"Caw, Caw!"
A fitting exit this week for the "American Idol" contestant whose presence in the top nine was like a pesky grackle taking up residence in the chimney: Farewell, Megan Joy.
Her stunningly good looks never made up for the fact that she was a one-trick pony who couldn't carry a tune.
Was Simon too harsh on her for her poor attitude toward the show and the judges' critiques?
No. Anyone who thinks so might want to consider how poor Alexis Grace, a superior singer who narrowly missed the top 10, must have felt sitting in the audience Wednesday night watching all of Megan's nonsense on stage.
The arm-flapping. The bird noises. The funny faces. Saying she didn't care. The painful rendition of "Turn Your Lights Down Low."
Yes, she probably knew she was headed home and was excited to see her little boy. Good for her.
But there are a lot of people who would have loved to be in her shoes in that top-nine spot, going on tour this summer. And a lot of contestants endured equally harsh criticism from the judges with far less rotten attitude. Witness Michael Sarver last week |
