Adam Lambert ‘Glam Nation Live’ debuts at #1By: Pat Ryder

HollywoodNews.com: GRAMMY®-nominee Adam Lambert released ‘Glam Nation Live’ last week and it is already topping the charts. HollywoodNews.com has a review of this concert DVD/CD set below – but if the pop star has only had one studio album, why this new release?
Well, as anyone familiar with Lambert’s vocal prowess can tell you: you have got to see him live.
As proof, today ‘Glam Nation Live’ debuted at #1 on SoundScan’s “Top Music Videos” chart, selling 17,000 units in its first week. RCA tweeted:

According to an RCA press release, ‘Glam Nation Live’ has had the best debut of any release on the Music Videos chart thus far in 2011.
But do the DVD and accompanying live CD really showcase Lambert as an artist?
‘Glam Nation Live’ serves up a snapshot in time as the US leg of Lambert’s tour was drawing to a close. The popular entertainer returned to his birthstate of Indiana in late August 2010 to perform to a full house at Clowes Memorial Hall in Indianapolis.
Having personally shot and reviewed two of Lambert’s Glam Nation shows last year, I can attest that the Clowes Hall date featured on the DVD is exactly what the typical concert experience was like – which makes ‘Glam Nation Live’ a perfect souvenir for those lucky enough to have attended one of Lambert’s gigs.
Whether or not one is a fan of Adam Lambert’s brand of vocal acrobatics, it is an undeniable fact that the man knows how to put on a show. And for Glam Nation, Lambert proved that even with a modest budget (the lasers likely being the biggest expense), he could pull together a mini-rock opera of his own creation.
With a talented backing band and four dancers to support him, there is still no doubt the star of the show is Lambert. The stage can barely contain him; his presence is so big.
Lambert’s voice is best enjoyed when free from the trappings of studio overproduction, gimmicks, or layers of sound. His vocals easily flow up and down his multiple-octave range with no lipsyncing or auto-tune to help him out. And did I mention, he dances?
Directed by Doug Spangenberg, ‘Glam Nation Live’ is shot very creatively, giving viewers the ability to see the whole production from the best seat in the house.
Naysayers, forget ‘American Idol’ or the ‘American Music Awards’ or just about anything else you think you know about Adam Lambert. ‘Glam Nation Live’ proves Adam Lambert is the real deal – vocal talent, showmanship, and personality to match.
