Apple's Jobs: The tablet PC 'crashed and burned'
Apple CEO Steve Jobs had some choice words today for the tablet PC, a relatively obscure PC product category that never caught on with consumers.
What is the tablet PC exactly? While there's a long history of this product category and thus not a hard-and-fast definition, it's probably best exemplified today by hybrids like Hewlett-Packard's EliteBook 2570p (which starts at a whopping $1,599) or the Fujitsu Lifebook T900 Tablet PC (which starts at an even higher $1,899).
The tablet PC has been largely a vain attempt--certainly compared with the popularity of the iPad--to meld the laptop with a tablet, based on the Windows tablet interface.
And Jobs pulled no punches in pointing this out today when speaking at the iPad 2 event today in San Francisco. "We sold almost 15 million iPads in 2010. And remember that's just nine months. That's April through September," he said. "That's more than every tablet PC ever sold. The tablet PC crashed and burned. The modern tablet PC is the iPad."
Granted, he is probably Apple's best product evangelist, but he has a point. The stylus-based Windows interface never caught in any significant way. Not to mention the fact that the Windows 7 tablet interface today is not as touch-friendly as Apple's UI on the iPad.
But it's not only Apple that will likely deliver the coup de grace to the tablet PC. As PC makers like HP and Dell bring out more products like the HP TouchPad and the Dell Streak, they will do their fair share to bring about the demise of this product category too
Fujitsu Lifebook T900 Tablet PC. At $1,899, would you buy one of these? Notice the stylus, which never caught on in a big way. It's not that light either at 4.59 pounds.

pocket pc biasanya windows mobile...dalam peranti yang kecil seperti smart phone...biasanya jauh lebih ringan....kalau tablet ngan cd rom bagainya boleh laa letak dalam kereta tgk video ker apa...kalau betul betul nak tablet buat apa nak cd rom bagai...buat berat ajer...tapi x sure laa fujitsu ni..sebab selalunya cd rom fujitsu boleh tarik keluar utk lebih ringan...

sesiapa yg ingin tablet pc yg terbaru tunggu sahaja acer iconia tab w500 released later this month, but of course the battery life is pretty bad.
namun bagi saya selagi that tablet tidak menggunakan OS optimized for tablet, baik tidak payah beli
buat masa sekarang bagi saya pilihan yg terbaik untuk membeli tablet adalah ipad 2 or android honeycomb tablet di mana android OS ini specifically built for tablet devices, current android tablet menggunakan OS for mobile phone.
namun setakat ini hanya satu android tablet yg gunakan honeycomb available in the market iaitu di US , motorola xoom.
starting april rasanya akan ada samsung galaxy tab 10.1 dan LG optimus pad akan released yg juga menggunkan android honeycomb OS. |

sebenarnya tablet ini fungsi mereka bukan untuk replaced notebook or PC, ianya untuk complement devices itu.jika kamu tiada notebook or PC dan hanya ada tablet tiada guna juga sebab kamu memerlukan itu untuk transfer video,mp3 etc dan juga untuk update OS for ipad.

sekrg alahai!...samsung dah kuar lama pun technology takleh nak kejar...lebih2 lagi xoom...
kesimpulan...steve jobs nak menangkan hati investor and stake holder...sebab tu laa kena kuarkan teknologi dgn cepat tapi terburu2 dgn peningkatan teknologi yg hanya minimal sahaja... |

tentang ipad 2 ini peningkatan nya mostly hardware sahaja, mereka patut tingkatkan lagi juga OS untuk tablet itu. |

ko nih cakap macam tuju akt org2 dalam JKR jerk c.k.... tau sangat dah perangai dorang.. letak spec dalam bq, UMAK AIHH... giler canggih punya komputer, laptop bagai semua... tapi bila hantar, just guna MS word ajer.. yg lain dia punya chek detail.. itu macma takder, ini macam mana nak guna... |
