Its a recoiless rifle. You need to hold still, not necessary to be very stable.

Man portable anti tank missiles:

1) Javelin (USA)

pros: fire and forget, top attack.
cons: problems to fire at buildings, quite expensive.

2) Spike (Israel)

pros: fire and forget, fire and update, top attack
cons: quite expensive

3) Metis-M (Russia)

pros: quite cheap
cons: range oly 1.5 km, not fire and forget, warhead probably not enough vs fron armour of modern tanks

4) Milan-3 (Europe)

pros: quite cheap
cons: not fire and forget, warhead probably not enough vs modern tanks

Vehicle mounted:

1) Kornet (Russia)

pros: powerful warhead, good range, good speed

cons: not fire and forget, range only 3750 m

3) SPIKE-ER (Israel)

Thanx for the info. But I bet all weapon systems have their pros and cons. Probably we'll choose the one suited to our local enviroment

in the case of ATGM, they can suit all conditions. its a matter of costs really because top attack makes a lot of diff except for kornet which is powerful enough for all types of armour.

Maybe Malaysia should get our Matador system, very cheap, A$2 only. (Missile not included) hahaha.

On the serious side, I think Milan 3 is the best other than the TOW. It's lighter and has the best armour penetration characteristics.

ooo... the tender that was closed last month, according to Jane's, for 18 Launchers and about 200 Missiles.

But if TOW2 BGM was listed why not HOT 3 which is of the same category? Was the exclusion intentional? aiseyman... HOT 3 my personal favourite lah...

I believed, for a vehicle/heli mounted long range ATGW, HOT 3 is an alternative worth mentioning. And since we are procuring in small numbers... price is not an issue.

If I recall correctly, the Javelin, Spike and Milan were not among the missiles on offer when the tender closed.

Menurut Jane, Hizb pun guna Metis dan Kornet menidakkan kekuasaan Merkava. Baca kat sini http://www.janes.com/defence/news/jdw/jdw060821_2_n.shtml

Yup, Isreal siap hantar delegasi ke Moscow utk buat komplen (http://www.worldtribune.com/worl ... 28.0791666666.html) tapi yg peliknya yg dia guna bom berangkai dari U.S tak kecoh plak, siap uncle sam buat emergency delivery lagi

Anyway aku rase Hizb guna bukan sebijik kornet nak musnahkan merkava, Syria dulu order dari Russia dlm thn 1998 pun lebih kurang 1,000 mentis M & kornet dgn harge $ 138 juta banding ngan kita tu pun Ivanov bagi komen;

Mr Ivanov said that it was "laughable" to call the anti-tank weapons he understood to have been used by Hezbollah modern.
