Apple deals massive patent blow to HTC, Android in serious trouble

Late yesterday an ITC judge ruled that smartphone maker HTC has infringed two Apple patents, and it seems likely that every single Android device out there infringes the same patents.
The two Apple patents that HTC is infringing are as follows:
    U.S. Patent No. 5,946,647 on a “system and method for performing an action on a structure in computer-generated data.”    U.S. Patent No. 6,343,263 on a “real-time signal processing system for serially transmitted data.”
This is a very significant development since these two patents are also in dispute between Apple and Motorola and Apple and Nokia. This decision is also landmark in that it is the first legal judgement that finds Android in infringement of third-party intellectual property rights.
Just how serious is this ruling for HTC? Very serious. The worst-case scenario is that the ITC imposes an US import ban against all of HTC’s Android products. That’s how serious this is for HTC.
According to intellectual property activist Florian Mueller, Apple is unlikely to grant HTC a license for these patents and might make a damages claim.
But it gets worse. This also has severe implications for all Android products on the market, irrespective of the maker, as Mueller also pointed out:Tt’s hard to see how any Android device could not infringe them, or how companies could work around them.
Mueller has put together a chart showing how all Android devices infringe the same patents that HTC has been found infringe.
HTC claims that is has found ‘alternate solutions‘ to these patents, but Mueller isn’t optimistic:
But can those patents really be worked around? Standing in front of the Great Wall of China, you can also vow to walk around it. That doesn’t mean it’s a viable option.
And it seems that it is going to get worse as Android is at the center of 49 federal and ITC infringement suits.
This is serious stuff.

So basically all the Android based phone in the market are infringing on Apple's pattern (HTC , Motorola , Nokia). Kalau ikut regulation kat US memang takde peluang la nak jual HTC android based phone kat sana. Interesting to see if Apple Malaysia also will follow suit to demand similar thing here in Malaysia.. which mean android phone price will be cheaper in coming months.. kena dump somewhere la kan...

aku mmg fanatik sangat kat Nokia.aku penah pakai samsung,SE,LG selain dia.chheewaahh...semua xtahan lama.aku beli nokia balik pastu.
nak jadi cerita aku test beli HTC mozart (platform Windows 7).memula mmg pening nak guna.rasa nak jual esok harinya!! ntah camna baru aku sedar yg HTC punya grafik n effect mmg setanding ngan Nokia.pastu app. yang boleh download dr site mmg canggih2 belaka..terus jatuh cinta..hahahahah....

Hmmmmmmmmm....aku cuba gak nak minat ngan HTC ni....dan pernahpakai sekejap HTC one X....tp mcm Aura HTC ni tak kene dengan aku....teruih aku jual balik lepas seminggu...

aku lebih tertarik dgn design htc one. nampak kemas berbanding samsung galaxy s3... tapi kalau diberi pilihan untuk membeli, aku tetap pilih samsung.

Saya dah masuk 3 tahun guna HTC HD2, sempat gak merasa pun jelly bean, enset korang ada ?

dari segi support HTC software lagi banyak, bootloader pun unlock dalam erti kata boleh install android custom rom

Wah pm pun minat HTC?

HTC sebenarnya lebih pengalaman dari Samsung,  dulu HTC yg keluarkan utk HP ipaq, dopod, XDA dan O2 , tetapi marketing Samsung menenggelamkan HTC.

Smartphone pertama aku HTC Tytyn II pakai windows 5 kot, taun 2008 or 2009.
Tu pun sebab aku terpengaruh ngan kawan aku yg pakai gak. (sebelum tu dia pakai O2).
Memang penah ada problem la lepas setahun pakai, mother board ke ape ntah.
Tapi waranty HTC 2 tahun, hantar dekat service centre kat Glenmarie, within 3 Working Days dah setel.

Sekarang ni aku pakai HTC Incredible S, dah setahun lebih.
Baru2 ni ada dia punya usb port rosak, hantar kat service centre (dah pindah kat Kelana Jaya), within 3 Working days gak setel.
Mula2 beli dia pakai Gingerbread, lepas tu auto ugrade to Honeycomb, sekarang dah ICS.

Bagi aku, walaupun nama HTC ni x glemer mana. Tapi bagi org2 yang tech savvy (macam kwn aku), HTC mmg dorang acknowledge sejak zaman Dopod-O2 lagi. Ada HTC Sense, After Service tip-top, upgrade OS pun senang, main download je. Aku ada Samsung Tab 7 Plus, masih pakai Honeycomb. Aku tanya kat kedai samsung pun, tab 7.7 tak upgrade ke ICS lagi.

Tapi macam forumer2 lain kata, tahap keglemeran HTC ni memang x boleh nak celen Iphone, Samsung, BB, Norkia.  Makcik2 kat kampung pun tanya jenis handphone aku pun susah aku nak explain , Nak carik accessories pun payah..

Produk baru cam HTC One tu aku rasa x kalah kalau nak banding ngan yg lain. Mungkin pihak HTC perlu tingkatkan produktiviti & kurangkan kontrovesi untuk lebih glamer...

Menuntut ilmu Smart Phone dari porumer2 sini, nak kongsi ilmu aku meme zero...
Tapi bile benang ni dah up balik, aku citerla serba sedikit pengalaman manis aku ngan HTC ni..

Baidewai, Nak citer pasal ketahanan, walaupun skrg dah x guna sebab dah obsolete.
HTC Tytyn II aku tu masih boleh berfungsi dengan baik, walaupun dah sompek sana-sini..
Bateri dia (original) pun ok lagi x penah tukar.
