sarkozy & carla bruni : update - sarkozy tak kisah bruni bogel!!
French President Sarkozy hints at marriage with Bruni
French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Tuesday described his romance with Carla Bruni as "serious" and suggested he will marry the former Italian supermodel and pop singer.
"There is a strong chance that you will learn about it once it's already been done," Sarkozy told a press conference when asked about reports that a wedding is planned next month.
"It is serious," he said of the romance, which has unleashed a media blitz since the couple were first photographed in December visiting the Disneyland theme park near Paris.
Three months after divorcing his second wife Cecilia, Sarkozy has been under pressure to comment publicly on his relationship with 40-year-old Bruni amid signs that the celebrity spotlight could be hurting his approval ratings.
Recent polls have shown he has slipped three to four points, while one showed a seven-point plunge in his rating to 48 percent -- the lowest since his election in May.
Dubbed "the Bling-Bling president" by left-wing critics, Sarkozy has been accused of parading his romance in the media while neglecting the public's day-to-day concerns.
Elected on a promise to bring in sweeping reforms, the president is facing criticism that he has been unable to rev up the economy, with projections showing growth will remain sluggish in 2008.
Recent photos of Sarkozy and Bruni at the Egyptian resort of Luxor and the ancient Jordanian city of Petra fueled charges that he was holidaying while the French at home were struggling with a rising cost of living.
Defending his reform agenda, Sarkozy nevertheless suggested he had little leverage and that state finances were already stretched to the maximum.
"Concerning purchasing power, what do you expect from me?" he said. "That I empty coffers that are already empty?".
The 52-year-old president denied using his relationship with Bruni to divert attention from France's economic woes and took a swipe at critics who say he is overexposing his private life.
"I never gave instructions to any media to follow me around," he said at his first major news conference since he replaced Jacques Chirac.
Sarkozy said he wanted to "break with a hateful tradition of hypocrisy", in reference to President Francois Mitterrand's illegitimate daughter, whose existence was kept secret by the press for years.
"You would have never asked this question to any of my predecessors," he told the journalist who asked about his relationship with Bruni -- the second question asked at a two-hour news conference.
"Carla and I have decided not to lie," said the president.
Bruni may accompany Sarkozy on a state visit to India later this month, and an Indian foreign ministry official said her presence would cause "no protocol problem from our side".
In October, Sarkozy became the first French president to divorce while in office when he ended his stormy 11-year marriage to Cecilia, with whom he has a 10-year-old son, Louis.
He also has two sons, Pierre, 22, and Jean, 21, from a previous marriage to Marie-Dominique Culioli.
Born into a wealthy Turin industrial family, Bruni made a second fortune in modelling and music, becoming one of the world's best paid models at the height of her catwalk career.
She had a surprise hit with the release of her first pop album "Quelqu'un M'a Dit" (Someone Told Me) in 2004.
Bruni's previous affairs with such rock stars as Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton have provided regular fodder for the tabloid press and she was quoted in a French magazine last year as saying "Monogamy bores me terribly".
Education Minister Xavier makciksarawaktuakerepotcos defended Sarkozy's romance.
"I believe that a happy president, and I was about to say a president in love, is a president that has without a doubt more of a bounce in his step and will be more energetic and efficient in fulfilling his duties," he said.

Carla Bruni, from catwalk to the Elysee Palace
By James Mackenzie
PARIS (Reuters) - Carla Bruni, the Italian singer and former supermodel, would bring a dose of glamour to the Elysee Palace if her surprising romance with President Nicolas Sarkozy ends in marriage.
A feline star of the catwalk turned husky voiced chanteuse, Bruni, the scion of a rich Italian industrial dynasty, embodies a world of cultured glamour far removed from the ambitious outsider who won the French presidency last year.
France's President Nicolas Sarkozy (L) and his new girlfriend,
Carla Bruni, walk together during a visit to the Giza pyramids
in Cairo, December 30, 2007.
Her patrician indifference to bourgeois convention and her relationships with rock stars and intellectuals also seem to mark her as part of the Left Bank Parisian cultural elite that Sarkozy is normally assumed to despise.
Sarkozy, a former lawyer and champion of "the France that gets up early", has little known interest in the arts apart from his friendship with French rocker Johnny Hallyday. He once declared "I am not an intellectual".
But there was little doubting the president's feelings as the pair toured the pyramids hand in hand or gambolled in the Egyptian surf together last month.
"It's serious," Sarkozy, 52, told the press but triggered feverish speculation about a possible wedding date by adding: "There's a good chance you'll find out about it when it's already happened."
The 40 year-old Bruni, a tall, slim brunette, bears a certain physical resemblance to Sarkozy's second wife Cecilia, who made no secret of her dislike of the role of First Lady and spent little time in the Elysee Palace.
But she would mark a distinct change of tone from Bernadette Chirac, the formidable wife of former President Jacques Chirac whose style was unmistakably that of a "grande dame" from the old-fashioned French bourgeoisie.
"MANEATER"
One significant difference may be Bruni's own attitude to marriage.
"I get crazily bored by monogamy," she told Figaro Madame last year. "I'm monogamous from time to time but I prefer polygamy and polyandry."
She has been romantically linked to a string of famous men, from rock stars Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger to property tycoon Donald Trump and France's former Socialist Prime Minister Laurent Fabius.
Bruni, daughter of a tyre heir-turned musician and a concert pianist, grew up in France after her family left Italy in the 1970s because of the threat of kidnapping by the extreme leftwing Red Brigades.
She became a model in her late teens, joining the elite class of supermodels like Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell during the 1990s before scoring a surprise hit in 2003 with a record of literate, melodic ballads that sold 2 million copies.
She was introduced to Sarkozy at a dinner party hosted by public relations executive Jacques Seguela, only weeks after the president's divorce from Cecilia last October. |

Bruni seiras bekas isteri Sarkozy

Tuesday January 15, 2008 French newspaper says Sarkozy might have wed Bruni
By Crispian Balmer
PARIS (Reuters) - A French newspaper reported on Monday that President Nicolas Sarkozy might have married his new girlfriend Carla Bruni last week, but the mother of the former Italian supermodel said she was unaware of any secret nuptials.
Regional daily l'Est Republicain quoted a source close to someone who "attended the ceremony" as saying that Sarkozy and Bruni married last Thursday at the Elysee presidential palace.

| "Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni reportedly got married on Thursday at the Elysee," the paper said on its website.
Sarkozy's press office declined to comment on the report and Bruni's mother told Reuters she had not heard of any wedding.
"I don't know, I am not aware of anything. I have just seen Carla and she didn't mention anything," said Marisa Bruni, speaking by telephone.
"It could be, anything is possible. Maybe they got married without inviting anyone, but I think that if that was the case the Elysee would have made an announcement," she added.
Marisa Bruni met Sarkozy when he visited Italy in December and she told reporters earlier this month that the French president had proposed to her daughter.
Sarkozy, who divorced his second wife in October, told a news conference last week that his relationship with Bruni was "serious", but declined to be drawn on a possible wedding date.
"There's a good chance you'll find out about it when it's already happened," he said.
There was wild speculation in Paris last Thursday that Sarkozy was marrying that day, but there was no confirmation of the reports. The president flew for an official visit to Saudi Arabia at the weekend and was in Qatar on Monday.
L'Est Republicain, which had close ties to Sarkozy's former wife Cecilia, gave no details about the reported wedding ceremony, saying only that it was "very small" and "intimate".
Weddings in France cannot normally be kept secret but the newspaper said wedding banns do not necessarily have to be officially published if a state prosecutor gives special dispensation.
"In all likelihood this is what happened in this case," it said.
The newspaper speculated that Sarkozy might take Bruni with him on an official visit to India scheduled for this month.
According to a separate media report, two men have been arrested for threatening Sarkozy's 10-year-old son, who is being looked after by Cecilia.
The website of Le Point magazine said the men had obtained the mobile phone number of Louis Sarkozy and had phoned the number on numerous occasions to threaten him. Quoting police sources, it said the men would be tried next month. |

First lady material?
17-01-2008
WITH her high cheekbones, porcelain skin and feline gaze, there is little doubt that Carla Bruni looks like a first lady.
Whatthe French are currently asking, however, is whether the 40-year-oldmodel-turned-folk singer has the temperament to become a fittingconsort to their most energetic, controversiol and avidly right-wingpresident in decades.
Judging by the circumstances which led upto Bruni抯 first meeting with the 52-year-old president, such atransformation might not be easy.

Sarkozy popularity below 50 pct - poll
PARIS (Reuters) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy's popularity fell sharply in the past month, especially among core conservative voters, following criticism of his economic record and private life, a poll released on Saturday showed.
The IFOP poll for weekly Journal du Dimanche said 47 percent of people had a positive opinion of Sarkozy, compared with 52 percent in December, leaving him less popular than his Prime Minister for the first time since his election last May.
Prime Minister Francois Fillon edged up to 50 percent from 49 percent in the previous monthly survey.

|
Coming two months before local elections, it was the first time Sarkozy had fallen below 50 percent in the monthly IFOP poll, confirming the results of another survey last week.
Political analysts say Sarkozy's popularity has stumbled since he cast doubt on one key campaign pledge -- boosting the spending power of ordinary individuals -- at a New Year's news conference, saying state coffers were empty.
The head of BVA pollsters, Jerome Sainte-Marie, said last week voters were especially concerned about their purchasing power and did not believe Sarkozy had lived up to his pre-election promise to be "the president of purchasing power".
Sarkozy has also raised eyebrows among older voters in mainly Catholic France with his whirlwind and very public romance with supermodel-turned-singer Carla Bruni.
PUBLIC DISPLAY
The biggest drop in popularity since December was among people aged between 50 and 64, down 8 percentage points to 43 percent, according to the IFOP poll.
His support fell 10 percentage points to 59 percent among shopkeepers, self-employed people and business heads -- the bedrock of support for Sarkozy's ruling UMP conservative party.
Support among UMP sympathisers fell 5 points to 88 percent and among centrist voters it fell 10 points to 34 percent.
The leader of the UMP party, Patrick Devedjian, said Sarkozy was paying the price for being more transparent than his predecessors about his private life.
"He's the one who put his weeekends on public display. People only remember images of luxury," Devedjian, a long-time Sarkozy ally, told the Journal du Dimanche.
"It's easier and more amusing to look at photos of a happy couple than austere legal arguments for reforming labour contracts. That little revolution is a bit less noticeable than glossy images. Transparency can have perverse effects." |

Sarkozy sues over article alleging text to Cecilia
PARIS (Reuters) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy has taken legalaction against the Web site of the magazine Le Nouvel Observateur overan article describing what it said was a text message he had sent tohis ex-wife Cecilia, his lawyer said on Thursday.
The suit accused the weekly of "falsification and the use andprocurement of falsified documents" over an article that appeared onFeb. 6 headed "The obsession with Cecilia", lawyer Thierry Herzog toldReuters.

| On Tuesday a court in Paris awarded the president symbolic damagesof one euro against the budget airline Ryanair for unauthorised use ofa photograph of him and his companion Carla Bruni in an advertisementfor cheap tickets.
The couple were married last weekend after a whirlwind romance firstmade public in December, only weeks after Sarkozy divorced his secondwife Cecilia.
The Nouvel Observateur Web site said Sarkozy had sent Cecilia a textmessage shortly before his wedding with Bruni concerning hisrelationship with Cecilia. The Nouvel Observateur could not immediatelybe reached for comment.
Sarkozy's romance with Bruni has been splashed across the French andinternational media ever since the pair appeared in public together.
Although the relationship has fascinated the public, Sarkozy'sopinion poll ratings have suffered from perceptions that he was beingdistracted from his duties and had lost touch with the concerns ofvoters worried about the cost of living. |

France's first lady defends marriage and her image
By Crispian Balmer
PARIS (Reuters) - France's first lady Carla Bruni has denied that her marriage to President Nicolas Sarkozy was over-hasty and has leapt to the defence of her husband, whose approval ratings are in freefall.
| France's first lady Carla Sarkozy (R) relaxes in the sun as she rests her head on the shoulder of President Nicolas Sarkozy who uses the phone while at a cafe terrace in the gardens of the Versailles Chateau near Paris, February 3, 2008. (REUTERS/Antoine Gyori)
| In her first interview since their secret wedding earlier this month, Bruni played down her image as a man-eating socialite and told L'Express magazine that she would take her new role seriously.
Sarkozy and Bruni, an Italian supermodel-turned-singer, married just three months after first meeting and a mere four months after the president wrapped up a swift, painful divorce from his second wife, Cecilia.
Their whirlwind romance has raised eyebrows in France, and given voters the impression that Sarkozy is over-impetuous, but Bruni denied that they had moved too fast.
"That's false. Things between Nicolas and me weren't quick, they were immediate. Therefore, as far as we were concerned things moved quite slowly," she was quoted as saying.
"I didn't have any hetion. I wanted to marry him straight away. I feel that nothing bad can happen when I am with him," she said in a glowing eulogy of his merits.
Bruni, 40, has been linked with numerous men in the past, has a child from a previous relationship and has been portrayed in the press as a party animal and a home-breaker.
"I understand that people are worried about what I am, especially with these portraits of me that are often fantastical and sometimes awful. But I want to reassure the French. I am 40, I am normal, serious, aware, simple, even if I am privileged."
ANTI-DIVORCE
Sarkozy, 53, has been married twice before and cynics have questioned how long his third marriage might hold up.
Bruni herself said she was in it for the long haul.
"I've never been married before. I come from an Italian culture and wouldn't like to get divorced. I'm therefore the first lady until the end of my husband's mandate and his wife until death," she said.
Wearing her heart on her sleeve, Bruni said her husband made her feel safe. "Nicolas is brave enough for two people. He is very protective, very paternal," she said.
"I don't yet know what I can do in my role as first lady, but I know the manner in which I want to carry it out -- seriously," she added.
She said her first official trip as first lady would be a visit to Britain scheduled for March 26-28, adding that it would be "exhilarating" to meet the queen.
Her marriage to Sarkozy has helped trigger a collapse in his ratings, with many voters accusing the president of focusing too much on his private life and not enough on their economic problems, such as the growing cost of living.
But Bruni said her husband was constantly at work and they managed to have very little time together. Even their honeymoon had lasted just 20 minutes, she joked.
Although Bruni is used to the glare of the media, she said the attention she had received since she started dating Sarkozy had staggered her, with "600 photographers" turning up to shoot their holidays in Petra in January. |

Album isteri Presiden dipuji
| BRUNI dan suaminya, Sarkozy.
|
- Reuters |

Polis bunuh diri cemar lawatan Sarkozy, isteri
SUASANA PANIK: Bruni (membelakangkan kamera) berlari naik tangga memasuki pesawat diikuti Sarkozy selepas mendengar tembakan ketika berlepas dari Tel Aviv, semalam.

Isteri dakwa Presiden Perancis suka gambarnya dedah tubuh ketika jadi model
Album terbarunya As if nothing had happened mula dijual bulan ini.
Kumpulan penganalisis yang mencatat jualan rekod Perancis dikenali SNEP berkata bermula 13 Julai jualan album Bruni mengatasi Viva la Vida, nyanyian kumpulan pemuzik British, Coldplay.
AP/AFP |
