If she retires, she retires. She wouldn't be the first in the last 10 years to retire before their perceived time. Clijsters retired initially because of a string of injuries, came back and retired again. Henin retired twice as well. Maria's body has been through the mill. Shoulder injuries that forced her to modify her game and that don't seem to have fully gone away. She pulled out of the US Open due to her leg, now she's out of IW due to some kind of arm problem.
She's played for like 13 years, one of the last teenage phenoms, has won 5 majors, numerous other tournaments, a silver medal, been number 1. She's a lock for the hall of fame. She's had a career many would envy, if she hangs it up, she hangs it up. I'd rather her do it now before she really hurts herself if it's that bad.
Although if she does I hope she at least plays the French, Wimbledon and the Olympics.
However...I wouldn't be suprised if it was something else either. Maybe she's pregnant, maybe she's getting married...she's always been...well...cryptic about her life in some ways so who knows what's happening

I don't think it's a retirement..kita pun dah tahu, Maria dah tarik diri from Indian Well due to forearm injury, so aku rasa maybe dia nak berehat untuk satu tempoh yg agak lama sebelum kembali beraksi..maybe tempoh rehat dalam setahun dua..harap2 la. |
