Agul

Pride is a shifty, hidden emotion.

According to The Sedona Method system of classification, it is the most powerful of negative emotion. According to this system any negative emotion is fundamentally weaker than any positive emotion.

I choose discuss about this specific emotion because it is an emotion that usually reside in us, without us knowing. Personally, it's also something which I should improve on.

We feel proud of our accomplishment. That much is clear.
However, we also subtly take pride in having problems, issues and challenges in life.
We feel special that we have them. We are proud that we can survive. That we can continue on eventhough we have all these problem, having bourne it for so long. Or we may take pride in having problems that is unique.

Example.

Someone may feel pride because he/she did have food, job at work, for having accomolished much..

that abused wife is in  the situation of what i called  - the LEARNED HELPLESSNESS ni....sebab she just  giving up to the ambiance to dictate her course of life.
the subtlety of this feeling of pride ( are we allowed to have this thing in Islam?) in this abused wife case/ vignette ni just a defense mechanism , u reckon? as she desperately needs to rationalise....could this be one of  the way to view the problem?to cope with the complex situation ..sebab tu she need to feel proud.

u take pride because of the courage, to be positive in the face of adversity. to dash through the rough , difficult time. Doing the impossible....so taking pride will be more of the product of being positive  in difficult situation not like that..the housewife thingy is the learned helplessness...

pride in doing a good job- deserve but to which extent?in Islamic perspective of course..i pun tatau hal ni.

the way i see it...it can be gud and not gud depends on our intention

for inner self to feel gud, i think it shud be ...
for others to "make believe" that we are gud...crap!!!

pride= to feel pleased about something or clever that you can do
          e.g: tina feels prides himself on her ability to cook

self esteem= a good opinion of you own character and abilities
               e.g: a man with high'low self-esteem

self - esteem and pride i would think that you have got the vibes dah , kan ..how those european raised their kids, the curricula at pre - school pun ( anak u dah masuk pre school depa dah ka?) like the way they interact ngan kids ..those things are condusive i think to bulid self - esteem and pride ...

jadi pentinglah bila nak feel good about ourselve ni actually being humble, true to urself and accept yg kita ader the past and the present and as well the future yg shaped our thinking, mental sets, etc our weaknesses too ..then your self concept semua kena betul.

beCOZ I COULD= u know what if u think about it , peering THROUGH DEEP ENOUGH you WILL SEE the CONNECTION

about pride = self concept = self esteem and ur signature ( = maksudnya as being)

yg sajer tanya tu ada kaitannya- it's about how u would use the "mirrors" = reflection of OTHERS on you.

So in this CASE,  the others COULD SAY JUST ABOUT anything ; regardless whether IT IS baseless or not.
they are the mirrors ? could be BUT we as the recipient needs to be rationale. Weighing the pro , the points OBJECTIVELY. then it turns INTO a window thru ur exposure and experience in life= so how's that ? by evaluating the opinions of others ( ni peringkat synthesis) you could diverse ur way / perspective.

So PRIDE could either derive in this way too ...u will eventually need to rely on your ego jugak if and only if the things thatyou fight for is the core principles of things.So pride as a matter of maintaining UR STAND is ESSENTIALY IMPORTANT.

The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.

why mirrors...sumthing to do with the reflection (who u are)
why windows...sumthing to do with inflow-outflow of the air (be open minded)

why self-esteem...sumthing gud for inner self (who u are)
why pride...sumthing do to with the others (with open mind without prejudice)

i think i can see the connection but it's really vague...dunno how to put it in the sentences

we must clearly seperate good pride and vice versa pride....

im a man full of pride....but wrong pride has lead  me to destruction....

thank God, now i can clearly seperate good pride and bad pride....

i am educating my self to be proud of loosing my pride for the truth, although it makes me look like a man with no pride.....

because theres a different between the pride to be judge by human(including ourself) and the  pride to be judge by God.

that means u ae spiritually based - person lah in viewing the pride....

but bukan image tu maslahah jugak ker.. am i using the correct arabic term? for image = maslahah...nanti fitnah pada ad -deen jugak...

kalau tak de hal, atau takda masalah, kenapa nak abaikan image...

kalau betul2 perlu kerana kebenaran, baru tinggalkan perihal image nie....(biasanya tak selalu pun)

lagipun , jarang ada kes kena abaikan image nie.....sebab ia dgn agama selari....seperti selarinya agama dengan kehidupan....

tapi kalau perlu,  mengapa tidak sanggup ??? kalau kita tahu mana baik dan buruk, maka sepatutnya kita akan buat mana yg patut...
