Congratulations to the Queensland Firebirds - winners of the 2012 ANZ Championship Pre-Season tournament - defeating the Melbourne Vixens 50-30. Queenslands went through the competition undefeated (again).
NETBALL SUCKS SYNOPSIS: A horror comedy about the Netbirds, a strange mix of man lusting, lesbian loving, slight special group of friends who play Netball at a local league versus the Dark Diamonds, a sexy mix of a kick-ass, tough girls with short skirts and tight tops. As the competition heats ups, the true secret of the Dark Diamonds is revealed: they are a bunch of dirty playing, blood thirsty, cheating vampires that abduct umpires and turn them into Vumpires! It's now down to our protagonist Juliet to train up her Netbirds as they prepare for a match which will change everything: a chance to be in the Netball Super Leagues. Bring on sun beds, silver dresses, and humous as the Netbirds find interesting ways to try to defeat the Dark Diamonds. This is the biggest garlic induced battle ever seen on a netball court!
England to battle Barbados at Birmingham, Bath and Surrey!
This Easter, International Netball returns to England. This is the first chance to catch the national squad in action since their amazing win at the World Netball Series in November. Barbados are the opponents in a three match series that will head to the LG Arena in Birmingham, the Sports Training Village at the University of Bath and Surrey Sports Park.
England are currently ranked third in the world and will be favourites to secure more success over their Caribbean counterparts who reside in ninth position in the rankings. This will also be the first time that Head Coach Anna Mayes will lead her side in a home international as preparation for the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and World Championships in 2015 begins in earnest.
Mayes is looking forward to getting her team back on court and said “It will be an exciting opportunity to blood some of our most exciting, young, and in form players from the Superleague, against a unique Caribbean style of play. This Series is a platform for England to display to their supporters how the squad is moving forward and challenging old and current ways.”
The Bajan squad will undoubtedly bring some Caribbean flair to the Series, in what promises to be a trio of matches full of colour, style and passion. It is great opportunity to watch your heroes in action and feel the full of excitement of witnessing international netball live!
