PETALING JAYA: Two suspected armed robbers were killed when they tried to shoot their way out of a dead end road during a car chase with the police. The men had earlier led the police on a high speed car chase around Ara Damansara before driving into a dead end road. During the 10.50pm incident on Tuesday, the driver had tried to shoot his way out but was killed, along with his passenger, by the police. Selangor police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said a police patrol car had earlier spotted the suspects’ vehicle along Jalan PJU14/9. “When they tried to stop the car, it sped off, leading police on a high speed chase,” he said when met at the scene yesterday. He said when the suspects drove into the dead end road leading into a construction yard near Sungai Damansara, police blocked their exit. “The driver then stuck a gun out the car and fired several shots at the police. “We returned fire and shot the driver and passenger,” he said, adding that both men died at the scene. “We believe that these two men are part of an armed robbery gang,” he said, adding that both men, aged 22 and 26, had been identified. Police, he said, were now trying to trace the remaining members of the robbery gang. -The Star.
