Tim Urban knew he was catching flak during his run on American Idol, and not just from the judges. "You have to deal with it, shrug it off," the most recently eliminated singer told reporter during a conference call Thursday.
"I don't perform for people who don't like me."
He also says he tried not to take the judges' criticism too seriously, at least until he'd had time to process what they'd said. "If I took it all personally and let it eat at me, I wouldn't want to go out the next week."
Like many people -- Simon Cowell included -- Tim also thinks he got better over the course of the show.
"The last couple of weeks, I showed American the kind of artist I would be," Tim says. In fact, one of his high points during the competition came when the judges praised him following his Elvis Presley Week performance of Can't Help Falling in Love.
While Vote for the Worst might have been a fan of Tim's, the admiration wasn't mutual. "I really have no comment about that website," Tim says.
"I'm not excited I was on their website. I'm actually kind of sad that I was on that website. I didn't like being on there."
Tim says he dealt with the pressure of performing in front of millions of people by concentrating on the people in the room. His goal on the show, he says, was "to be a good contestant ... and to take what [the judges] were saying and work at and improve."

Shania is country genre.

Many of Shania's best known songs are female-centered and we just can't imagine Casey James, Big Mike or Lee Dewyze being excited to sing songs like "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" or "The Woman In Me (Needs the Man in You)." Luckily, there are plenty of Shania songs that don't have "woman" in the title. |
