Najib, 1MDB memalukan negara, kata Mahathir

1:56PM - 7 Jul 2015
http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/304320

Beliau mengulas kritikan Anifah padanya kerana memberikan wawancara kepada akhbar Amerika The New York Times.

“Mungkin Anifah tidak pernah baca suratkhabar Amerika sebelum usaha untuk memburukkan nama saya dijadikan asas mempertahankan perdana menteri Najib.

“Tetapi seluruh dunia tahu berkenaan Datuk Seri Najib, Jho Low dan 1MDB,” katanya.

'Anak tiri berlagak kaya'

1:21PM - 7 Jul 2015
http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/304309

PETALING JAYA: Six bank accounts connected to allegations of channelling of funds to the Prime Minister have been frozen.
In a joint statement, the special task force which was formed to probe the allegations, stated that the order to freeze the accounts was issued on July 6.
“The special task force has also obtained documents on 17 accounts in two banks to assist with investigations.
“Several documents pertaining to non-compliance of Bank Negara Malaysia’s rules and procedures were also seized,” the statement said.

As investigations are still under way, the task force has urged all parties to give their cooperation to allow for the probe to be completed.
The statement was issued jointly by Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail (pic), Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed.
Last Friday, the Wall Street Journal reported that funds amounting to US$700mil (RM2.6bil) had been channelled to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s personal accounts.

The Prime Minister’s Office responded by saying that the article was “political sabotage” while 1MDB insisted that no funds had been transferred to Najib’s accounts.
Najib also refuted the claims, maintaining that the allegations were a political ploy engineered by his opponents, among them former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, in an attempt to topple him

No 'room' for MPs to discuss WSJ in Parliament

12:00PM Jul 7, 2015
http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/304292

Police have stepped up security at Parliament ahead of a scheduled bipartisan meeting of lawmakers on the 1MDB controversy.

According to Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli, as a result police have denied the lawmakers a room for the meeting.

"We should be at least entitled to use a hall," he said when contacted.

However, the hall requested by the MPs had been booked by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Thus, the MPs decided to hold the meeting at a shaded area outside the building at Parliament Square instead.

The meeting was organised by opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

In a Tweet, Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang described the security overkill as an attempt to strike fear in MPs.

"Big security crisis in Parliament! Why? Because MPs want to have meeting on WSJ (The Wall Street Journal) allegation against Najib with NGO reps," wrote Lim.

It is unsure why the police presence is even heavier now  than when the Dewan Rakyat was in session.

However, there have been news reports that several NGOs in Penang had lodged police reports aimed at preventing former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad from showing up at Parliament today.

But according to Mahathir's aide, he was never scheduled to attend any function at the Parliament today.
