130 Libyan soldiers executed for mutiny

130 Libyan soldiers have been executed for refusing to open fire on pro-democracy protesters, International Federation for Human Rights says.
An amateur video footage shows the slain soldiers with their hands tied behind their backs.
This comes as there are more reports of defiance among army ranks and soldiers who have refused to obey orders by embattled Muammar Gaddafi to shoot peaceful protesters.
The rights group also said the harsh crackdown on protesters in Libya is “crime against humanity,” dpa reported on Wednesday |

ocket from Gaza lands in Israel

There was no casualty but Israel responded with a number of air strikes in Gaza Strip.
A rocket launched from the Gaza Strip has landed in a residential street in the Israeli city of Beersheba and Israel responded with air strikes in the Gaza Strip, officials on both sides said.
A rocket launched from the Gaza Strip on Wednesday caused serious damage to houses and cars but no casualties, Beersheba mayor Rubik Danilovich said. Earlier reports said the rocket had struck a house.
"One rocket fell, there are no casualties and security forces are in control of the situation," Danilovich told Israel's Channel 1 television.
Residents said they sought shelter in secure rooms after air raid sirens sounded in the area. |

Gaddafi family jet denied Lebanon landing

Lebanon has refused to grant landing permission to a private plane belonging to one of the sons of embattled Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
The plane was transporting the Lebanese wife of Hannibal Gaddafi to her home country as pro-democracy protesters take control of nearly most parts of Libya. Several members of Libya's ruling family were also onboard the plane.
"The Beirut airport overnight Sunday to Monday received a request from Libyan authorities to allow a plane belonging to the Gaddafi family and transporting Aline Skaff, the wife of Hannibal Gaddafi, as well as other passengers to land," the official said Wednesday on condition of anonymity.
"Lebanon rejected the request," the officials said without providing further details.
A government official said the private jet was barred from Lebanese airspace after Libyan authorities refused to provide Beirut with a detailed list of the passengers on board. |
