jadi company malaysia terpaksa tanggung.
Pihak Amerika hari ini mengakui teknologi tentera China sudah matang. Kata seperti China masih 20 tahun di belakang sudah tidak bermakna hari ini. Apa yg mereka ketinggalan ialah latihan "combined arms", yg mereka sedang perbetulkan dengan latihan "Blue" vs "Red".
tengok konsep elevator hangar dia boleh kut..tapi berapa biji boleh simpan..anyway kalau dah besar macam ni with that noise making activities..ssn amerika senyum aja nak bunuh ;)
