Adakah dapatan DESKTOP STUDY ni reliable utk dijadikan rujukan utk membuat keputusan sebesar MEMBA ...
Usually buat desktop study ni client nak minta approval to move ahead with the project. Dia macam to show in theory la it is “necessary”, how it will look like apa akan terjadi bila flooding air dari mana turun ke mana etc etc
Tu yg i curious camne dapat budget no. 3bil tu? Mesti dia dah buat more than desktop study to get an estimate. Desktop stidy tak ada cost estimate. Takanlah pluck from air figure tu.
... as water conveyance canals they are a water transport canals. The gates yg kat these canals are not flood gates dear, they are lock gates, so they can launch vessels bukan untuk control how much water can go in or not macam sluice gates.
Pos ulangan saya, .......
.
- Canal locks open to prevent flooding (di USA) - 29 Aug 2015
.
https://www.edie.net/news/0/Cana ... od-prevention/3416/ - Canals are crucial in flood prevention - 3 November 2000 -
Water levels can be controlled in canals, sending excess water into non-risk areas further downstream, with each lock forming a single linear reservoir.
One example of the judicious use of canals has been with the Bridgewater/Taunton canal which runs parallel to the River Tone in Somerset. “We lowered the level of the canal in preparation,” the spokesperson told edie. Then, once the river overflowed, the excess water was contained by the canal.
.
Canals to prevent flooding can also have water/flood gates or locks(pintu air) to control the water levels in different sections of a lengthy canal.
.
... Desktop study tu maybe dia buat pluvial and flood modelling which involves hyraulics/hyrological
modelling. Simulation pula for flood risk guna hydrodynamic modelling. Softwares depends la yg selalu guna Mike 21, ISIS, arGIS etc etc so kalau pluvial tak cukup, hydro tak cukup, no point buat cost it will not be cheap. Baik improve drainage infra je and river barrage ke. ...
.
... You can refer to Singapore’s stamford diversion canal and stamford detention tank. Cost $230 mil.

Can be used tapi not the norm for water conveyance canals only canals yg orang guna bawa boat. It is primarily used to control water level bila 2 different level of water body bertemu. If not menjunam atau tenggelam la boat tu.
. https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/rm20b-clean-klang-river - RM20b to clean up Klang River - 9 March 2009
KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor government has embarked on an ambitious plan to implement a RM20 billion clean-up and rehabilitation of the Klang River towards creating a catalyst for economic development in the state.
Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the project that could stretch over a decade was to enhance real-estate development along the river and land reserves, adding that the river itself could in the future be used for an alternative public transportation system for the people and goods. He said the immediate benefit of the project would be to provide business to companies and jobs for the people as the river together with its many tributaries was over 250km long. ...
Apa terjadi dengan Projek besar ini.? Sejak Mei 2008, kerajaan PKR/PH Selangor macam tak begitu minat dengan projek2 mencegah banjir kerana limpahan air hujan lebat/luarbiasa dari Sg Klang.

I sudah tengok itu bridgewater/taunton canal. It is in England. So betullah cakap i canal tu sebenarnya water transport network memang la banyak lock gates bukan sebab dibina untuk flloding. The reason is because dia bertemu 2 rivers yg different water level. And the rivers tu yg flood defence. I malas nak tengok video tu sebab unless u are a civil
Engineer or water engineer or dam engineer you tak akan faham the works. Lagipun sekarang ni u bukan nak apa u nak pertahankan why the project was cancelled bila another ruling party took over tu je.

Investigations into Taman Sri Muda development will arrest future disasters, they say - 25 Dec 2021
... Dr Khir said when he held the MB post, he also ensured that all residential developments in the state had retention ponds.
“The local and state governments must make this mandatory. If you look at Taman Setia Alam and Bukit Jelutong, I made the developers build retention ponds that would later become lakes for recreational areas.
“But now this standard operating procedure is not followed, which is why I am very frustrated.”
Mengapa kerajaan PKR/PH Selangor buat begitu.?
.

... To recap, the previous Selangor government had offered the land to Kumpulan Europlus Bhd (KEuro) in exchange for a flood mitigation programme that would have entailed the construction of an 18km canal connecting Sungai Klang to Sungai Langat over 5,400 acres. There were plans for waterfront properties to be developed along the canal, resembling the scenic and iconic Venice in Italy. ....

My bad i baru baca the whole article. So najib temberang la. Bukan setakat desktop study, dia sudah ada appointed epc company si IjM ni with financing from europlus. Itu sebab i tanya tadi aik just buat desktop study boleh tau whole project cost?? That means dia sudah up to design stage dah.
Oklah, Najib dia tak tipu cuma dia tak cakap tapi org yg tak tau how things work in the eng and construction sector percaya la bulat2 lah cerita ni.
Btw, ijm keb lost this one tapi dapat west coast highway lagi besar nok 5bil. ok lah tu.

... A new leader promising a better mousetrap hired a minister to find a better solution to the problem of flooding; the previous Minister for Waterworks, a certain Minister Gun, had in fact been held responsible for the violent floods during his tenure, and ended up paying the ultimate price for his 9 seasons of failure: he was executed!
The new Minister for Waterworks, Minister Yu, decided to try something else: out were dams; in were diversionary canals, i.e., canals that could divert the overflow elsewhere, as well as serve as reservoirs in their own right. The new flood control strategy worked so well that Minister Yu became a national hero, and, as so often happens – from Roman times down to the present – the famous general who wins the war becomes such a hero that he ends up scoring his boss' job, which is precisely what happened in the case of Minister Yu, who became Emperor Yu, or Yu the Great. ....
Eastern Zhou Dynasty - 600BC
... For example, a dam might be designed to lightly flood a valley (with numerous reservoirs and sluices to regulate the water level) so that rice could be grown there. Reservoirs could hold water to be used to get through shorter drought periods, while canals could divert water to specific locales instead of having to flood entire areas. PM Sun made use of all of these tools to address the agricultural problems he faced. Much later, Sun Shu-Ao was recognized as China's first hydraulic engineer. ....
The ingenious practice of diverting the overflow of the Yellow River via flood canals continued down through the Tang Dynasty and Five Dynasties (CE 907-960) period. ...
... Due to the warring, the canals also served as connective waterways for the transport of much-needed grain to the capital, Kaifeng, from the grain-rich valley of the Yangtze River northward via the Shanyang Canal (later to be known as the Yangzhou Canal) to Huai'an, via the Si River from Huai'an to Pengcheng (present-day Xuzhou) and finally via the Bian Canal (note that both the Shanyang Canal and the Bian Canal were originally referred to as rivers, due to their meandering nature).
Song Dynasty - 1200AD
... Thus the Han Chinese tradition of flood control via the construction of diversionary canals continued, though on the Yangtze River instead. ...
These flood control measures would naturally continue on both drainage systems during most of the remainder of China's dynastic period, with greater zeal during periods of peace, i.e., during periods of unification, which was largely the case after the emergence of the Yuan (CE 1279-1368) Dynasty. Of course, parallel with the notion of flood canals, China continued to build dams on rivers as a way to contain them, or so it was hoped. ...
Ancient Chinese Waterworks
Two famous, ancient – but still functioning – Chinese waterworks, one a dam and the other a canal system, are:
Dujiangyan Dam – a diversionary canal (irrigation canal) system, originally built in BCE 256 during the Warring States period on the Min River in Sichuan Province, near the capital, Chengdu.
Mulan Dam (Reservoir [木蘭陂]) – originally built in CE 1064 as a dam across the Mulan River in Fujian Province near the city of Putian, ...

Rasanya yg mention pasal DESKTOP STUDY bkn Najib tp PNSB. Dorg justify pemberhentian projek Canal CIty nih dgn alasan JPS dah buat DESKTOP STUDY dan didapati projek nih x bagi impak yg besar dlm menangani masalah banjir, so laporan tu dijadikan alasan utk dipersembahkan kpd kerajaan PR dulu dan hasilnya mesyuarat Exco negeri membatalkan projek

10 yrs ago punya cerita nak naik balik buat apa? Tahun 2021 ni kes banjir teruk pertama kali sebelum tu banjir manja2 juga kenapa najib tak naik kan isu ni? Tolak construction phase 3 tahun, 2013-2018 kenapa najib diam? Dia kan PM time tu?
Buat apalah kerajaan selangor nak invest 3bil lepas tu jadi white elephant sebab mungkin guna satu hari nanti tapi tak tau bila. Belum lagi maintenance cost yg akan beratus ribu sementara nak tunggu banjir besar berlaku. Cost vs benefit analysis la bro.
In the meantime kalau dah buat juga dan jadi white elephant kau ingat najib tak akan menganjing jugak ke?

Dykes polder semua tu lain bro bukan lock gates and floodgates. Can you stay on the subject? Melompat2 la kau. Polders are reclaimed land, dykes built on land, lock gates to control different water level masa kau dalam waterway of different terrain so boat kat tak melambung sey bila masuk another waterway.
Eh kau ni betullah macam blastop google lepas tu rasa macam dah pandai. Eh lantak kau lah aku nak tidur.

Thanks i baru baca whole article tadi. Sorry, initially i mencelah nak explain panama and suez canal tu tak sama dgn canals yg plan nak dibuat kat canal city ni tapi terjebak lak panjang2. So, betullah lepas buat the study it showed the cost outweighed the benefits, tu yg jps decided not to go ahead kut.

ada budak tak cukup sekolah kata projek canal city ni takde kajian pon
punya la bodoh
dia ingat zaman najib cikai2 punya ka
contohnya projek MRT tu punya la detail dia punya kajian
dekat dokumentari mana ntah bangkem tengok
