Synopsis
Clark and Lois meet Smallville's newest arrival face-to-face, and she has some surprising news. Clark decides to leave Smallville and continue with his superhero training but Jor-El informs him that a new Kryptonian menace has arisen.Full Recap
Clark and Lois go out to check out the dam and Clark announces that he plans on leaving Smallville after Lana's funeral. Lois is surprised but then she spots some kind of spaceship. Pieces of kryptonite are nearby, preventing Clark from getting too close. When Lois gets too close, she is knocked back and the mysterious woman appears at superspeed. She crushes Lois' phone then warns them off and charges at Clark, knocking him back. She tells him to leave with Lois, then flies off into orbit… holding a House of El device with a picture of a baby.
Chloe is going over files of Belle Reve patients when Lois and Clark come back. Clark tries to convince Lois it wasn't a real ship without much luck, and Lois changes clothes and heads off to report the story to the Inquisitor.
Lex is in prison when his lawyer informs him that a disgruntled employee confessed to trying to kill Lana. Despite the fact the confession ensures his release, Lex doesn't believe it and orders his lawyer to set up a meeting.
Clark returns to the ship but it's gone and the police have sealed it up as a crime scene, with two dead park rangers, their cell phones crushed.
Lex confronts Chloe at the Daily Planet and reveals the man who confessed received a payoff from Lionel. He doesn't believe Lana is dead and wants Chloe to tell him everything she knows about the data that Lana stole from him. She refuses and stalks off.
Clark arrives to talk to Chloe, who reports that the mysterious "Supergirl" has been showing up appearing at elementary schools. Clark goes to the last place she was spotted and finds the girl interrogating boys. Clark arrives and stops her, then gets her away at superspeed. She claims that she hasn't killed anyone and tries to fly away, but Clark grounds her. He spots her bracelet, with the House of El mark, and she reluctantly tells him she's searching for a young boy: Kal-El.
Chloe meets with Lois and advises her that her story won't do her any good. Further, the Daily Planet has hired a new editor, Grant Gabriel, who drops in. He's interested in Lois' story and offers to publish it if it'll sell papers.
Clark takes the girl, Kara, to the Kent house and they figure out she's been in suspended animation for eighteen years. She reveals her father Zor-El, Jor-El's brother, sent her to find Clark. She admits the El house is… dysfunctional and insists they need to find her ship. Clark explains about kryptonite and how Krypton was destroyed and they're the only survivors. She warns that if anyone else opens her ship it will activate the self-destruct system, setting off a nuclear explosion.
At a secret lab, a mysterious man in a suit orders his team of technicians to open the ship. It starts to heat up and he orders the teams to begin extraction.
Lois arrives to talk to Gabriel and convince him to have Chloe write the story, but he isn't impressed with Chloe. He insists she's afraid to stand by her story but she has satellite photos of trucks transporting the ship.
Lex has his men determine that Lana is in Asia and he heads out. Kara and Clark go to the Daily Planet but Chloe doesn't have anything useful until she realizes the alarm on the ship disrupts radios. Clark goes to the roof and uses his super-hearing while instructing Kara to use hers. She manages to focus and locates the ship.
Lois has tracked down the warehouse where the spaceship was and finds it there. She touches it just as it starts to blow up, and she's thrown back unconscious. Kara and Clark arrive and Kara manages to contain the blast with her body, but the ship disintegrates.
Lex is en route to China and listening to the tape of his last conversation with Lana. He arrives at her apartment to find her waiting for him, expecting him to want revenge. He begs for her forgiveness and she reveals that the goal of his project was to create a clone of her. She found the clone and used it to stage the explosion and provide a body. He asks her to kill him but she can't bring herself to do it. He promises she can live her life however she wants and he'll never hurt her.
Lois complains to Chloe that she's got nothing for her story, but Gabriel congratulates her on it even though he can't run it without proof. He gives her a desk across from Chloe and the encouragement she'll soon be a full-fledged reporter.
Kara is up in the barn when Clark tries to console her at the loss of Krypton. She shares her memories of Krypton with him and Clark offers her a place at the farm. Kara reveals there was a crystal in the ship, that directed her along the way. She warns that only a Kryptonian can destroy the crystal.
In Washington, the mystery man in the suit has the crystal and goes up in an elevator to the U.S. Department of Domestic Security.
In the Arctic, Clark talks to the voice of Jor-El and explains about Kara. Jor-El claims ignorance and warns that Zor-El wasn't interested in benefiting Krypton. He warns against Kara as well, but Clark insists on receiving his training. Jor-El tells him to watch over Kara.
At the manor, Lex is studying a drawing of Kara and tells his men to find her. |
